The Biggest Threat to Democracy

The protests in Iran against the regime’s Islamist dictatorship have largely been quelled for the time being, but the conflict remains. It is between a regime that implements medieval and barbaric laws and a young generation that wants to live in a modern and civilized society; and between a regime that rejects the notion of, and constantly defies, an international community, and the Iranian people, who are increasingly longing for Iran to become part of the international community.

The View Blames GOP for Stanford Libs Shouting Down Conservative

Last week, conservative federal judge, Kyle Duncan was set to speak at Stanford University as part of an event put on by the Federalist Society but couldn’t because a mob of leftist students – with aid from the associate dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – shouted him down. But according to the cackling coven on ABC’s The View on Monday, Republicans in Congress were to blame because they heckled President Biden at the State of the Union.

An unexpected figure is funding a group opposed to Ukraine support

It’s no secret that there has been an increase in the number of Americans who oppose feeding an endless supply of weapons and cash into Ukraine to support the war against Russia or are at least skeptical about the process. Such people are regularly decried in the media as being “Putin stooges” or supporters of Russia. But who are these people?

‘Targeted inflation relief’ coming in 2023 federal budget, Freeland says

The coming 2023 federal budget will “exercise fiscal restraint” while also making “significant” investments in Canada’s health-care system and building a clean economy, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said Monday.

In a speech detailing the Liberal government’s priorities ahead of next week’s budget release, Freeland said the budget will include “targeted inflation relief” to help Canadians who are most acutely feeling the pinch as a result of rising prices.

Miami Beach mayor calls for Spring Break BAN

The mayor of Miami Beach wants to cancel Spring Break as footage emerged of the moment a man was shot dead on a sidewalk during another wild weekend of partying.

‘We haven’t asked for spring break in our city. We don’t want spring break in our city. It’s too rowdy, brings too much disorder and is simply too difficult to police,’ said Democratic mayor Dan Gelber.

The chaotic weekend saw two men shot dead and partygoers jumping on a car, brawling in streets and even trashing a slushie shop on the main drag despite the city instituting a curfew on Sunday night.

Opposition to David Johnston’s appointment shows how much politics has changed

The strong opposition to David Johnston’s appointment as special rapporteur investigating Chinese interference in elections reveals how our times, and our politics, have changed.

In a previous column, I suggested that Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre should accept Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s choice of Mr. Johnston on the grounds that the former governor-general was appointed to that post by then-Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper, and that he is one of this country’s most trusted, and trustworthy, figures.

Johnston is a suspect “choice” given his own ChiCom links alone.

CHARLEBOIS: Death, taxes and shrinkflation

As if shrinkflation wasn’t painful enough for all of us, looks like the taxman is making shrinking packages even more painful for our wallets.

Shrinkflation is when a food manufacturer reduces quantities but continues to sell the product at the same price. We have seen this happening pretty much everywhere in all sections of the grocery store. It’s even now happening in the fresh section, with strawberries and blueberries.

Caroline Ellison made $6 million at Alameda – a fraction of Sam Bankman-Fried’s $2.2 billion’s haul

Caroline Ellison, the former Alameda CEO who has pleaded guilty to seven criminal charges, received $6 million from the crypto-trading firm – a fraction of the billions paid to Sam Bankman-Fried, court filings reviewed by Insider show.

Alameda Research has been accused of using customer deposits from Bankman-Fried’s crypto exchange FTX for daily operations, including risky investments. FTX filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on November 11 after it imploded, wiping out billions in customer deposits.

Toronto School Violence, Difficult Behaviour on the Rise: Report

In a recent survey of Toronto school principals, 80 percent said they’re ill equipped to maintain school safety. About 40 percent said violent behaviour was on the rise, including physical fights and possession of weapons.

The rise in violence at the Toronto District School Board is on track to being the worst since 2000, when the board began collecting data, according to the Toronto Star.

The Toronto School Administrators’ Association (TSAA) surveyed its members and released a report detailing the post-pandemic uptick in school problems, a copy of which was obtained by the Globe and Mail.

Johnny can’t read because literacy is racist but he does know he’s really a girl.

Not a surprise given the TDSB is a woke cesspit overrun by lunatics who should never have been allowed near children in the first place.

You breed violence by pretending the enforcement of standards of acceptable behavior and academic achievement is racist.

As it stands the TDSB is just a variant of the TTC Homeless Shelter, a place to park all the little thugs.

How to stop the poison? Smash the teacher’s unions, take over the boards, wrest control of the teacher’s colleges, enforce a sane curriculum, fire the whackjobs wholesale.

Good luck.

This is another reason Toronto is turning into a shithole city.

Xi’s Moscow mission is to ensure the Ukraine war has one winner — him

Xi Jinping is not going to Moscow to make peace.

His meetings with President Putin on Monday and Tuesday and his virtual talks with President Zelensky are clearly intended to look like an effort to end the war in Ukraine. And indeed the

Chinese leader would surely prefer the conflict to be over than to see it continue. Already, in just over a year, it has damaged China’s interests in various ways: by reinvigorating Nato, by undermining Beijing’s efforts to mend diplomatic ties with Europe, by weakening demand in crucial export markets, by galvanising the rearmament of Japan, by prompting the United States to rush weapons to Taiwan.

But Xi has a more urgent priority: his aim is to ensure that Russia does not lose.

Federal public servants got $200M in bonuses last year despite frequently missed targets

Despite only meeting performance goals less than 60 per cent of the time, federal public servants received just under $200 million in bonuses last year, mostly to public administration executives.

That brings total bonuses handed to federal workers during the COVID-19 pandemic to over half a billion dollars, paid out between the 2019–20 and 2021–22 fiscal years.

UK has tens of thousands of potential terrorists who are one trigger away from an attack says Met Commissioner

Mohammed cartoon protest London, England.

Identifying most dangerous terrorists like finding ‘needle in haystack’, Sir Mark Rowley warns

The UK has tens of thousands of potential terrorists and identifying the ones who are likely to carry out an attack is like finding a “needle in a haystack”, Sir Mark Rowley has warned.

While the most dangerous extremists in Britain are closely monitored by the police and security services, there are many more who share the ideology but lack the “spark to act”.

The Met Commissioner said the trigger was often something that happened in their personal life, making it extremely difficult for the authorities to keep on top of.

The Commissioner cites 6400 referrals to the UK’s Prevent “anti-terror” Program.

Prevent was found under a recent review to have falsely focused on the so-called “right-wing” terror threat while ignoring the very real Muslim terror threat because they were afraid of offending the Islamists.

‘Political correctness’ meant Islamist extremism was downplayed by Prevent -Home Secretary’s words come as review finds scheme operated a ‘double standard’, downplaying religion and talking up Right-wing dangers
