‘This truck can’t do normal truck things’: YouTube star says towing with Ford’s new electric pickup is a ‘total disaster’ in viral video

It’s no secret that electric cars are becoming more and more popular these days. But will the EV trend carry over to pickup trucks?

According to Tyler Hoover — who runs the Hoovie’s Garage YouTube channel with 1.45 million subscribers — an electric pickup truck might not be a great option if you need to tow something.

In a viral YouTube video, Hoover tried to tow an old 1930s Ford pickup with his brand new Ford F-150 Lightning. The test didn’t go well, as the new electric truck used up way more range than expected.

Harry and Meghan’s UK popularity plunges following Netflix series release

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity in Britain plunged as their Netflix documentary series was released, according to a YouGov poll.

Just one-third of Britons – 33 per cent – now hold a positive view of Prince Harry, while three in five, or 59 per cent, hold a negative opinion of him.

It represents a 13-point drop since November, his joint lowest score since YouGov began tracking royal favourability in 2011.

Meanwhile, almost two-thirds of the public hold a negative opinion of the Duchess, representing a seven-point drop since November.

Fusion energy’s false dawn

A potentially exciting breakthrough shouldn’t detract from urgent energy needs

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm will announce a major breakthrough in nuclear fusion on Tuesday. Over the last two weeks, the National Ignition Facility of the federal Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California shot three lasers at a deuterium-tritium fusion fuel pellet, heating it until it induced a fusion reaction. This particular fusion reaction generated more power than used in the lasers shot at it.

Granholm will hail this as a “major scientific breakthrough.” And it is. But we’re still a long way away from the promise of bountiful clean energy that fusion promises.

Cambridge Dictionary updates definition of ‘woman’

Nope. No mental illness here.

Cambridge Dictionary has updated its definition of ‘woman’ to include anyone who “identifies as female” regardless of their sex at birth.

The online dictionary recently added a supplementary definition of a ‘woman’ which includes transgender people.

It now states that as well as definitions including an “adult female human being”, a woman can also be “an adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth”.

Canadian medical grads trained abroad are increasingly giving up on their home country for work

With nearly 300 Canadian students enrolled in its programs, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland feels a lot like a medical school in Canada, just separated by 3,340 kilometres of Atlantic Ocean.

While this historic university in the heart of Dublin has been producing doctors since 1784, in recent decades, it’s become an important training ground for many young Canadians who go overseas to pursue their dreams of becoming a physician.

More than 40 per cent of the students in RCSI’s four-year medical program are from Canada – more than any other nationality.

‘Somewhere along the line something bad happened – that pi***d someone off enough to go after them.’ Retired Moscow police captain says Idaho killer was motivated by REVENGE – as victim Kaylee’s father reveals she had ‘big open wounds’

The retired Moscow police captain who spent 20 years investigating every local homicide in the Idaho city says it’s likely the perpetrator responsible for the murder of four college students last month knew at least one of the victims and may have been seeking vengeance.

‘When you use the word “targeted,” it means somewhere along the line we met,’ former Moscow Police Captain Paul Kwaitkowski, 64, told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.

‘Somewhere along the line, something bad happened, something that pi***d someone off enough to go after these people.’

King and queen of the crypto con may be turning on each other

They were one part of a “Chinese harem polyamory” group set up in the Bahamas that mixed sex, pills and crypto. Now Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, the two executives at the center of the collapse of cryptocurrency firm FTX, appear to be turning on each other.

After Bankman-Fried suggested she might be to blame for a missing $8 billion in customer money, Ellison could be signaling she’s willing to flip on her old boyfriend with the hiring of the law firm Wilmer Hale.

Top white-collar attorneys point out that Wilmer Hale is among the most politically connected white-collar law firms in the country. It has a reputation for cutting deals with the Manhattan US Attorney’s office, itself the country’s premier prosecutor of business-related crimes.

She’s rollin.

Anthony Furey: The Real Problem With Canada’s RCMP-China Contract

It’s of course good news that the federal Liberal government has put the brakes on a contract that a firm partially owned by the Chinese government had scored to work on sensitive RCMP technology. But we also need to ask what mindset allowed it to happen in the first place.

Last year, Sinclair Technologies won a contract to provide radio frequency equipment for Canada’s federal police service. Sinclair’s parent company is Norsat International, which is in turn owned by Chinese telecommunications firm Hytera.

A Russian blogger has been fined for “discrediting the Russian military” after describing a vivid dream he had about Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president.

Ivan Losev, 26, of Chita, in Russia’s far-eastern Zabaykalsky region, was unaware his Instagram social media account was being monitored by officers from the country’s Federal Security Service.

He was fined 30,000 rubles (£390) after a local court convicted him of being in breach of a law that cracks down on dissent against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Singh says he could abandon deal to support Liberals if PM doesn’t take action on health crisis

The New Democrats are ready to withdraw from the confidence-and-supply agreement they signed with the Liberals if there is no federal action to address the health-care crisis, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said Monday.

The deal reached in March committed the NDP to supporting the minority government on key votes in the House of Commons to avoid triggering an election before 2025. In exchange, the Liberals have promised to make progress on a number of NDP priorities, including health care.

Mainers make considerably more than New Brunswickers

Earlier this fall, census data revealed that households in New Brunswick earned less than all other Canadian provinces in 2020. And now, findings from a recent study reveal some glaring disparities between New Brunswick and New England states including Maine.

New Brunswick and Maine share many similarities including geography, culture and demographics. The age of the population in both jurisdictions is quite similar, and prominent industries such as forestry, manufacturing and the government sector tend to represent similar shares of the economy (as measured by GDP).
