A progressive movement to install liberal activists in district attorney’s offices across the country is beginning to backfire, with voters in some cities reconsidering their choices and Republicans in others organizing ahead of the next election .

Liberal billionaire George Soros has sunk millions of dollars over the past several years into boosting candidates that have advocated reforms such as ending cash bail, barring prosecutions of minors as adults, and declining to bring cases against a host of less serious, but frequently disruptive, violations of the law.

Some of the candidates he helped install have presided over severe increases in violence.

Why Putin Must Be Defeated

May 9, Moscow. The annual military Victory Day Parade was held in Red Square, but with fewer soldiers and military vehicles than in other years. The parade had been cut by 35%. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s short, sober speech tried to justify the war of aggression he had launched against Ukraine on February 24.

Putin seemed on the verge of defeat. A month earlier, in an apparent debacle, the Russian Army had hastily left the Kyiv area. Countless Russian soldiers had been wounded and killed; the loss of military equipment was unimaginable. A report from the UK Ministry of Defence on May 15 said that Russia had lost a third of its combat forces and much of its heavy equipment.

Although Boston’s Jewish leadership “has to be the most pro-feminist bunch of people that you’ve ever met,” this “didn’t faze them.”

Jacobs also showed the leaders checks from the mosque to terror organizations, and from those organizations back to the mosque. “Nothing helped,” he said, as the leaders decided to “give [the Islamists] the benefit of the doubt” because “they’ll come to know us and like us . . . because we’re likable.” Jacobs said he “begged the leaders” to “go tell the mayor of Boston what we know,” and to “go show them what the FBI says about these people.”

It’s damn near comical. And entirely applicable to Canada save for a few recent moments of clarity.

Bill Gates Funds China’s Scientist Recruitment Project

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is giving money to the Chinese regime amid the regime’s bid to tempt foreign scientists into the country.

Bill Gates’s foundation issued a $100,000 grant in June to the Foreign Talent Research Center (FTRC) of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, according to the Gates Foundation’s website, the National Pulse first reported.

The funding is to help the Chinese regime organize a forum hosted by Zhongguancun—China’s state-sponsored silicon valley—on “pandemic preparedness and response.” The forum has featured top leaders of the regime as speakers including, in its 2021 event, regime leader Xi Jinping.

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby lost her reelection bid to defense attorney Ivan Bates in the Democratic primary after she was indicted by a grand jury on federal charges alleging that she used coronavirus hardship as a reason to take money out of her city retirement account.

The Associated Press called the race in favor of Ivan Bates, a defense attorney, on Friday night. Bates is a former prosecutor in Baltimore who served from 1996 to 2002 before becoming a defense attorney.

Depression is ‘not caused by chemical imbalance’

Major review suggests low serotonin levels are not a factor and the condition is more likely to be linked to stressful life events

Depression is not a chemical imbalance in the brain and scientists have no idea how antidepressants work, a review by University College London has concluded.

Although one in six adults in England are currently prescribed antidepressants – most of which act by maintaining serotonin levels – the new analysis suggests depression is not actually caused by low levels of serotonin.

Instead, depression may be more strongly equated with negative life events which lower mood, the review found.

This post is by no means meant to be used to belittle or discount anyone’s mental health matters. 

If anti-depressants work for you then great nothing more need be said.

Trust me on this, we all know someone who has or does use them.

The truth about electric vehicle numbers in Canada

Thursday, Statistics Canada released new vehicle sales figures for the first three months of 2022. Some of the numbers might surprise you.

“New gasoline-powered vehicles posted the largest decline, with 13.2 per cent fewer new registrations in 2022” than during the same three months in 2021, “followed by diesel-powered vehicles, down 11.8 per cent.”

Conversely, registrations of new fully electric vehicles were up 55 per cent.
