SJW fatigue: Why anime & manga are conquering the West

In the West vs. East battle of entertainment industries, manga, anime and Korean dramas are steadily gaining ground

Be it films or comics, audiences seem to be growing tired of what the Western entertainment industry has to offer and many are turning their attention to the East.

For a long time, Hollywood and the American comic book industry have been seen as international media behemoths. It used to be that they never even faced any serious competition. But lately, they seem to be losing that grasp. The last decade of film and comics has seen a sharp decline in quality. And while, of course, there have been some HUGE successes like Marvel’s MCU films, raking in billions of dollars, nevertheless, it seems evident that audiences are growing tired of the same old formulas being rehashed over and over again.

Since cutting the cable and subbing to a couple of Streaming platforms I have had the chance to watch fare such as “Squid Game” which I enjoyed and also dull witted PC pap like “Designated Survivor.” The latter was so bad I could not finish it.

It gave the world a deadly virus and took no responsibility for it — and the world shrugged it off.

What can you say about a country that trashed the planet Earth with a deadly virus? That it knew what it was doing?

China has gotten away with it: businesses and industries destroyed or damaged; massive recession and unemployment; medical systems strained to the point of collapse; countries rent asunder by populism; transport systems in disarray; interruption of children’s education and development; loss of confidence in governments; rising mental illness, anger, and civil disobedience; vulnerability of the elderly and those with underlying conditions; and nearly twice as many American dead than in World War II. The full effects of COVID-19 and its variants are yet to be known.

Ontario’s provincial election is rapidly approaching and while campaigning has already gotten well underway, the process itself comes with several unknowns.

The issues facing Ontario voters on June 2, 2022, will be similar to other elections before it. The state of the economy, handling climate change, and tackling housing affordability are all issues expected to get a lot of airtime. But like all things in the world these days, the COVID-19 pandemic and recovering from it is destined to overshadow many issues. And potentially, it may affect how the campaigns themselves function.

No one normal is talking about climate change.

Two Afghan brothers are charged in Germany with murdering their sister ‘because of her Western way of life’

Two Afghan brothers have been charged in Germany with murdering their sister, whom they allegedly wanted to punish because of her Western way of life.

The men, identified only as Sayed H., 26, and Seyed H., 22, due to Germany’s privacy laws, are accused of luring their 34-year-old sister Maryam H. to a meeting in Berlin on July 13, before choking and strangling her and cutting her throat.

German prosecutors say that the brothers dismembered the mother-of-two’s body and then took a taxi to a train station later that day with her body in a suitcase.

Until yesterday, people who tested positive were asked to isolate for 10 days. As of yesterday, people who test positive are asked to isolate for five days and then — if they have no symptoms — to mask up for the next five days if they plan to be around other people.

Europe needs to step up to deter Russia in Ukraine

The Ukraine crisis should be a wake-up call for European nations to boost defense spending and finally take seriously France’s calls for European strategic autonomy. And yes, Americans should cheer them on.

Presently, Europe is heavily dependent on decisions made in Washington regarding whether or how to counter the Russian threat, largely because they lack the collective military heft to deal with Russia on their own. Washington, however, has good reason to dither; few have any appetite for a war with Russia, or for “dying for Kyiv.”
