Xinjiang: Twitter closes thousands of China state-linked accounts spreading propaganda

Twitter has shut down thousands of state-linked accounts in China that seek to counter evidence of human rights abuses in Xinjiang, as part of what experts called an “embarrassingly” produced propaganda operation.

The operations used photos and images, shell and potentially automated accounts, and fake Uyghur profiles, to disseminate state propaganda and fake testimonials about their happy lives in the region, seeking to dispel evidence of a years-long campaign of oppression, with mass internments, re-education programs, and allegations of forced labour and sterilisation.

“Fruity Ass” relevance in dispute: Jussie Smollett’s lawyers claim judge ‘lunged’ at one of them, ask for a mistrial

CHICAGO — Jussie Smollett’s attorneys asked for a mistrial Thursday after the judge called their evidence irrelevant in front of the jury and “physically lunged” at one of the actor’s lawyers.

The odd fracas came in the midst of the defense’s cross-examination of Olabinjo Osundairo, who claims he was paid to help Smollett stage the hate crime, as attorney Tamara Walker grilled him about his alleged homophobia and past derogatory remarks toward suspected gay men.

Osundairo, 30, had just acknowledged he used the word “fruity ass” to refer to a man he suspected was gay and Walker asked if Smollett, who is openly gay, knew he’d said such things in the past.

Alec Baldwin says he doesn’t feel guilty about shooting dead cinematographer and is convinced he won’t face charges

Mighty tears!

A tearful Alec Baldwin said on Thursday night that he would have killed himself if he felt responsible for shooting dead camerawoman Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie Rust, but that he doesn’t feel guilty and believes he won’t face charges for the accident.

Baldwin broke his silence on the shooting in an interview with ABC where he went from criticizing the likes of George Clooney for chiming in on the tragedy, to crying and talking about how ‘loved’ Hutchins was and how he’d bonded with her widower after accidentally killing her.

He maintains that he didn’t pull the trigger and that the gun just ‘went off’ while in his hands on the set of the movie in New Mexico on October 21.

Canadian Constitution Foundation defends woman’s right to fly F*CK TRUDEAU flag

CCF lawyer and spokesperson Christine Van Geyn defends flying the “F*CK TRUDEAU” flag as a fundamental freedom.

“Like every citizen of Canada, Melissa has a Charter-protected right to express her political views. She is flying a flag on her own property, expressing a political sentiment that frankly is not even that uncommon. If her flag bothers some people at Port Colborne city hall, I suggest they drive down a different street instead of trying to tell Melissa what she can and cannot say.”
