It was quite the handover at Kabul airport this week. The last American troops to exit Afghanistan reportedly left facing an ‘elite unit’ of the Taliban. In a season finale that the most dystopian screenwriter would have struggled to invent, the elite Taliban unit was itself bedecked in US military kit. That is, they were not only wearing uniforms and protective kit provided by the fleeing US army, but were parading the airport with US-provided guns in US-provided vehicles.

The Progressive Insanity of Norwegian State Television

A double dose of agitprop.

Living in Norway, I’m compelled to cough up cash every year to fund NRK, the state-run media entity whose many TV channels and radio stations, funded to the tune of a billion dollars a year (in a country of five million people), proffer massive daily doses of its own pro-welfare state, pro-immigration, pro-Islam agitprop (critics call the network ARK, for “Labor Party Broadcasting”) as well as imported material that also serves its own propaganda purposes. I rarely watch NRK, but I did put it on last Thursday night to watch a live “town hall” in which the three leading candidates for prime minister — national elections are scheduled for September 13 — took questions from a studio audience in Trondheim.

Boy does this sound familiar.

In the summer of ’72, I lent my Led Zeppelin 4 album to a girl down the street, Karen F., and in turn she lent me Black Sabbath – Paranoid (which included War Pigs) and Alice Cooper – Love It To Death. It was a life changing experience at 12 years old! I had purchased the new Led Zeppelin album during Easter break because Robin W., who sat near me on the school bus liked Black Dog on the radio. She was a year older than me and reached ‘early physical maturity’ in a large way. Believe me she was impressed I had LZ IV!

We have a new category called ‘Chicks Can’t Rock’ & I’m gonna torture y’all with it. 😉 Oh and BTW, I used to be the sound guy for a band – do you have any idea how hard it is to play rhythm guitar and sing? Okay, now think about playing lead and singing at the same time. Crazy hard, eh? This woman is playing both rhythm and lead and singing, the guy on stage with her is only playing bass. Show a little respect for her talent.

And damn look at Go Go Ray on drums!

The 2016 trip was Mr. Trudeau’s first visit to China as Prime Minister, and he arrived with high expectations. He wanted to rekindle a relationship with a rising superpower whose consumer markets and bulging capital accounts offered opportunity for Canadian commerce.

Mr. Trudeau also saw a role for Canada in furthering China’s interests.

“He was saying that, like his father had helped China to rejoin the United Nations, he would help China to occupy its rightful place on the international scene,” said a person who was in the room. The Globe and Mail is not identifying the person because they are not authorized to disclose what took place in the meeting.

USA Today’s fact-checkers need a fact-checker.

USA Today’s Daniel Funke, the reporter behind the newspaper’s botched report on President Biden’s watch fiasco has been hammered by critics on social media for playing “the victim.”

Funke originally reported in a “fact-check” Wednesday that accounts of President Biden checking his watch during the solemn transfer ceremony honoring the 13 U.S. service members killed at the Kabul airport terrorist attack was “partly false.” Funke insisted that it occurred “only after” the ceremony.

A change in law in New York has allowed for the filing of more than 9,000 child abuse claims – including cases against Prince Andrew, Bob Dylan and high-profile Catholic priests – previously blocked by the state’s statute of limitations.

Tom Andriola was 25, standing on the edge of Bryce Canyon in Utah, and an impulse to jump kept flashing through his mind.

It had been 14 years since Mr Andriola’s adopted older brother sexually abused him, but the memory was still raw. There, on the edge of the canyon, in the seclusion of the park, his wife became the first person he told.

“I truly thought if I spoke anything about this, that he was going to come and kill me,” Mr Andriola recalled.

I did not go beyond the Liberals and Conservatives because they are the only parties that have any chance of forming a government, and in any case I protest against the exclusion from the debates of Maxime Bernier who is probably the most impressive of the party leaders and has the best program in many respects. He is being discriminated against by the debates commission.

Israel: Still the ‘Strong Horse’

Israel — no longer diplomatically isolated — appears to be assuming a more prominent political and military role in the Middle East. Following Israel’s generous peace terms with its Arab neighbors, states such as Egypt and Jordan decided decades ago to establish diplomatic relations with the Jewish state. More recently, Islamic countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan also decided to normalize ties with Israel. Presently, these strong new ties appear to be leading to cooperation on an ever-deeper strategic level, especially regarding the destabilizing threat to the area posed by an increasingly aggressive and hegemonic Iran.
