Well at least it isn’t the toilet

I am guilty of having enabled Buddy’s habit of drinking out of the bathroom sink. Yes I run the water for him. Though I have learned to keep the toilet seat down. Little black paw prints all over the sink etc are something I’ll have to live with.

With the warmer weather I have been introducing buddy to the balcony, supervised excursions only. Pip loved to spend his afternoons there soaking up the sun and we learned not to fear leaving him alone. Boisterous Buddy on the other hand seems less aware of consequences and a leash and harness may be in order.

Google is testing its controversial new ad targeting tech in millions of browsers. Here’s what we know.

Today, Google launched an “origin trial” of Federated Learning of Cohorts (aka FLoC), its experimental new technology for targeting ads. A switch has silently been flipped in millions of instances of Google Chrome: those browsers will begin sorting their users into groups based on behavior, then sharing group labels with third-party trackers and advertisers around the web. A random set of users have been selected for the trial, and they can currently only opt out by disabling third-party cookies.

Although Google announced this was coming, the company has been sparse with details about the trial until now. We’ve pored over blog posts, mailing lists, draft web standards, and Chromium’s source code to figure out exactly what’s going on.

Facebook has confirmed it pulled the social media accounts of Noah Green, the 25-year-old suspect who mowed down two Capitol cops, killing one, before being shot dead at the US Capitol.

The social media giant said in a statement to CNN it had suspended Green’s accounts from Facebook and Instagram under its policy around dangerous individuals and organization, in the wake of Friday afternoon’s deadly attack.

‘ABSOLUTELY INSANE’: Torba Blasts Facebook’s Plan To Partner With Government On Vaccine-Verified Facebook Profiles

Zuckerberg described the new program in glowing terms, stating, “It lets you easily show your support and tell people that you’ve been vaccinated. And we’ll show you in News Feed your friends who have put up this profile frame.”

The Georgia House strikes back at Delta

Just as Georgia was a flashpoint after the election because of the run-off election for the Senate, Georgia is again a flashpoint now that the Democrats, led by Creepy Joe, are demonizing the sensible steps the Georgia Legislature enacted to prevent election fraud. What’s amusing about the Democrats’ histrionics is watching as corporations that have earned brownie points for years by being woke, are getting slapped around by the left for not being woke enough. Even funnier is that, when Delta Airlines responded by “woking up,” the Georgia House stepped in to slap it around some more.

Slowly but surely the government is gathering the media into its ghastly embrace

I don’t want to alarm you, but you might like to know that the federal government is about to take over the media.

Perhaps you will think I am exaggerating. But before the spring is out, based on its own announced timeline, there won’t be a patch of grass on the media landscape – broadcasting or newspapers, digital or analog, curated or user-generated – that the government does not either regulate or subsidize or both. If takeover is not the word, what is?

Carson Jerema: Why Canada is rigged against Alberta — and any province that isn’t Ontario or Quebec

Climate change policy would not create such tensions in the country if Canada was built for more than two provinces.

Blocking is Back: Why Internet Blocking is the Next Big Canadian Policy Battle

In early 2018, Bell led a consortium of companies and organizations arguing for the creation of a new website blocking system in Canada. Complete with a new anti-piracy agency and CRTC stamp of approval, the vision was to create a new system to mandate site blocking across ISPs in Canada.

Mass Media Lies: From Outright Fake News, To Declaring ‘Fairness Is Overrated’ To ‘Doggy Doo’ Reporting, The MSM Racing Each Other To Find Rock Bottom

I almost miss the days when the media was obsessing over everything Donald Trump did, said, or even how many scoops of ice cream he liked to eat with his pie, and lying about it all blatantly, because watching their death spiral just months after losing their “golden goose,” overwhelmingly shows they still haven’t quite hit rock bottom yet, but they trying really hard to find it.

The funding comes from the left-wing Ford Foundation, which touts on its website its history of fighting for social justice and that the organization is led by a “diverse” board of directors.

I Work in the Public School System. Critical Race Theory Is Everywhere.

Like a cancerous tumor that has metastasized in the body, Critical Race Theory and its variants including social justice; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI); anti-racism; cultural competency; and implicit bias have poisoned all aspects of public education and even some private schools. These hateful and racist philosophies have become entrenched in every level and aspect of American public education.

You can’t deradicalise every terrorist

Too many jihadis treat rehabilitation with contempt

Can terrorists be “deprogrammed”? It is one of the most daunting and complex questions facing European states today, and one of the most urgent. Just a few years ago, over 40,000 people from 80 different countries were attracted to Islamic State’s expanding tyranny in Iraq and Syria. Today, as the “Caliphate” they dreamed would last until the end times lies in rubble, close to 2,000 have returned to Europe, including some 450 to Britain.

Vaccination Passports: The Cornerstone of a Totalitarian State Ushering China’s Social Credit System into America.

Vaccination passports, like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want everyone to be forced to carry, are profoundly un-American.

This data-driven authoritarianism, if it comes to pass, will wash away what remains of the rule of law and the Constitution, and annihilate the American way of life.

The tyranny of racial groupthink

The tyranny of racial groupthink

Individuals are being routinely reduced to their skin colour.

One of the few things we all seem to agree on today is that we live in a polarised age. Polarisation cements groups while pressurising the individual. I was persuaded of this time and again while interviewing mixed-race Britons for my new book Biracial Britain, which explores a category of individuals obliged from birth to navigate various racial groups in their everyday lives. ‘The politics of today complicate the lives of mixed-race people…”
