LILLEY: Danielle Smith on target, moves to strengthen self-defence laws

Once again, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is right on target, moving to strengthen self-defence protections and push back against Ottawa’s gun policies — promising new guidance for police and prosecutors on when charges should, and shouldn’t, be laid. While Smith’s agreement with Prime Minister Mark Carney saw some criticism at her weekend United Conservative Party conference, her statements on defending your home and family drew wild applause.

Europe’s Green Energy Rush Slashed Emissions—and Crippled the Economy

European politicians pitched the continent’s green transition to voters as a win-win: Citizens would benefit from green jobs and cheap, abundant solar and wind energy alongside a sharp reduction in carbon emissions.

Nearly two decades on, the promise has largely proved costly for consumers and damaging for the economy.

Europe has succeeded in slashing carbon emissions more than any other region—by 30% from 2005 levels, compared with a 17% drop for the U.S. But along the way, the rush to renewables has helped drive up electricity prices in much of the continent.

Usual suspects see opportunity to flood Canada with 3rd World Benefit Shoppers by suspending Safe Third Party Agreement In response to Trump’s asylum halt

Trump’s halting of asylum claims prompts fresh calls to suspend Safe Third Country Agreement

Lawyers and refugee experts say U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that his country will halt all asylum claims should prompt the Canadian government to suspend the Safe Third Country Agreement, which they say is now unworkable.

The agreement mandates that asylum seekers must make a claim in the first country they arrive in, which allows Canada to turn away potential refugee claimants who enter the country from the United States as it is considered safe there.

Deadly mass shooting in California erupted when toddler was cutting her birthday cake: ‘They deserve to go to hell’

The mass shooting in California that killed four people, including three kids, erupted just as a toddler was cutting cake at her 2nd birthday party, according to her mom — who said the shooters “deserve to go to hell.”

The birthday girl’s mother, Patrice Williams, said partygoers dropped to the floor as soon as the gunshots rang out inside the packed banquet hall in Stockton on Saturday.

… Authorities haven’t identified any suspects but have indicated the shooting was gang-related.

Gang related? That is cartel level violence.

‘Barely holding on’: More than 1M Ontarians visited a food bank in last year

Ontarians continue to be using food banks at a record-breaking rate, with a new report warning the number of users grew for the ninth straight year as some families are “barely holding on.”

“What we’re seeing is really a greater depth of need in with the affordability crisis,” said Carolyn Stewart, CEO of Feed Ontario which released the report. “It’s really pushing more families from really that just getting-by area to barely holding on.”

We are being asked to support our replacement. Much pushback in the comments here.

What is rarely revealed is the number of “migrants” , “foreign students”,  “TFW’s” etc… who use the foodbanks.

US Homeland Security secretary calls for “a full travel ban on every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies”.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said she will recommend a travel ban on several countries which she claims are “flooding” the US with criminal activity.

Writing on social media on Monday, Noem said she had met President Donald Trump and decided to suggest “a full travel ban on every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies”.

Trump and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) then shared Noem’s post on their respective official social media accounts.

We need a Kristi.

Governor General’s pricey Rideau Hall ice rink project raises fresh scrutiny

Indian name means “Put it on the tab”

A new batch of Access To Information records shows Rideau Hall quietly pushing ahead with a multimillion-dollar skating pavilion, even as Ottawa warns Canadians to prepare for leaner days.

Blacklock’s Reporter says Governor General Mary Simon approved plans for a permanent open-air rink complete with artificial ice and a decorative roof, but staff refused to say how much taxpayers will ultimately spend.

Conservatives say removal of religious exemption in hate-speech laws an assault on freedom of speech

OTTAWA — Conservatives say a deal between Liberals and the Bloc Québécois to remove a religious exemption from hate-speech laws in exchange for passing a bill targeting hate and terror symbols is an “assault” on freedom of speech and religion.

But the Bloc Québécois said the change was necessary to help prosecute rising hateful and antisemitic rhetoric, often made under the guise of exempted religious speech.
