Charlie Kirk murder suspect Tyler Robinson can wear civilian clothes in court, judge says

The man accused of killing right-wing activist Charlie Kirk will be allowed to wear civilian clothes during pre-trial hearings to avoid prejudicing potential jurors, a Utah judge has said.

Judge Tony Graf said Tyler Robinson will be required to wear restraints during hearings, but photo or video of him in restraints will be barred.

Robinson, 22, was arrested on aggravated murder charges on 12 September, more than a day after Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Japan Sees Anti-Immigration Protests in 15 Cities

Videos circulating online show protesters gathering across Japan on Sunday to oppose what they view as as overly lenient immigration policies.

The demonstrations came less than a week after conservative lawmaker Sanae Takaichi was sworn in as Japan’s 104th—and first female—prime minister, following a campaign that tapped into a reservoir of growing anti-immigration sentiment.

The protests underscore ongoing skepticism among Japan’s right-wing circles that Takaichi and her ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will go far enough to address their concerns.

Carney mum on whether he saw Ontario’s own goal anti-tariff ad beforehand … Dougie Ford says he did!

The question of whether or not the prime minister and his chief of staff saw and approved — either directly or tacitly — an Ontario government anti-tariff ad that set off U.S. President Donald Trump followed Mark Carney to Singapore on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister’s Office said there would be no further comment on the television ad, which last week led to the meltdown of sectoral trade negotiations with the United States.

Dougie says you lie Carney!

Ford may have have been lead to believe Carney had no objection to the ad when it was in fact Carney’s desire to use it to scupper any possible deal with Trump or he simply didn’t find it a provocation which makes him dim like Ford.

The treatment of British Jews proves the lie at the heart of multiculturalism

London

If you want proof that multiculturalism is a lie, look no further than the plight of British Jews. Targeted on our streets; threatened and spat upon as they go to and from synagogue; their children’s schools hidden behind prison-like security; seldom able to open their communal newspapers without seeing a report of a fanatic calling for the slaughter of fellow Jews in Israel.

This is Jewish life in the UK today. Only part of it, of course, for there are also the sweet hopes of Rosh Hashanah, the sukkah-building and celebrations of Sukkot, and the lights and latkes of Chanukah. But whatever their level of involvement in communal life, few British Jews live their lives unaware of the grim mood music.

Can Canada build a new oil pipeline? That’s ‘overfocusing’ on a ‘hypothetical,’ energy minister says

OTTAWA — Federal Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson says the question of whether there is a business case for a new bitumen pipeline in Canada will be up to the private sector to decide.

He also suggests the question of whether the country can, in fact, build a new oil pipeline to be an “overfocusing” on a “hypothetical.”

“I think Canada can build many things,” Hodgson told National Post in a wide-ranging interview on Monday.

Carney don’t want no pipeline.

Ford’s anti-Trump rhetoric came up repeatedly in trade negotiations: sources

Canadian officials may have said they were caught off guard last week when U.S. President Donald Trump announced he was cutting off trade negotiations with Canada over Ontario’s anti-tariff advertisement, but sources say Premier Doug Ford’s bad cop act— and tough words for Trump — has been an irritant.

Two sources with knowledge of the talks said the Americans had warned Canadians “for months” that the Ontario premier’s comments were troubling to the Trump administration.

CBC News is not naming the sources because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the trade negotiations.
