I spent my twenties and early thirties immersed in the world of “Red Pill” content, an online, male-centric subculture. I began as an observer and later became a recognizable voice within it. I spoke at Red Pill–themed conferences like the 21 Convention and the Conference of Masculine Excellence, appeared on shows such as Fresh and Fit and Rich Cooper Unplugged, and met many of the movement’s most influential figures, including Rollo Tomassi and the Tate brothers, Andrew and Tristan.
The Canadian economy has lost 112,000 jobs just since January. That’s the weakest four-month stretch since the pandemic. The unemployment rate has climbed to 6.9 per cent.
But a closer look at the numbers released Friday by Statistics Canada reveals two even more disturbing trends.
Is the war between Iran and the US-Israel tandem over bar the shouting? Even a week ago, the question might have sounded fanciful, as President Donald Trump was still threatening to wipe Iran off the map. Now, however, he is talking of “progress” towards a deal confirming what he and his aides, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, present as the end of military engagement.
Several new developments may have contributed to this new optimistic vision.

The head of Canada’s intelligence agency says Alberta’s potential secession vote is susceptible to disinformation and foreign interference from players like Russia.
In an interview with CBC’s The House, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) director Dan Rogers said it’s his agency’s job to “understand and investigate” foreign interference.
“And a referendum like the one in Alberta, that may have a divisive effect on society, is rife for amplification or for the sort of disinformation or foreign interference that we’ve seen from players like Russia in the past,” he told host Catherine Cullen.

On Friday’s All Things Considered, NPR aired a seven-minute interview lamenting Republican redistricting with a man who’s rarely considered. They interviewed Rep. Steve Cohen, Democrat of Memphis, who is a white man who’s long represented a majority-black district. The online headline had drama: “Tennessee Democrat speaks about his erased district.”
An unknown number of Toronto police drug squad officers will be the subjects of a conduct investigation by Ontario’s police watchdog, the Star has learned.
The investigations will commence following the end of the criminal case against Brian Sukhram, a detective constable with Toronto’s drug squad who is accused of stealing evidence from an investigation and attempting to obstruct justice.
Sukhram was first arrested in 2024 for impaired driving, a charge he pleaded guilty to earlier this year. Court heard that prior to his arrest, Sukhram had been drinking alcohol inside the Toronto police drug squad office after executing a search warrant.
The Greek government has warned that there are over half a million migrants waiting in Libya to cross the Mediterranean and land in Europe, sparking concerns of another migrant crisis.
Greek Migration Minister Thanos Plevris said this week that Athens estimates there are approximately 550,000 migrants waiting in Libya, the African hub, for the opportunity to cross to Europe.

OTTAWA – A Liberal government bill that would make it easier for police and spies to navigate the online world is running into fierce opposition from major digital companies, civil liberties groups and law professors who say it would open the door to serious privacy infringements.

Iran has sent its response to US proposals to end the war via mediators in Pakistan, Iranian state media report.
No details have been released. The US has not made details of its proposals public, either, but reports suggest they centre on a 14-point memorandum of understanding, which could lead to negotiations on Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
A ceasefire meant to facilitate talks to end the war launched by the US and Israel in February has been largely observed, despite occasional exchanges of fire.
However, Iran has continued to block the Strait of Hormuz – leading to a rise in world oil prices – and the US has been enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports to exert pressure on Tehran to agree to its terms.
