Kirk suspect ‘not co-operating’ with authorities, governor says

Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer is “not co-operating” with authorities and has not confessed to carrying out the shooting, Utah’s governor Spencer Cox has said.

Suspect Tyler Robinson, 22, was taken into custody some 33 hours after Kirk, a 31-year-old right-wing activist, was shot dead in Orem on Wednesday.

Cox, a Republican, told several Sunday morning shows that investigators were still trying to establish a motive but people around Mr Robinson were co-operating.

Ottawa’s marijuana tax take falls far short of billion-dollar promises

Ottawa’s marijuana tax revenues have stalled at less than a quarter billion dollars a year, far below the billion-dollar windfall once promised by cabinet when cannabis was legalized in 2018.

Blacklock’s Reporter says a Department of Finance memo shows federal-only cannabis revenues were $244 million in 2024, down from $256.7 million in 2020, the year edible products were first licensed.

Inside Nigeria’s horrifying ‘jungle justice’ lynchings from woman burnt alive by a mob over marriage proposal joke to crowd chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ as they stoned man to death for blasphemy

Nigeria woman attacked for alleged Blasphemy

Amaye was working as a food vendor in the remote town of Kasuwan-Garba, Nigeria, when she was attacked by the mob.

A hysterical crowd descended and set her alight after she allegedly made what was taken as a blasphemous remark in response to a tongue-in-cheek marriage proposal at her restaurant.

What exactly was said remains unclear. But witnesses say that it was her comments that sparked the frenzy. State police said she was set ablaze before a reinforcement of security teams could arrive to protect her.

Bonnie Crombie to step down as Ontario Liberal leader after weak show of support

The Ontario Liberals will look to hold their third leadership race since 2020, following a resignation announcement by Bonnie Crombie, who received a weak show of support at the party’s annual general meeting.

Delegates at the Ontario Liberal AGM this weekend voted on whether to hold a new leadership race and 57 per cent voted no.

It was more than the hair over the 50 per cent required by the Ontario Liberal constitution for Crombie to stay on as leader, but some party members had been calling for her to step down if she received less than 66 per cent.

My guess is an Islamist replacement.

Germany’s reaction to Charlie Kirk’s killing was beyond disturbing

The cold-blooded killing of campaigner Charlie Kirk on a university campus in Utah should have been a moment of shared grief for everyone. A young father who believed in and lived by a code of free speech and debate was gunned down in front of horrified students.

As we know, the reaction of certain sections of the Left in Britain and America was appalling. If they offered sympathy it was heavily caveated and, by applying labels like “far-Right”, they appeared to suggest he had brought it on himself.

Yet here in Germany, the response of the media class was even more disturbing. They seemed to revel in it.

How Canada’s Population Growth Hid Its Rising Household Debt Burden

Canadian households are once again piling on debt faster than their incomes can keep up—if they ever stopped. Statistics Canada (StatCan) data show the household debt-to-income (DTI) ratio climbed for a third straight quarter in Q2 2025. It’s still below the 2021 peak, but that drop has less to do with deleveraging and more to do with population growth inflating the income side of the equation.

Tourists love Japan, but under the surface it’s a Land of Rising Anger

Visit Japan and it feels affluent and successful. Roads look like they were tarmacked and painted the night before, and everyone seems to be driving a new (or perhaps just very clean) car. Levels of public safety and trust remain high.

Cities such as Tokyo are abuzz with high-end shops and restaurants. And for all that it’s a tourist-board cliché, Japanese culture really does run the gamut from the timelessness of temples, shrines and festivals through to cutting-edge fashion, architecture and visual media.

An ever-increasing number of tourists — rising to 36.9 million last year — find that all this is available at surprisingly low cost. Japan has had nothing like the high inflation of the UK and US, and the yen remains weak. Find the right restaurant and a sumptuous multi-course meal is yours for the price of a large McDonald’s back home.

Ram Cancels All-Electric Pickup Truck Plan Citing Slowing Demand

Ram has abandoned plans to launch an electric pickup truck, according to a Sept. 12 statement from Stellantis.

“As demand for full-size battery-electric trucks slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product strategy and will discontinue development of a full-size [battery-electric] pickup,” the company said.

In December 2024, the company said it planned on launching its Ram 1500 battery-electric pickup in the first half of 2025.

WHISSELL: What you must know about Canada’s critical minerals

Whether he’s pressuring Ukraine for backpay or speculating about Greenland’s riches, when Donald Trump mentions critical minerals, he’s ultimately concerned with one thing and one thing only: defence.

According to the United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) definition of a “critical mineral,” that makes perfect sense. In concert with the USGS, the US government is clearly focused on how vulnerable supply chains of critical minerals affect their national security.
