‘African tribe’ in Scottish woods say they are not afraid of jail

King Of Scotland

The leader of a self-styled “African tribe” living in Scottish woods says he is “not afraid” of a court order declaring his encampment should be removed.

A sheriff on Friday issued a warrant for the removal of the so-called Kingdom of Kubala, which has been camped in woodland near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders for the past few weeks, after being shifted from nearby land owned by Scottish Borders council.

The Inside Story of Europe’s First Official Gender-Critical Refugee

On a Friday night at 11 p.m. in June 2022, 29-year-old Isabella Cêpa got a DM on Instagram from a journalist with Folha de S. Paulo, one of Brazil’s top newspapers. The journalist asked Cêpa for a response to the news that she was charged with five counts of “racism” for “misgendering” a transvestite politician and could face up to 10 to 25 years in prison. The journalist hadn’t expected her to see the message; the bombshell story was published the following day. It was the first time Cêpa had heard about the charges.

Handgun widely used by Canadian military at centre of RCMP misfiring investigation

The handgun at the centre of an RCMP investigation on Prince Edward Island has been the subject of a flurry of lawsuits and counter-lawsuits involving its manufacturer — and was recently acquired in large numbers by the Canadian Armed Forces.

The pistol, a SIG Sauer P320, allegedly misfired while in a Charlottetown police officer’s holster on Sept. 4.

Several U.S. law enforcement agencies have either suspended or discontinued use of the pistol this year over alleged safety concerns. The gun was also at the centre of an investigation by one branch of the American military following the accidental death of a U.S. Air Force security airman in July.

Alberta man was ISIS propagandist, police say

Writing under the alias “Sulaiman Dawood al-Kanadie,” he penned fiery propaganda for the Islamic State about attacks that would dwarf Sept. 11, 2001.

In the ISIS magazine Voice of Khurasan, he praised the terror group’s late leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, demonized Jews and lectured about fighting jihad.

But the internet wasn’t as anonymous as he thought, according to recently-unsealed court documents that detail the RCMP’s investigation on the case.

The Left’s True Face Revealed: Victim-Blaming and More Over Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

In the wake of the horrific assassination of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, one might have expected America’s legacy media and left-leaning outlets to rally around basic human decency. After all, this was a brutal act of political violence against a prominent voice for freedom, family values, and American exceptionalism. President Trump himself called it a “national tragedy,” and even some on the left issued tepid condemnations. But oh, how quickly that facade crumbled!

Anthony Furey: Doug Ford is right, every cash-grabbing speed camera must go

A funny thing happened earlier this year when many residents of the City of Vaughan complained about speed cameras and one of them was even knocked down shortly after 10 cameras were installed this spring.

Before the cameras were installed, Vaughan Councillor Gila Martow anticipated the backlash and proposed a number of revisions to make the system less punishing. The rest of council didn’t support her on it, but they soon learned the hard way after complaints came flooding in. To their credit though, council then voted for a complete pause to issuing fines until this fall when they’d reassess the issue.

If Ottawa can’t measure immigration, it can’t manage it

Governments that concentrate decision-making at the centre have trouble tackling more than a few issues at a time, and Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is unlikely to be an exception.

There’s been an understandable focus on preserving trade relations with the U.S., building ties with the rest of the world, and advancing new projects to strengthen the economy. These have consumed the government’s time, interest and intellectual bandwidth.

But the government can’t ignore other big issues that are top of mind for Canadians. Crime is one; the Conservatives are talking about it because voters are, and with reason. Another is immigration.

A ‘Je Suis Charlie’ Apocalypse

You’ll remember the phrase “Je Suis Charlie” (I Am Charlie), from the 2015 Islamist massacre of the staff of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. People marched through the streets of Paris with signs saying that. It defeated Islamists, who were never heard from again. (If only!)

The 9-11 Lessons We Have Forgotten

One of the reasons George Santayana’s famous line about forgetting the past resonates is because humans can be so bad at remembering. That’s especially true about the past 25 years of liberal Western democracy. The twenty-first century brand of progressivism that’s corrupted so much Western thinking is all about moving on from a past inevitably deemed regressive. To someone like me, who lived through 9-11 in Manhattan and spent years writing about what we learned from it, the extent to which we have forgotten the lessons of that day and discarded so many of the principles we developed to defend ourselves is shocking.

‘Seriously Missed Opportunities’: RCMP Roadblocked U.S. Probes as Lethal Kingpin Ryan Wedding Consolidated Power

OTTAWA — In Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, Canadians have been dying violently — a pattern pointing to the rise of a global narco-kingpin, born not in Sinaloa, Jalisco, or Cancún, but in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

In January 2022, two men were gunned down in the lobby of the Hotel Xcaret, just south of Playa del Carmen. The victims were Vancouver’s Cong Dinh — long known to police as a money launderer within Chinese networks moving synthetic narcotics into the United States and bringing cocaine from Mexico back to Canada — and Toronto’s Thomas Cherukara, both 34. Six months later, in June 2022, two more Canadians, including one on Interpol’s wanted list for fraud, were found stabbed to death in a Playa del Carmen condominium. In December 2023, Montreal’s Samy Tamouro, connected to the Hells Angels, was shot dead inside a Cancún gym. A year later, another Hells Angels associate, Quebec fugitive Mathieu Bélanger — a high-ranking cocaine trafficker wanted on firearms charges — was sprayed with bullets in broad daylight as he climbed into a new Jeep SUV at a Playa del Carmen shopping plaza, the sicarios tearing off on a motorcycle as bystanders scattered.

Al-Sharaa’s Damascus Regime: Is Sharaa Really Doing All He Can or Was President Trump Set Up?

One of the most unheralded geopolitical developments in the Middle East, following Israel’s military victories over regional enemies, is Israel’s diplomatic reaction to the new regime of Ahmed al-Sharaa (aka Abu Mohammad al-Jolani) in Syria. Recent meetings in Paris between high-level Israeli and Syrian diplomats have reportedly resulted in a de-escalation of tensions as well as in establishing significant security improvements for Israel along its border with Syria.
