In Toronto, cheering when homeowners sell at a loss has now become a spectator sport. Is that a bad thing?

The Etobicoke red brick detached home was on the market for 40 days this summer.

After multiple price adjustments, the three-bedroom, two-bath finally went for $1.545 million, over half-a-million less than when it was last sold, near the height of the Toronto real-estate market in spring 2002.

The reaction? “Excellent.”

Spain: Christian Activist Reported for Hate Crime after Calling Miss Trans 2025 “Sir”

The August celebrations of patron saints in many Spanish towns are a period in which, according to president of Abogados Cristianos (‘Christian Lawyers’) Polonia Castellanos, provocations such as town halls promoting gender ideology or the mocking of Christian religious beliefs are becoming more and more frequent. One of the most recent cases happened in Calviá, a town in Mallorca, where, before an audience of families and children, a queer show was performed, in which an individual dressed in lingerie, pretending to be a woman, made all kinds of sexual comments. Christian Lawyers filed a complaint, arguing that the divisive and controversial show was put on with taxpayer money.

Mark Carney joins in a shameful Canadian tradition

When Mayor Olivia Chow recently revealed that the federal government is preparing to shortchange Toronto on funding to provide shelter for refugees — to the tune of more than $100 million this year — many of us likely felt a sense of déjà vu.

Didn’t we go through this with the last guy? As the number of refugees in the shelter system ballooned under former prime minister Justin Trudeau (from 530 per night in 2021 to more than 5,000 per night in 2025), the feds hemmed and hawed and tried to pass the buck while refugees slept on sidewalks and Toronto’s established homeless population was squeezed into tent cities. Chow’s budget chief, Shelley Carroll, even threatened a civic Trudeau Tax Levy. Finally, in 2024, Trudeau came around.

’Mercy of politics’: Canadian farmers weigh plans as Chinese tariff hits canola price

As Chinese tariffs on Canadian canola products continue to hamper the cash price of one of the country’s most valuable crops, farming experts say producers have big decisions ahead of them.

Market analyst Chuck Penner with LeftField Commodity Research said while future prices are down slightly, the cash price farmers receive for their canola, also known as the basis, is much lower.

‘Overwhelmingly white’ countryside needs more halal food, report claims

The British countryside is “overwhelmingly white” and needs more halal food, a report has claimed.

The University of Leicester’s Centre for Hate Studies has produced a report on the issue of “rural racism”.

Academics have claimed that ethnic minority communities face “challenges” in the countryside because rural England is “overwhelmingly white”.

This creates feelings of “discomfort”, the report states, and the “psychological burden” that comes with “navigating predominantly white spaces”.

When I am King people like those responsible for this report will be automatically deported.

I can make your life better, President Xi tells anti-West alliance

President Xi has outlined an economic vision for his “alternative” group of non-western powers as its members battle a wave of sanctions and tariffs from Washington and its allies.

Xi welcomed the leaders of Russia, Iran, India and other Eurasian states to a meeting of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO), which campaigns for a greater role for non-western powers on the world stage.

Several leaders complained of facing the growing threat of US and EU sanctions. Member states include western bête noires such as Iran, Russia and Belarus, but even supposed friends of the West such as India are facing crippling tariffs from President Trump, in part because of their ties to Moscow.

Introducing Vexillophobia: Fear of the Flag is Britain’s Greatest Madness

I recently returned from holiday. The segue from hot dry days oiled with rosé and factor 30 to a best-of-British grey rainy day was harsh. But as I took myself out for provisions, slapping my sandals through puddles under a leaden sky, my mood lifted. The high street was lined with our beautiful Union flags. Bright red, white and blue cut through the drizzle like fireworks. A reminder that this is home.

Not everyone feels the same. X, that great sewer of national neurosis, is on fire with polarised responses to a few flags on lampposts. Some of us see hope, pride and courage. Others see racism, fascism and the end of civilisation. And so I would like to coin a new word for our times: Vexillophobia.

The students bullied into being woke

NYU Prof Amin Husain

Eighty-eight percent of students admitted they ‘have pretended to hold more progressive views… to succeed socially or academically’

If, as Shakespeare observed, “all the world is a stage, and all its men and women merely players,” no place is that truer than the modern American university.

In the first study of its kind, 88 percent of Northwestern and University of Michigan students admitted they “have pretended to hold more progressive views than [they] truly endorse to succeed socially or academically.” While the phenomenon of college students pretending to be more liberal than they actually are to make life easier for them as they attend these hotbeds of radicalism is not surprising, the true scale of it is.

NDP can no longer count on support of union workers as labour vote splits

A year ago, then-NDP leader Jagmeet Singh’s Labour Day message to workers insisted that his party alone would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with working Canadians and the unions that work to protect their rights.

Six months later, Singh stood outside of an auto plant in Windsor, Ont. during the federal election, hoping to offer support and comfort to workers reeling from news of new auto tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump. But Singh was not greeted with warmth – most of them ignored him entirely, rushing past with their heads down as they came off shift, while some others indicated a preference for the Conservatives and Leader Pierre Poilievre.

The NDP hasn’t represented working class people unionized or not for years.

They have done well with the predatory public service and teachers unions (Being steeped in DEI both unions despise working class white people).

But Singh worked his magic and may have lost even these fellow ideologues forever.

Wir Schaffen Das, Or Not?

Ten years ago yesterday, then German chancellor Angela Merkel said what would become her defining catchphrase: “Wir schaffen das.” In English, “we can do it.” She was, of course, referring to the open-borders policy she was about to foist upon Germany and its people.

The invitation was only supposed to be for Syrians, who were fleeing from their country’s civil war. Shortly before Merkel’s famous speech, an internal communication, Instruction 93605/Syria/2015, had directed German authorities to allow entry to anyone claiming to be from Syria, even without documentation. The official Twitter account for the Federal Office for Migration made a post, intended primarily to inform journalists, that “regulations for Syrian citizens are not currently, for the most part, being implemented by us.” The message quickly went far beyond the intended audience, and spread like wildfire among the refugee camps of Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan. It was spread on Facebook groups and passed around in group chats, encouraging migrants of all nationalities—certainly not just Syrians—to make the journey to Germany.
