Mark Carney’s aspirations in Europe come with some hard truths

Euro Trash Wannabe

It’s a plot fit for a hit coming-of-age television series with a political twist, one featuring a relationship triangle with Prime Minister Mark Carney hopelessly caught between Donald Trump’s United States and the leaders of Europe.

With apologies to the Amazon Prime hit series — and those Canadians who have dutifully cancelled their American streaming subscriptions — call it, “The Summer Canada Turned Pretty.”

But with the nights turning cool and the kids headed back to school, there are no spoilers here.

I suspect Carney’s tenure at the Bank of England has rendered him suspect among his hoped for Euro allies.

Most Americans don’t think Trump can end Ukraine war

The majority of Americans in a poll do not think Donald Trump can broker a peace deal to end the Ukraine war.

According to the data, 78 per cent doubt that the US and its allies will be able to negotiate an end to the more than three years of fighting.

Meanwhile, 67 per cent of US citizens are either “very” or “somewhat” pessimistic that any peace agreement can be reached between Moscow and Kyiv.

I would not bet against him.

I think the universities are the terrorist supporters …

Daniel Koren: Universities must confront campus members who support terrorist groups

As students head back to school this fall, most are expecting what universities promise: a marketplace of ideas, a chance to test their assumptions, and to engage with peers who see the world differently.

Increasingly, however, what they find is something else. Instead of open dialogue, campuses are being reshaped by professors who cross the line from scholarship into activism, and from activism into public support of terrorist groups.

Convoy figure seeking U.S. asylum wanted on Canada-wide warrant

A key figure in the 2022 “Freedom Convoy” who’s seeking asylum in the United States is being sought on a Canada-wide warrant after he failed to appear in court in Ottawa to face criminal charges for his role in the protest.

James Bauder, who left Canada this summer, is facing charges including mischief and intimidation. He claims he’s being politically persecuted and said he’s raised nearly $13,000 online to cover his legal fees.

Earlier this week, Bauder missed a Superior Court date in Ottawa, prompting a judge to order his arrest.

The rising fear of American Christians

Why are churches arming themselves?

Church bulletins don’t usually set passions aflame, but last month, an ad in the newsletter of The Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield, Missouri, did just that. Placed by parishioner John Ray, the ad called to recruit “all young men back to the church to form a militia” at the Legion of Sancta Lana. Those taking up the offer would be tasked with “protecting the Holy Eucharist, our congregation, our clergy and the church grounds from violent and non-violent attacks”.

(From a year ago and oddly prophetic though the author didn’t want to be)

Hmmm: Trans Mass Shooter’s Mom Lawyers Up, Ghosts PD and FBI

All right, I’ll confess my unpopular opinion right up front here. If you find yourself in the middle of a high-profile police investigation, getting an attorney right up front is the smart choice. In fact, every concealed-carry course I’ve ever taken emphasizes the need to wait for your attorney before speaking to police even after an obviously justified self-defense shooting, just because.

The balkanization of Canada is an opportunity for Alberta sovereignty

The collapse of Yugoslavia in the 1990s is often remembered as one of the great geopolitical disintegrations of the late 20th century—an empire of six republics and two autonomous regions that broke apart under the weight of debt, corruption, and suppressed ethnic rivalries.

Yugoslavia appeared stable to the outside world right up until it wasn’t. The country was hailed as a model of socialist prosperity, with free healthcare, jobs for all, and a booming economy. Yet beneath the surface, its foundation rested on unsustainable borrowing. When the debt ran out, the federation quickly splintered into its national parts—Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. What once seemed impossible became inevitable.

The Famine That Wasn’t: How the UN, Media and Hamas Waged a War of Disinformation

Since the invasion of Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023, the international media, humanitarian organizations, and UN-affiliated agencies have relentlessly pushed one of the most damaging blood libels in history: that Israel is deliberately starving the people of the Gaza Strip. In headline after headline, and through “official” UN reports and viral images, the world has been told that Gaza teeters on the edge of famine — or that famine has already taken hold. However, these warnings, loudly declared, have repeatedly failed to materialize.

How China’s Market Dominance Tactics Call for Caution on EV Tariff Concessions

Beijing’s escalation of tariffs on Canadian agricultural products has prompted prominent voices such as Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe to push Ottawa to drop its tariffs on Chinese EVs.

The argument is that Ottawa’s tariffs primarily benefit the central Canada-based EV sector, while Western farmers bear the cost of China’s retaliation, including its recent 75.8 percent tariffs on Canadian canola. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has noted that China understands “divisions” in Canada and that it uses targeted tariffs to divide the country to Beijing’s advantage.

NY Times Welcomes ‘Extreme’ Riley Gaines: ‘Offensiveness Is a Part of Her Brand’

Riley Gaines and deviant

The New York Times devoted nearly 3,000 words Wednesday to a hostile profile of collegiate swimmer-turned-women’s sports activist Riley Gaines, painting her as rude and ruthless in her vengeance tour against transgender males competing in women’s sports.

Reporter Ruth Graham declared off the top in her headline and subhead: “Riley Gaines Finished 5th. Now She Believes Victory Is in Her Grasp; The former college swimmer has used her race against Lia Thomas, a trans athlete, to propel her career as an influential, and unsparing, activist.”

“Use of temporary foreign workers soars in Canadian health care” LPC Gaslighting – import more migrants to ease a system strained to breaking by Mass Immigration

LPC Health Care Advisor

Use of temporary foreign workers soars in Canadian health care

The number of temporary foreign workers in Canada’s health-care sector has soared over the past two decades, rising by nearly 1,700 per cent between 2000 and 2022, as the country struggles with labour shortages that have intensified since the onset of the COVID‑19 pandemic, according to new Statistics Canada data released Tuesday.

In 2000, some 3,200 temporary foreign workers (TFWs) were working in the health-care sector. By 2022, the most recent year for which data is available, the number was almost 18 times larger at 57,500.

“To address the labour shortage in the health-care sector, the Canadian government has been actively recruiting internationally trained health-care workers,” the report said.

14,000 US-bound people have returned south since Trump border crackdown, UN finds

More than 14,000 people, mainly Venezuelans, who hoped to reach the US have reversed course and turned south since the start of Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, according to a report by the governments of Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica.

The phenomenon, known as “reverse flow” migration, is largely made up of Venezuelans who fled the country’s long-running economic, social and political crises only to encounter US immigration policy no longer open to asylum seekers.

They say it like it’s a bad thing!

LILLEY: Our asylum system is being abused and needs to change fast

If all of the people waiting for their asylum claim to be heard right now were gathered in one place, they would form a city bigger than Kitchener, Regina or Burnaby. It’s just another example of the mess the Liberals have created with our once well-functioning and well-respected immigration and refugee system.

There’s nothing broken about it.

The LPC and their cronies see it as just another stream in their mass immigration scam.
