Ontario has no plans to sell U.S. booze amid call from group to return American liquor to Canadian store shelves

The Ontario government has no plans to put U.S. booze back on LCBO shelves amid calls from a group representing U.S. distillers to return American spirits back to Canadian liquor stores.

In a statement released on Monday, Distilled Spirits Council President and CEO Chris Swonger called Canada’s decision to remove a 25 per cent tariff on American spirits a “very positive sign,” but noted it will not have much of an impact as long as provinces refuse to sell U.S. liquor.

“The unfortunate decision to remove American spirits from Canadian retail shelves is not only harming U.S. distillers, but it’s also needlessly reducing revenues for the provinces, and placing unnecessary burdens on Canadian consumers and hospitality businesses,” the statement read.

Mark Carney had no choice but to go ‘elbows down’ – all our allies already have

Prime Minister Mark Carney loves to reach for hockey metaphors. He doesn’t always catch the right one.

Explaining why he was ditching most of the retaliatory tariffs against the United States, the PM said on Friday that “there is a time in the game when you drop the gloves,” to “send a message,” and a time when you “want to put the puck in the net.”

Elbows Up was just an empty slogan all along.

Day 11, still no murders

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, I said to myself a couple of weeks ago. The media told me that Donald Trump was taking over Washington in an authoritarian manner. Finally, I thought, he would lock Hillary up.

The Red Hats Are Coming! The Red Hats Are Coming! The Red Hats Are Coming!

You can imagine my disappointment when I discovered that all the president did was have the FBI arrest a few criminals, ICE deport some illegal aliens, and the National Guard patrol the streets. Oh, and the Guard tore down the pup tents of the vagrants.

WARMINGTON: With ‘elbows up’ era over, it’s wonderful time for another election

We’re just four months removed from a federal election and Kevin O’Leary thinks it’s a wonderful time to call another one.

“Now everybody realizes that ‘elbows up’ is stupid,” said the Shark Tank star in an interview. “It’s stupid. We want trade, not ‘elbows up’ with Americans. Americans don’t hate Canadians and Canadians don’t hate Americans. That’s all BS.”

DEI harms black women

Biden picked Kamala Harris as vice president because she was a black woman.

Biden picked Ketanji Brown Jackson as a Supreme Court justice because she was a black woman.

Biden picked Lisa Cook as a Federal Reserve governor because she was a black woman.

Those are his words, not mine. He picked tokens who had two qualities besides their skin color and sex: 1. They had to be socialists (the kinder, gentler communists) and 2. they had to be dumber than him.

There Is Now Clearer Evidence AI Is Wrecking Young Americans’ Job Prospects

Artificial intelligence is profoundly limiting some young Americans’ employment prospects, new research shows.

Young workers are getting hit in fields where generative-AI tools such as ChatGPT can most easily automate tasks done by humans, such as software development, according to a paper released Tuesday by three Stanford University economists. They crunched anonymized data on millions of employees at tens of thousands of firms, including detailed information on workers’ ages and jobs, making this one of clearest indicators yet of AI’s disruptive impact.

“There’s a clear, evident change when you specifically look at young workers who are highly exposed to AI,” said Stanford economist Erik Brynjolfsson, who conducted the research with Bharat Chandar and Ruyu Chen.

Future of Europe’s Muslim population: Pew study outlines three scenarios for continent’s demographic shift

The Pew Research Center has modeled three different future scenarios of Muslim population growth based on varying levels of potential migration to European countries.

“These are not efforts to predict what will happen in the future, but rather a set of projections about what could happen under different circumstances,” the data collection and analysis group insisted, near the top of their report on the future of Muslim migration to Europe.
