Instead of fixing a surging migrant crisis and stagnant economy, the UK and EU are even trying to censor American critics of their policies
Earlier this month, we led a delegation to Brussels and London to see how aggressive European speech regulations affect American free speech rights in the digital town square. What we saw shocked us.
Last Congress, the House Judiciary Committee examined how the Biden administration pressured social media companies to limit free speech in America. We successfully fought back against that overreach. But today, the most serious risk to free speech comes from across the Atlantic.

VANCOUVER — A new civil forfeiture case in British Columbia has surfaced extraordinary details about a clandestine fentanyl production network that investigators say operated with academic-level expertise, imported laboratory equipment from overseas, and, significantly, relied predominantly on 4-Piperidone, a precursor chemical that Chinese suppliers moved to after the U.S. government cracked down on previous analogs.

For the best part of three years, Friedrich Karl Vialon was one of the archetypal “writing-desk murderers” who kept the bureaucratic machinery of the Holocaust ticking over.
Deployed to Nazi-occupied Riga in 1942, his job was to strip the Baltic states of every asset his staff could lay their hands on: jewellery, boots, winter coats, musical instruments, de facto slaves and gold fillings stripped from the mouths of executed Jews, one of which was reimplanted into the mouth of one of his secretaries.
Vialon performed this task with grim thoroughness, raising the number of Jewish forced labourers in the region from 6,000 to 13,800 and personally supervising the confiscation of belongings at house raids and the nearby SS concentration camp at Salaspils.

Doug Ford promised Ontarians that “the party is over with taxpayers’ money,” when he was running for premier. But the government just released its budget update, and one thing is loud and clear: The party with taxpayers’ money keeps raging on at Queen’s Park.
The Ontario government’s recent budget update confirmed the government plans to borrow $14.6 billion this year. That’s more than double last year’s $6-billion deficit.

On August 3rd, activists of the radical far-left Antifa staged a protest against an AfD district party conference in the western German town of Unna.
Many of the demonstrators covered their faces with scarves and sunglasses, despite Germany’s legal ban on facial concealment at public gatherings.

More older Canadians say they want fewer legal immigrants admitted to the country than their younger counterparts do, according to a recent survey.
The poll, conducted by Research Co. with 1,000 adults nationwide in late July, found that views on immigration in Canada “fluctuate widely by age.”
“By a 7-to-1 margin, Canadians aged 55 and over prefer a decrease in legal immigration levels over an increase,” said Mario Canseco, president of Research Co., in a statement on Aug. 14.

The Canadian Press is projecting Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has won the byelection in the rural Alberta riding of Battle River—Crowfoot.
Poilievre was leading by about 5,500 votes with almost 20 per cent of polls reporting just over an hour after voting closed.

In a creepy Substack video, Trump-hating James Comey, former FBI director-turned amateur life coach, uses Taylor Swift lyrics to bash the president.
He titles the five-minute rant, “On Taylor Swift,” but spends a lot of time griping about Trump, who last week had the nerve to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and try to jumpstart negotiations to end the deadly Ukraine-Russian War.

Has anyone noticed the incredible scrutiny that left-wing propaganda bureaus (formerly known as “news media”) give to every little disease outbreak?
Let’s take measles, for example. It’s a virtually harmless childhood disease. You get measles once, and you’re immune for life.
When I was a child, whenever any of our friends got the measles, it was time for a slumber party. All the kids who weren’t immune from previous outbreaks got the measles, and stayed home from school for a few days.
Saint John’s International Culturefest, according to the festival’s website, is supposed to be “a vibrant celebration of multiculturalism, community, and connection.” But it erupted into chaos on Aug. 2, when demonstrators gathered around an Israel booth, engaging in what some members of the Jewish community have described as threatening and intimidating behaviour culminating in an alleged assault and two arrests. No statement was made by the committee organizing the festival or the local police. The story was largely ignored by local media.
This was the scene in St. John’s today, a #CeasefireNOW March.
Are these protesters standing up against anti-Semitism?
Oh, and by the way, is anyone speaking up for the poor souls held hostage by #HamasTerrorists?

What’s not to like about multiculturalism? After all, isn’t diversity our strength? Don’t cultural influences from around the world add spice and flavor to the bland, Eurocentric West, which some people even say has no culture of its own? Take food, for example; as everyone always points out when this topic comes up, different cultures bring a smorgasbord of vibrant cuisines to the West! Also rape gangs, no-go zones, and machete attacks, but that’s a small price to pay for a corner kebab stand.
In recent weeks, two types of women in revolt have been sighted on the streets of Britain, defined by opposing outlooks and experiences. One group rails against Israel, the other objects to illegal immigration.
What they have in common is their sex. They are mothers, wives, grandmothers, but there the similarities end. What divides them is class.
Outside the Britannia Hotel Canary Wharf where illegal migrants are being housed, the British ladies, all dressed in pink have blocked the road singing – police have threatened to arrest them. They don’t care pic.twitter.com/mG7bJF7jOT

“Let’s put our political stripes aside and start working together collectively on large infrastructure projects, on other areas that he can cooperate with the government,” he added, on his way out of a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney.
After his meeting with Carney, Doug Ford is asked by CBC reporter Kate McKenna what his advice for Pierre Poilievre would be.
Ford "Work with the Prime Minister."
Follow-up "How so? "
Ford "Let's team Canada. You know, let's put our political stripes aside and start working… pic.twitter.com/S9HuugClUf
