Flag wars boil over as activist confronts workers tearing down St George’s Cross on orders of council that prided itself on Palestinian banners

This is the moment a furious Londoner confronted workers tearing down St George’s Crosses on the orders of a local council – as Sir Keir Starmer waded into the row.

Tower Hamlets in east London previously prided itself on its displays of Palestine flags, but said any England banners attached to council property by an online movement called ‘Operation Raise the Colours’ would be promptly removed.

The initiative has spread to towns and cities including Bradford, Newcastle, Norwich and Swindon – with activists putting up English flags and Union Jacks in defiance of council bans.

In the UK, Two-Tier Justice Is Now Undeniable

If there was ever any doubt about the existence of a two-tier justice system in the UK, the case of Ricky Jones just eliminated it.

Last Friday, a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London cleared Jones, a now suspended Labour councillor, of encouraging violent disorder at a protest last August. Jones attended a counter-demonstration in Walthamstow, London, in response to a planned right-wing protest—one of many last summer, sparked by the Southport murders. Surrounded by his fellow protestors, Jones made an impassioned speech, captured on video, denouncing the far Right: “They are disgusting Nazi fascists. We need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.” At this point, Jones drew his finger across his own throat.

Poll shows Chinese Communist Party has higher approval rating than Trump among Canadians

A poll recently conducted by Gallup has found that the Chinese Communist Party has a higher approval rating than United States President Donald Trump among Canadians.

The vast majority of Canadians disapproved of Russian President Vladimir Putin, though the margin between him and his American counterpart was rather slim.

Trump says peace agreement is attainable after meeting with Zelenskyy

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday a peace agreement for the war in Ukraine is attainable as he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders.

Trump, speaking with reporters at the White House, said all would prefer an immediate ceasefire, but that he was optimistic that an agreement could be reached to deter aggression in Ukraine.

Trump said he covered “a lot of territory” in his talk with Zelenskyy, saying the day had been successful thus far.

Carney, Ford shift focus to what ‘we can control’ amid U.S. trade uncertainty

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford put the focus on making Canada globally competitive rather than securing a trade deal with the United States as they met in Ottawa on Monday.

Carney and Ford were meeting on Parliament Hill as trade talks with the United States show little signs of progressing.

Ford was asked by reporters after the meeting Monday what he felt the chances were for a tariff-free deal with the United States, but he said U.S. President Donald Trump’s behaviour was “unpredictable.”

CHARLEBOIS: Plastic ice cream and cow-free butter? Pushing food too far?

Producing butter without cows, pastures, or even crops — using only carbon and hydrogen synthesized in a laboratory — sounds like science fiction.

Yet, in the era of climate urgency and resource constraints, it’s increasingly being framed as the next frontier in food innovation. A new generation of philanthropists and investors is betting on disruptive technologies to reimagine how we produce food.

Sharia police in Paris

Christopher Hitchens, the late English journalist, tried to warn us fifteen years ago:

“Please, resist while you can. Because one day they will call you Islamophobic. The barbarians will not have take the city as long as someone keeps the gates open for them, and it will be the multicultural authorities who do it for you. Resist while you can. And if you ask yourself what will happen if you don’t, look at how a cricket team in England had to change its name because it was called the Middlesex Crusaders. Resist while you can.”

Resist? Instead, we see surrender.

NFL Tries Male Cheerleaders. That’s the Left’s Plan to Win Back Men?

In an age where every individual curates their own media diet, the collapse of the monoculture has led to more than just fractured tastes; it has made broad cultural adoption nearly impossible. No longer are Americans collectively tuned into the same primetime sitcoms, watching the same cable news shows, or even encountering the same commercials. And this diffusion of attention means experiments in reshaping cultural norms often fail not because of a coordinated backlash, but because of the algorithmic echo chambers they inadvertently land in.

The Palestinian Authority’s Human ‘Slaughterhouse’

France, Canada, Australia, the UK and other Western countries that recently pledged to recognize a Palestinian state have said that their decision is “predicated” on commitments from the Palestinian Authority (PA) to undergo critical governance reforms, as well as excluding the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group from a future Palestinian government.

None of these countries, however, has demanded that the PA halt its human rights violations against its own people. Ending financial and administrative corruption and excluding Hamas from governance is pointless as long as the PA continues to crack down on its political rivals and impose severe restrictions on freedom of speech.

Ottawa-imposed ‘airport rent’ is driving up cost of plane tickets, think tank finds

OTTAWA — A leading free-market think tank is calling on Ottawa to stop playing landlord to major airports, arguing that exorbitant land rental fees are driving up the cost of domestic air travel.

“Using airports as cash cows instead of treating them as critical infrastructure hurts families, workers, and patients who depend on reliable air service for treatment access,” says Samantha Dagres, the communications manager at the Montreal Economic Institute (MEI).

They really do not want you to travel.
