Conservative leader runs for safe seat in parliament after Canada election defeat

Canada’s federal conservative leader will have a second chance of winning a seat in parliament when residents of a rural Alberta district cast their ballots in a closely watched byelection on Monday.

Pierre Poilievre’s bid to take the safe seat of Battle River-Crowfoot comes four months after the Conservatives’ defeat in April’s federal election, in which the party leader lost the riding he had held for more than 20 years.

It was an unexpected blow for the 45-year-old career politician who, before the election was upended by Donald Trump’s threats to annex Canada, had been widely expected to become the country’s next prime minister.

The Crime Stats Aren’t Just Faked…They Leave Victims Behind

There are people behind the statistics you see…and the statistics you don’t.

With all the storm and strife about crime in D.C.–the Democrats insist that crime is an illusion and everybody rides unicorns in the District–it’s easy to forget that crime statistics are not just numbers. Every red dot on a map or number in a chart represents a life that was ended, or at least upended.

Shut down. Cut down. Stolen by the dozens: Why Toronto is so fast and so furious about its speed cameras

Somewhere right now, in the city of Toronto — in a garage, a basement or a dusty shed — likely sits the decapitated husk of a speed camera.

Or maybe there are 12 of them, piled up. The spoils of theft and vandalism. Victims in a culture war that’s hit the side streets of Canada’s biggest city.

This has been the summer of the speed camera.

Crazy leftists call other crazy leftists crazy

Entertainment industry leaders criticize TIFF’s handling of October 7 film in open letter

More than 1,000 entertainment leaders have signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) critiquing how the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) handled the film, The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue.

The letter is a response to TIFF’s disinviting the film but then offering to work with the filmmakers, following a public backlash. TIFF later announced it would be an official festival selection.

And now back to our usual craziness … Trump Is Hitler!

Playboy leaves Los Angeles for Miami Beach; CEO calls California ‘anti-business’

Playboy Enterprises announced on Wednesday that it will relocate its headquarters from Los Angeles to Miami Beach, becoming the latest high-profile company to abandon California in favor of what some call more business-friendly environments.

Ben Kohn, chief executive of Playboy, described California as being “anti-business,” saying the state is an “extremely expensive place” to operate.

Send them back … TDS Afflicted Drama Queens Flee Trump For Canada

Moving to Canada no easy road for these people fleeing Trump’s America for political reasons

Robert Apgar-Taylor vividly remembers the day he and his husband, Robert Taylor, crossed the border into Canada, fleeing the changing political climate in their native United States in hopes of a safer life in Canada.

“We took a picture at the border. It was winter,” said Apgar-Taylor. “We wore our plaid shirts and hats, and showed our immigration papers with the moving truck behind us. We were so excited.”

To avoid confusion, this story refers to Apbar-Taylor’s husband as Rob.

We’re not exactly getting America’s best and brightest.

Shocking footage shows illegal-migrant driver make outrageous rogue U-turn, killing 3

Terrifying video shows the moment a minivan ploughed into a tractor-trailer making an outrageous rogue U-turn on a Florida highway last week — with all three people in the van killed and the truck’s illegal-migrant driver charged with homicide.

The roadway horror happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday on the Florida Turnpike near Fort Pierce when the tractor-trailer driven by suspect Harjinder Singh made a hard left turn across the highway and attempted to cross the median through an “Official Use Only” pass, authorities said.

New GPS Data Reveals Exactly Who Showed Up At White House Protests

Dark-money-funded leftist NGOs were at it again this weekend, attempting to stage a color-revolution-style regime change in Washington, D.C., right outside the White House. But as with every operation this year, dating back to “Tesla Takedown,” the only people these far-left groups, funded by rogue billionaires and some with taxpayer funds, managed to summon were the usual unhinged white baby-boomer liberal, serial protesters at best, with nothing else better to do

Half of young Canadians spending more than 50% of earnings on rent

Roughly half of young renters and a third of tenants at all ages are spending the majority of their after-tax income on rent, according to a new report.

Experts say the survey, which was published by Rentals.ca this week, shows that the adage of limiting your rental expenses to one-third of your income is simply no longer possible for many Canadians – a situation that could threaten the ability of renters to adequately save for retirement.

I find it sickening that the Globe which advocates for continued mass immigration pretends to give a damn about anyone squeezed out of housing by corporate Canada’s imported scabs.

Hope for Canada? Bolivia heads to a presidential runoff as 2 decades of left-wing dominance ends

LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) — Bolivia’s presidential vote headed to an unprecedented runoff after elections Sunday that ended more than two decades of left-wing dominance in the Andean nation but signaled voters’ trepidation about a major lurch to the right.

A dark horse centrist, Sen. Rodrigo Paz, drew more votes than the right-wing front-runners, although not enough to secure an outright victory, early results showed.

Paz, a former mayor who has sought to soften the edges of the opposition’s push for tough austerity to rescue Bolivia from a looming economic collapse, will face off against right-wing former President Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga, who finished second. Bolivia holds the presidential runoff — its first since its 1982 return to democracy — on Oct. 19.

Family paid smugglers to reunite after separation by CBSA at Quebec border

A Haitian family was separated at the Quebec-U.S. border this spring due to what an immigration lawyer calls a “legal glitch” some fear could become a wider problem as more migrants flee the United States into Canada.

The family attempted to enter Canada at the official land crossing in Lacolle, Que., in March, according to immigration documents.

They are not in danger in the United States, we have no obligation to accept any of them.

Europe is rearming, but will it be united enough to face down Russia?

In the end, the great Anchorage face-off was a muddled affair. But whatever Presidents Putin and Trump did or didn’t agree about the fate of Ukraine over nearly three hours of talks, one thing remains clear: Europe wasn’t in the room.

Sir Keir Starmer and other European leaders were reassured by Trump’s Alaska statement that the US is prepared to give security guarantees as part of a peace deal in Ukraine. The prime minister called this “important progress” and “crucial in deterring Putin from coming back for more”.

But the underlying trend remains: America’s uncoupling from European security continues and it is increasingly apparent that if Europe wishes to be the master of its own fate, it will need to completely transform its approach to defending itself.

Ford’s ‘Model T moment’ couldn’t come at a worse time

Ford Motor calls its new electric vehicle initiative a “Model T moment” because of what the company says is its potential to revolutionize the sector the way its first car did for motoring more than a century ago.

But the automaker’s announcement last week that it will invest billions of dollars in a redesigned, value-priced EV pickup truck comes at a time when gale-force headwinds threaten to make the effort more of an Edsel moment – and not just for Ford.

It may be too dire to suggest Ford is walking into a propeller of anti-EV factors hampering the market. But the timing of its push could not be more challenging, as demand, sentiment and legislation are all going the wrong way.
