Sweden Democrats Say No to Reducing Police Standards for the Sake of Diversity

The police forces should not “mirror” society but “protect” it.

Officials hoping to change police entry requirements to increase diversity are facing pressure from Sweden Democrat politicians who stress that forces should not “mirror” society but “protect” it.

A new report from Sweden’s National Audit Office complains that one-fifth of female applicants to the police fail the strength test—which involves lifting a weight from the ground to the chin—and that one in three applicants with a foreign background fail the aptitude test.

Trans children more likely to be white and privileged, says head

Transgender children tend to be “white and privileged”, Britain’s so-called strictest head teacher has claimed.

Katharine Birbalsingh, head of the Michaela Community School in Wembley, northwest London, said her school was unlikely to have any trans pupils because of its mainly ethnic-minority intake.

Birbalsingh, who previously worked as the government’s social mobility tsar, told The London Standard: “If one actually did a survey on this sort of thing nationally, I think you would find that white privileged kids would be more likely to be doing that. No question.”

The Leger survey, which polled 1,537 Canadians between May 16 and 18, suggests that 55 per cent of Canadians understand Albertans’ desire for independence.

Spain’s blackout story is disintegrating

The stench of a cover-up hangs over Spain’s giant blackout, the worst electricity failure in any developed country in modern times.

Faith in the current investigation has reached rock-bottom. The socialist government of Pedro Sánchez is trying to buy time with explanations that either make no technical sense or veer into absurdity.

Red Eléctrica, which runs the grid, is accused of stonewalling everybody.

St. Louis emergency management chief on leave after failing to sound sirens for deadly tornado: report

They/Them

The city of St Louis placed its emergency management chief on leave after the staffer failed to activate the tornado sirens before a deadly twister tore through the Midwestern metropolis, according to reports.

Five people were killed, dozens were injured and thousands more were impacted by the tornado last Friday that critics say was made dramatically worse by the failure of the city’s emergency manager to sound the alarm after receiving a National Weather Service alert, according to CBS News.

Toronto council approves ‘bubble zone’ bylaw limiting protests

After more than a year of debate, Toronto city council approved a controversial motion on Thursday to limit protests outside places of worship, schools and child-care centres.

The bylaw, which will come into effect July 2, allows owners of these institutions to apply for temporary zones of 50 metres within which protests would be banned. This is an increase over staff’s initial recommendation of 20 metres. According to city staff, there are 3,000 buildings in Toronto that could qualify.

Our Men in Blue have proven very effective at arresting Pro-Life demonstrators who run afoul of abortion clinic bubble zone restrictions.

Why am I doubtful they will deal as effectively with incursions from the same politically connected LPC-NDP-Hamas alliance?

Randall Denley: Ontario’s school boards have gotten seriously out of hand

New Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra wants to fix apparent financial incompetence at some of Ontario’s largest school boards, and so he should. The problem is the fixes will only be temporary unless the provincial government is willing to make fundamental changes in the way school boards are run.

Ontario’s education governance is designed to fail. Trustees are elected, but not responsible for the taxes that pay for the province’s schools. This inherent lack of responsibility has turned some boards into lobby groups for higher spending. Why not demand more if you don’t have to ask voters to pay for it?

If this is a serious effort it may be a backhanded way of ridding school boards of their DEI Komisar’s and the teacher’s union’s toxic agenda.

BBC accused of downplaying white farmer killings in South Africa

The BBC has been accused of downplaying the killings of white farmers in South Africa in its reporting.

Robert Hersov, an influential South African businessman, criticised the broadcaster as “Leftist” and “woke” in its coverage of the issue, which rejected Donald Trump’s claims of a genocide.

Mr Hersov said the broadcaster “should be disbanded”, adding: “There is no nuance in their coverage – they are just Leftist.”

Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ raises major questions: Can it be built? Should it? What’s Canada’s role?

U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” missile defence system, which Canada has expressed interest in joining, is raising questions about the project’s cost and feasibility as well as concerns about a space-based arms race.

Trump’s plan is modelled after the Iron Dome that protects Israel — a land mass smaller than Vancouver Island — and aims to be more robust and hundreds of times bigger.

The Iron Dome is mainly built to defend against lower-flying threats like short-range rockets, mortars and shells, while Trump and other top U.S. officials say the proposed Golden Dome would block missiles fired from other countries and from space, weaving together existing technologies with future tech that still needs to be developed.

Is Right-wing extremism really Germany’s greatest threat?

Is Germany overrun with violent Right-wing extremists? A recent article in Politico covering a surge in “extreme-right crime” would suggest so. Germany’s interior ministry recently published a report on “Politically Motivated Crime” and, at first glance, the alarmism appears to be justified.

The number of politically motivated crimes did indeed increase sharply in 2024, rising by over 40% compared to 2023, where German authorities recorded more than 84,000 incidents. Most of these, however, are not crimes against a person or property. The majority of these cases are categorised as propaganda offences, meaning inciting, insulting or offensive messages that have been spread online or otherwise.

JAY GOLDBERG: Trudeau’s censorship czar retakes the helm

Liar.

Prime Minister Mark Carney should repeal the Justin Trudeau government’s dangerous censorship law before it comes into full force.

Sadly, with Steven Guilbeault appointed as the man responsible for overseeing the Canadian identity ministry, Carney appears prepared to double down on the censorship drive of the Trudeau years instead.

Why the pessimism?
