Canada and Europe are collaborating on defence. What that might look like.

OTTAWA – As U.S. President Donald Trump continues to cast doubt on the future of the NATO military alliance, Canada is looking to partner with the European Union on defence.

Here’s a closer look at what’s driving this major shift in transatlantic relations.

What problem is Europe trying to solve?

Tesla Terror Attacks Show Americans Aren’t Buying the Left’s Fake ‘Grassroots’ Game Anymore

Under President Trump, political violence and domestic terrorism should be met with zero tolerance.

In recent history, the radical Left has mastered the art of illusion. They conjure up so-called “grassroots” groups to protest any idea they deem problematic while using a shady network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to slap an organic and community-driven shine on every idea.

But in reality, they’re professionally manufactured, lavishly funded, and tightly controlled by the same network of left-wing billionaires and political operatives we have known about for years. With the Tesla “protests,” Americans are finally seeing behind the curtain — and it’s all because the playbook hasn’t changed since the Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots of 2020, which themselves were an outgrowth of the Occupy Wall Street movement, which grew out of prior communist movements, and on and on.

After Germany’s Elections, the AfD Could Still Have the Last Laugh

Alice Weidel may get the last laugh yet.

The co-leader of Germany’s most popular party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), was visibly amused on Tuesday morning when Friedrich Merz, the head of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), lost the first vote for the Bundestag’s next chancellorship. Never before in German history had a presumptive chancellor been rejected in an initial ballot. But 18 members of Merz’s 328-member governing coalition had bolted and cast their secret votes against him. That betrayal left Merz six votes shy of the bare majority of Bundestag seats (316 out of 630) needed to assume the chancellorship. After a hastily convened second round, Merz pushed his total up to a sufficient 325 votes (with three holdouts, still anonymous), but the damage had been done.

Terry Newman: Nova festival exhibit shows survivors still paying dearly for October 7

On Tuesday, I visited the Nova Music Festival Exhibition — a travelling installation dedicated to the memory of the brutal massacre of 411 Nova music festival attendees and hostage taking of 43 others by Hamas terrorists in Israel on October 7, 2023 — an event the organizers point out is the largest massacre in music history. The exhibit speaks to the remarkable resilience of surviving festival-goers and their desire to heal their community which they refer to as the Nova Tribe. What’s unfortunate, is that doing so requires such a heavy and costly security detail.

Europe’s Illegal Land-Grab: Part III

The international community continues to conspire against the reality of Israel’s existence by testing the limits of its sovereignty and threatening the Jewish right to self-determination and self-defense. Palestinian-Arab society, among the most antisemitic in the world (long before Jewish communities in the West Bank were part of the picture), in which Palestinian Authority government-controlled television, media, textbooks and mosques encourage violence against Jews, praise Adolf Hitler, characterize Jews as “apes and pigs,” and deny the Holocaust, use Jewish “settlements” as a smokescreen to distract from their real agenda based on a single belief held for centuries: Jews do not belong.

CHARLEBOIS: Why tipping in Canada needs a rethink

Tipping fatigue is real — and it’s spreading. What was once a gesture of appreciation has become an increasingly opaque and frustrating part of dining out.

In our cashless, digital economy, Canadians are now routinely nudged — or guilted — into tipping more, often through emotionally manipulative interfaces. Sad emojis for selecting a 15% tip? Prompts for 20% on a $6 latte? This phenomenon, known as tip creeping, has become a serious irritant for consumers.

I’ll be honest dining out or ordering in are things of the past for me unless I trust an establishment from long experience.

The risk of food tampering is yet another feature of mass immigration.

Lib Journalists Delight in New Pope As Possible Anti-Trump Activist

While Americans across the political spectrum celebrated the elevation of an American Cardinal, Robert Prevost to become Pope Leo XIV, liberal journalists took special delight in evidence that the new Pope — just like his predecessor — seems to disagree with the Trump administration on issues like immigration.

Yet Pope Leo’s obvious opposition to same-sex marriage, abortion, and other positions embraced by American liberals received a lot less attention from these same programs.

Thousands Gather for March for Life Rally to Protest Abortion, Euthanasia

OTTAWA—Thousands of people gathered on Parliament Hill for the 28th annual March for Life rally on May 8, calling for an end to the practices of abortion, euthanasia, and in vitro fertilization (IVF).

“We didn’t come here to jostle for power. We came to raise our voices for those who have none,” Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) President Jeff Gunnarson said during a speech prior to the march.

Canada’s housing market is ‘cracking’ under Trump’s trade war: report

Canada’s housing market is “cracking” under the weight of U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war, with housing resales down in markets across the country, a new report said.

The Royal Bank of Canada report looked at the data from the MLS Home Price Index, which is essentially the median price of a house in a market.

The sharpest pullback in people getting into the housing markets has been in southern Ontario and British Columbia, RBC economist Robert Hogue said.

Not to worry they’ll just open the mass immigration floodgates wider to juice the housing shortage.
