The Good Ship Canada is taking on water, and bringing in far too many unproductive crew, and its Captain Justin Trudeau simply re-arranges the deck chairs.

Suddenly, Canada’s economy contracted in the second quarter this year and heads toward a recession, the first high-income country to do so. Canadians threaten to mutiny — a recent poll showed that a majority want Trudeau and his governing sidekick, Jagmeet Singh, out of office.

Lithium deposit found in US McDermitt Caldera may be world’s largest

A lithium deposit discovered in a volcanic crater along the Nevada-Oregon border may hold up to 40 million metric tons of the rare metal — possibly the largest ever in the world, which could have a massive impact on the electric vehicle industry, according to a new study.

The deposit hidden within the McDermitt Caldera is estimated to hold between 20 million and 40 million metric tons, which would be nearly double the current record of about 23 million metric tons found over the summer beneath a Bolivian salt flat, researchers reported in Science Advances.

Not great news for Justin’s battery play.

Government Subsidies Surpass $420,000 for Cricket Food Manufacturers: Taxpayers Group

Companies specializing in the production of cricket-based human food have received substantial subsidies from the federal government amounting to $420,023 since 2018, according to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF).

“Canadians are struggling as inflation pushes up grocery bills, but subsidizing snacks made out of bugs doesn’t sound like the right solution for taxpayers,” Franco Terrazzano, CTF federal director, said in a Sept. 11 news release.

CTF said it “gathered the list of cricket corporate welfare deals by reviewing the federal government’s proactive disclosure of grants and contributions.”

Sask. premier accuses Trudeau of risking trade with India, hiding status of talks

In a letter Moe released Monday, Saskatchewan Trade Minister Jeremy Harrison argues Trudeau is picking a fight with India for domestic political gain and risking access to one of his province’s most important export markets.

Harrison claims the province learned that Canada paused trade talks with India through media reports, and that Trade Minister Mary Ng had not replied to a late July letter seeking an update on the negotiations.
