Hunter’s new special counsel also needs investigating

As US attorney, David Weiss slow-walked the Biden case for years

At long last, Attorney General Merrick Garland decided to appoint a special counsel to continue the investigation of Hunter Biden, his family and associates. His choice: US Attorney David Weiss of Delaware, who has been on the case for several years. He was originally appointed as US attorney by Donald Trump, a point Democrats always highlight without noting that he was promoted by both Democratic senators from the state.

City by the Bottom

Suffering years of misgovernance and growing squalor, San Franciscans give their city low marks. Are public officials listening?

A recent ranking by WalletHub shows that, out of 149 U.S. cities, San Francisco ranks at the bottom for management. We who live and work here are not surprised. San Francisco’s troubles are self-inflicted. In aggregate, Mayor London Breed and the majority of the city’s 11 district supervisors have made the decisions that got us here.

Ukraine fires military conscription officials for taking bribes

Ukrainian conscription officials accused of taking bribes and smuggling people out of the country have been sacked in an anti-corruption purge.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed more than 30 people face criminal charges after an inspection of local army offices exposed corruption.

He said bribery at a time of war is “high treason”.

It comes amid efforts to bolster the armed forces, as Ukraine’s counter-offensive operation continues.

A statement from the president’s office said corruption allegations “pose a threat to Ukraine’s national security and undermine confidence in state institutions”.

Musk says proposed Zuckerberg cage fight to be held at ‘epic location’ in Italy

Elon Musk is in talks with Italy’s government about hosting his proposed cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg at a historic site in the country, but the Colosseum has been ruled out as a venue.

The owner of X Corp and the chief executive of Facebook-owner Meta first raised the idea of a one-on-one scrap in a series of social media posts back in June. The challenge came as Zuckerberg prepared to launch Threads, a rival microblogging site to Musk’s now rebranded Twitter platform.

The Italian culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, said he was discussing holding the bout “in full respect of the sites” where it might be staged, but that it would not be held in Rome.

Rep. Greg Steube Files Articles of Impeachment Against President Joe Biden

Rep. Greg Seube of Florida filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden over his involvement in his son’s corrupt foreign business dealings on Friday.

“It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,” Steube said in a press release. “He has undermined the integrity of his office, brought disrepute on the Presidency, betrayed his trust as President, and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice at the expense of America’s citizens. The evidence continues to mount by the day – the Biden Crime Family has personally profited off Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats, and fraud. Joe Biden must not be allowed to continue to sit in the White House, selling out our country.”

Whole family should be tossed in the pokey.

WGA Protests Outlast 2007-2008 Writers‘ Strike, Which Ended After 100 Days

NEW YORK (AP) — TV late-night comedy scribe Greg Iwinski, 38, was still only an aspiring writer when Hollywood writers held their landmark strike in 2007-2008.

But as he manned the picket lines Wednesday — the day the current strike hit its 100th day, matching the length of the previous one — he was keenly aware of all the history involved.

Hollywood is simply not loved by a huge segment of the general public who’ve learned to ignore LaLaLand. I doubt I will ever feel deprived of their product.

Similar to Trudeau’s pissing match with Big Tech people wish both sides could lose.

Canadian businesses seek to hold on to slave labour supported supply chains for just a wee bit longer

Canadian businesses seek extension on 2024 rules targeting slavery in supply chains

Canadian industries are pushing back against the country’s planned January launch of the Modern Slavery Act, intended to fight forced labour and child labour in supply chains, as mining and apparel trade groups say the government has failed to spell out the details of the law’s requirements.

The act, which passed in May, seeks to push corporations to provide greater transparency about their supply chains in order to avoid abetting what critics say amounts to modern slavery. The new measure takes effect on Jan. 1, 2024.

However, lobby groups, including mining companies and apparel manufacturers, are warning that a perceived lack of clarity about the rules could lead to unwanted penalties and prevent critical goods from entering Canada.

Well someone has to mine rare earths under hazaourdous conditions to make those electric car batteries.

And while they’re at it they’d also like a second opinion on price fixing as there’s a lot of money to be made stealing bread from the mouths of children.

AfD leader says Germany is heading for ‘Rotherham-style scandal’ because of immigration

Germany’s “uncontrolled” immigration policies are leading the country towards its own version of the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal, a prominent figure from the radical right has claimed.

In an interview with The Times, Maximilian Krah, who is spearheading the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party’s European election campaign, said an influx of non-European immigrants could never compensate for a shortfall in the “indigenous” birth rate.

Housing might not be Trudeau’s sole responsibility, but it’s his problem

Justin Trudeau’s recent observation that housing isn’t a “primary federal responsibility” was something of a Kinsley gaffe — the act of inadvertently telling the truth or inconveniently confessing some private thought.

The prime minister was not wholly wrong, per se, when he said housing was not something the federal government has “direct carriage of.” Housing is not like national defence or foreign policy or international trade — areas of policy for which the federal government has sole responsibility. It’s a matter of shared jurisdiction and many of the policy levers and regulations exist at the provincial and municipal level.
