Calgary woman says cost of renting with a pet forced her to live in her truck

Looks like a nice Doggo too.

For two months, Amanda Lease and her four-year-old dog Krue have been living in her pickup truck — sleeping in underground parkades and in front of friends’ houses in Calgary.

Lease can’t find a rental she can afford, let alone one that accepts pets, she says.

“The housing crisis in this city has put us in this position,” she said.

“Even if you find something in your price range that will allow an animal, they hold bidding wars and take whoever’s got the highest budget.”

How do Canadians view the military? Most see it as ‘old and antiquated,’ poll finds

Canada’s armed forces are ready for emergency pronoun deployment under battlefield conditions.

More than half of Canadians (56 per cent) see the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as “old and antiquated,” according to a recent Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News.

The findings are in line with polling the defence department conducted between Dec. 19, 2022 and Jan. 15, 2023. That phone and internet survey found only one in five Canadians saw the CAF as a modern institution, with 29 per cent saying it’s outdated.

Old? But they have Trannies in arms!

The eco-cultists’ war against the car is built on fantasy and delusion

Everything is the culture war nowadays. It may have started over Black Lives Matter and trans rights. But it hasn’t stopped there. Dip into social media with an opinion on cars, public transport, or cycling, and you’d better be prepared for some serious abuse back.

The Uxbridge by-election brought this to the surface. It was a single-issue vote about Sadiq Khan’s plan to expand his Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez) – and the result showed that people in outer London really don’t like it.

US Energy Secretary secretly consulted top Communist China energy official before Strategic Petroleum Reserve releases

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm engaged in multiple conversations with the Chinese government’s top energy official days before the Biden administration announced it would tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to combat high gas prices in 2021.

Granholm’s previously-undisclosed talks with China National Energy Administration Chairman Zhang Jianhua — revealed in internal Energy Department calendars obtained by Americans for Public Trust (APT) and shared with Fox News Digital — reveal that the Biden administration likely discussed its plans to release oil from the SPR with China before its public announcement.

“Secretary Granholm’s multiple closed-door meetings with a CCP-connected energy official raise serious questions about the level of Chinese influence on the Biden administration’s energy agenda,” APT Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland told Fox News Digital.

A Cry for Help from Palestinians

On July 30, thousands of Palestinians in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip took to the streets to protest harsh living conditions and a shortage of power and gas. The protests, held under the banner “We want to live!“, reflected growing discontent among the Palestinians against the Iranian-backed Hamas, which seized control of the Gaza Strip through a violent and bloody coup in the summer of 2007.

At the same time as the Palestinians were demonstrating in the Gaza Strip, armed clashes erupted in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, where at least 11 people were killed, including a senior Palestinian security official, and several others were injured.

Emmanuel Macron blames children of single parents for French riots

France faces an “immense” challenge, President Macron said after disclosing that three quarters of the children prosecuted over this summer’s riots were from single-parent families or in social care.

In an interview with Le Figaro’s weekly magazine, Macron said the figure underlined a breakdown of authority and a decline of trust in parents and schoolteachers, but also in democratic institutions.

His comments were an attempt to flesh out the Elysée’s view that parental failings lay behind the worst urban violence in France for 18 years.

He went to the Justin Trudeau school of crappy lying.
