Alberta, and the rest of Canada, are woefully unprepared for the coming immigration boom

There’s a long list of reasons for Canada to open its arms to newcomers from around the world – but when you invite half a million new people to the country every year, you better be prepared. And it’s looking more and more like we’re not.

It goes beyond the affordable-housing crunch and whether everyone will have access to primary health care. Now, some of the Calgary agencies that help people get settled in the country say uncertainty about funding from the federal government is leading to long waiting lists and layoffs.

This seems deliberately malign.

The ‘QAnon Shaman’ and other Capitol rioters who regret pleading guilty

A growing number of Capitol rioters have gone back on their guilty pleas and apologies – including one of the most recognisable faces from 6 January.

Standing in court, Jacob Angeli Chansley, known as Jake Angeli, seemed like a changed man.

Shorn of the horned headdress, furs and face paint that helped earn him the nickname the QAnon Shaman, he was pleading guilty to obstructing an official proceeding. The charge stemmed from his part interrupting a joint session of Congress, and carried a maximum prison term of 20 years.

These show trials were the evil influence of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

GOLDSTEIN: Canada’s slow growth crisis threatens our social fabric

Canada’s slow economic growth crisis didn’t start with the Trudeau government and it won’t end as long as our politicians are more interested in redistributing our income than increasing it.

As Philip Cross, former chief economic analyst at Statistics Canada, reported in an essay for the fiscally conservative Fraser Institute last week — What is Behind Canada’s Growth Crisis? — Canada’s economic growth expressed as per person GDP, a common measure of prosperity, is at its lowest level since the Great Depression.

If the Uniparty told the truth they’d run on the slogan “A Smaller Piece Of The Pie For You!”

The Black Mirror plot about AI that worries actors

Hollywood actors are striking for the first time in 43 years, bringing the American movie and television business to a halt, partly over fears about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) actors’ union failed to reach an agreement in the US for better protections against AI for its members – and warned that “artificial intelligence poses an existential threat to creative professions” as it prepared to dig in over the issue.

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the chief negotiator for the SAG-AFTRA union, criticised producers for their proposals over AI so far.

I am not sure how this will pan out, perhaps AI actors will be accepted as animation is currently.

At the risk of sounding pervy I expect porn to advance this technology before it goes mainstream.

One good thing, no more woke actors lecturing us about the need to surrender children for sexual mutilation.

Toronto’s Plan to Decriminalize Hard Drugs an ‘Absolute Disaster,’ Says Ontario Premier

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has vowed to fight Toronto’s plan to decriminalize hard drugs, calling it an “absolute disaster” for the city.

“Craziest thing I’ve ever heard,” Mr. Ford said. “Go out to Vancouver, go out to San Francisco.”

“I will do everything I can to fight this,” stated the premier. “Again, this goes up to the federal government. They cannot be following up with [this] request,” the premier said on July 14 while appearing on 640 Toronto, a radio show with Alex Pierson.

Nearly 1,000% More COVID Cases in Public Service After Vaccine Mandate, Labour Board Hears

Federal public service employees put on leave without pay for refusing mandatory COVID-19 vaccination told a labour tribunal that infections in the workforce rose tenfold after the mandate was implemented, citing the government’s own data.

“Why did people become sick in such great numbers in the public service if they were immunized?” asked Bernard Desgagné, who represents two employees whose files are being adjudicated by the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board.

Woman in love with idea of an electric car … the reality not so much

My EV gave me freedom from the pumps, but took away my freedom to roam

I have always loved road trips. It started in my childhood when every so often my dad would arrive home from work early on a Friday afternoon and holler up the stairs to my mom, “Pack up the car, Marsha! Let’s get out of town!”

My sister and I would be thrilled for the unexpected adventure, heading out from our home in Victoria to wherever was appealing — Washington state, the British Columbia Interior, the Rockies.

In the spring, I purchased a new electric Volkswagen ID.4, which has a range of more than 400 kilometres on a full charge, and thought this was the perfect opportunity for a road trip back to B.C. to move the rest of my belongings to Ontario.

EV’s work fine as city cars but even that won’t last if everyone buys one. There simply isn’t the infrastructure to support mass usage on the scale of ICE vehicles so bear in mind that seperating you from your vehicle is the end-game of the Totalitarian Green Scam.

I am hopeful even docile Canadians will revolt if that twit Trudeau attempts to ban their cars.

The “status symbol” value is sure to drop as the virtue signalers clue in to the fact that they have been lied to and ICE vehicles are much more “green” than EV’s.

I am grateful that my condo does not have the capacity to handle EV charging. I would not want one of these potential fire-bombs parked next to my car.

Dossier of ‘critical race theory’ being taught in British schools – including ‘Pyramid of White Supremacy’ and books that tell children as young as four that racism started because ‘white people wanted more control over others’

Don’t Divide Us is headed up by respected academic Dr Alka Sehgal Cuthburt and features Dr Tony Sewell, the chair of the Government’s Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, on its racially diverse board of advisers.

It was set up to foster what they call on their website ‘colourblind anti-racism’, the notion that individuals are worthy of respect regardless of race, religion or the colour of their skin.

They argue that current ‘anti-racist’ activists see group identity before they see individuals, a problem they say risks ‘reinforcing prejudice by dividing us into a world of victims and oppressors.’

Canada announces new path to permanent residency for Ukrainians with family in Canada

Canada is launching a new pathway to permanent residency for Ukrainians who fled Russia’s invasion to stay in Canada with their families.

The program will allow Ukrainian nationals with temporary resident status to apply for permanent residency at no cost starting on Oct. 23, 2023.

Despite the new program, advocates are still questioning federal aid, as only 20 per cent of applicants from the original program have actually arrived in Canada and there is no word yet on exactly how many refugees the new pathway will help.

“There’s an incredible disconnect between what the elected officials show up [in] press conference and say they’re going to do and what actually gets done,” Rahul Singh, executive director of humanitarian organization Global Media, told CTV News.

I have no issue with this program.

However the low rate of applicant take-up from the initial offer may say more about Canada’s sorry state of affairs than Trudeau would ever admit.

I get that Canada was a 2nd choice or fall back destination for most of the original cohort.

It makes sense that refugees would prefer to remain in Europe as close as possible to home.

But those that have relatives in Canada are likely well aware of how Trudeau has run this country into the ground and have wisely elected to seek greener pastures.

Most of the Liberal Party’s initiatives are really just empty promises and a photo-op.

RFK Jr. says COVID may have been ‘ethnically targeted’ to spare Jews

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dished out wild COVID-19 conspiracy theories this week during a press event at an Upper East Side restaurant, claiming the bug was a genetically engineered bioweapon that may have been “ethnically targeted” to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people.

Kennedy floated the idea during a question-and-answer portion of raucous booze and fart-filled dinner at Tony’s Di Napoli on East 63d Street.

Fighting Foreign Influence: Beijing Exploits Gaps in Canadian Law; David Matas Proposes Remedies

Beijing and other tyrannical regimes exploit gaps in Canadian law to advance their transnational repression in Canada, and a prominent international human rights lawyer says this is a problem that calls for comprehensive legislation to combat their foreign interference.

Winnipeg-based lawyer David Matas, senior legal counsel for B’nai Brith Canada, said repressive states like China, Russia, and Iran have been exploiting organizations such as the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to harass and intimidate their own nationals even after they’ve fled abroad to escape persecution back home. He said malign state actors are also abusing conventional mechanisms for international cooperation on criminal matters.
