John Ivison: The limousine and luxury-suite lifestyle of our oblivious, rapacious leadership

Mary Simon GG – stands for Grab & Grabbier

It speaks to the culture of spending that pervades official Ottawa that nobody saw anything wrong with spending $71,000 on limousine services when the Governor General visited Iceland for four days last year, even though much of the program took place half a kilometre from Mary Simon’s hotel in Reykjavik.

Portland butcher who sexually mutilates children admits they face lifetime of infertility, incontinence and sexual dissatisfaction, in now-deleted video

Dr Blair Peters – Nuremberg 2.0 bound

A surgeon dubbed Dr Frankenstein has candidly revealed the downsides of performing genital re-shaping surgeries on transgender children and adults, in a video which has since been deleted.

In the video, Dr Blair Peters, a self-described ‘queer surgeon’ with ‘he/they’ pronouns, pink hair and a ‘passion’ for genital surgeries, says patients face fertility, sexual pleasure and other lifelong post-op complications.

Perhaps more concerning is how Dr Peters — who works at one of America’s most progressive hospitals — presents his procedures, some of which involve robotics, as experimental.

Liberals shouldn’t support Canada’s euthanasia law. It is a nightmarish free-for-all

I’m an English-born Anglican priest who has lived in Canada for 35 years. I regard myself as an orthodox Christian but I suppose I’ve a certain reputation as a liberal on many issues. Philosopher Kathleen Stock rather dismissed me recently in one of her columns as a “progressive clergyman” and the Christian socialist MP Wes Streeting tweeted extremely generously that if he could recommend a single book to support the Christian acceptance of same-sex marriage it would be mine.

OMG I agree with Michael Coren…!

Burner phones, Google searches and pizza crust: How cops busted ‘ogre’-like Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann

The alleged Gilgo Beach slayer was in tears after his arrest on three counts of murder and sobbed “I did not do this,” his lawyer revealed Friday.

However, by the time of his arraignment Rex Heuermann had become silent and betrayed no emotion in court as he was formally charged with murdering three women whose bodies were found on Long Island in 2010.

Heuermann is a family man who is married to his second wife Asa Ellerup, 59. Neighbors told The Post Friday they have two children, a daughter and a son.

DND confirms military officers used govt resources without permission on private Ukraine equipment deals

The Ottawa-based charity Mriya Aid has faced allegations of mismanagement, including providing Ukrainian troops with inadequate equipment.

Canadian Forces officers used federal government resources without permission to help establish a charity that set up private side deals with defence firms and that has faced allegations of mismanagement, including providing Ukrainian troops with inadequate equipment.

Defence Minister Anita Anand and Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre, as well as senior military leaders, were unaware the officers were directly dealing with military equipment suppliers or engaged in behind-the-scenes discussions with Ukraine’s government.

Electric Cars Are a Scam

The left likes to treat skeptics of electrical cars as if they were Luddites. Truth is, making an existing product less efficient but more expensive doesn’t really meet the definition of innovation.

Even the purported amenities and technological advances EV makers like to brag about in their ads have been a regular feature of gas-powered vehicles going back generations. At best, EVs, if they fulfill their promise, are a lateral technology.

The Liberal-NDP deal has changed the political game in ways we still haven’t grasped

Last week’s column considered the diverting possibility that the Liberals could “lose” the next election but remain in power. That is, they could finish with fewer seats than their Conservative rivals and yet govern with the support of the NDP, as they do now.

The idea is both constitutionally proper – the government is whoever has the confidence of a majority of the House of Commons, not the party with the most seats – and plausible: The Liberals have been stuck at 30 per cent or less in the polls for most of this year and show no signs of breaking out.

COVID-19 and lockdowns drove us to drink — particularly to drink at home alone

Lockdowns, closures, and fear of COVID-19 caused many harms, including a significant increase in alcohol consumption. Study after study shows that was the case during the pandemic.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, part of the National Institutes of Health, earlier this year issued its “surveillance report” on per capita alcohol consumption.

What Does the Latest Interest Rate Hike Mean for Your Wallet?

The Bank of Canada has once again increased its benchmark interest rate, this time by .25 basis points to five percent, amid growing apprehension from a number of financial experts regarding its potential impact on consumers. And their concerns are not unfounded.

Let us examine the evidence.

It means the poor will suffer and adding insult to injury Trudeau will let them know that he feels their pain.

Prince Harry ‘panicking’ over money and his future in America with Meghan Markle

Prince Harry is said to be worried about his and Meghan Markle’s future in America.

The couple moved to California three years ago after stepping back from the Royal Family, but it seems they could be set to make their return to the UK.

A source has claimed Harry is “panicking” about their finances following the collapse of their $25million (£20million) partnership with Spotify. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also missed out on receiving an Emmy Award nomination for their Netflix docuseries.

I see Harry going back to GB, but solo.

Canada Confronts Allegations of China-Led Electoral Interference

Reports of possible meddling by Chinese government in Canada’s elections are pressuring Trudeau government

RICHMOND, British Columbia—A series of public revelations about alleged Chinese government meddling in Canadian politics has roiled the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, prompting calls from opposition politicians and China analysts for tighter monitoring of foreign-interference threats within Canada’s borders and a full probe of the alleged activities.

The latest concerns flared when Erin O’Toole, the former Conservative Party leader, said he was told recently by Canadian security officials that Beijing had tried to thwart his path to replace Trudeau as prime minister in the 2021 elections.

Republicans PASS $886 billion ‘anti-woke’ defense spending bill that limits abortion access for troops, funding of transgender medical care and diversity and inclusion initiatives

Republicans in Congress have passed a defense bill that includes limiting access to abortion for troops and limits on transgender care for service members.

The House passed the bill 219 to 210 to set up a showdown in the Senate over the amendments which included banning considering military recruitment from considering diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

The National Defense Authorization Act sets policy for the Defense Department for the year, and is usually routine and widely supported by both parties.

It’s a start.

Majority of Canadians Oppose Government Funding of Newsrooms, Media Outlets: Poll

The majority of Canadians oppose government funding of media organizations and newsrooms, and most want the consolidation of news outlets discouraged in order to maintain healthy competition in the industry, according to a new Angus Reid survey.

A July 13 news release from the polling company says that two possible solutions to declining newsroom revenues, a reduced workforce of journalists, and fewer readers have been rejected by Canadian poll respondents.

‘It was like in world war one’: the foreign volunteers fighting in Ukraine

Standing on a steep grassy hill, a figure in uniform took aim with a rifle. Several shots pinged into a pile of tyres. Nearby, police officers took turns firing from a DShK, or “Dushka”, heavy machine gun, mounted on a green-painted military vehicle. The rounds echoed across the rustic shooting range, scattering swallows. Down a track was a farmstead with cows.

The sniper was not a Ukrainian soldier but a 58-year-old British former marine called Alan. From Plymouth, in south-west England, Alan is one of a small group of foreign volunteers fighting in Ukraine, more than 16 months after Russia’s full-scale invasion. Alan, who declined to give his second name, arrived last September. Soon he will go back to the frontline.
