‘Is This War?’ France Reaches a Turning Point, as Polls Show Marine Le Pen More Likely To Be Trusted Than Other Leaders, Right or Left

Montargis, 15,000 inhabitants, 68 miles south of Paris, will refuse on Friday to celebrate the National Holiday of France, Bastille Day — no fireworks, no street balls. Instead, a brief ceremony will take place to thank the police forces and the fire brigade who rescued the town two weeks ago.

“Three hundred thugs, coming out of nowhere, stormed the inner city. They burned several houses to the ground,” Mayor Benoît Digeon said. “The population had to be evacuated to safer areas.”

Sabrina Maddeaux: Liberals ‘resettling’ asylum seekers by dumping them on the pavement

Just a few weeks ago, on World Refugee Day, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau trumpeted his government’s commitment to refugees. In a statement , he said, “Everyone deserves a safe place to call home … And Canada is stepping up: In 2022, for the fourth year in a row, we were the top country in the world to resettle refugees.”

He concluded it with, “Today, we come together as Canadians to keep our country a welcoming place and help build a safer world for everyone.”

Chow and Trudeau seem made for each other.

Canada pledges $450 million for UN climate change fund

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -Canada will contribute $450 million to the United Nations’ main fund to help developing countries cope with climate change, the country’s climate minister said on Wednesday.

The pledge comes as countries prepare for this year’s UN COP28 climate negotiations. Questions around finance are already looming over the talks on how to cut CO2 emissions, which poorer nations say they cannot do without more support to cope with spiralling costs from climate change-fuelled disasters.

People can’t afford a roof over their head but what’s a few hundred million when you can virtue signal.

I can’t help but feel that Guilbeault and his fellow grifters slosh our money around to their friends to buy a cushy job for themselves once they leave office.

Fox News is sued for defamation by January 6 protestor Ray Epps after Tucker Carlson branded him a federal agent who ‘helped stage-manage the insurrection’

A former Marine and Trump supporter is suing Fox News for defamation over claims he helped incite the January 6 riots.

Ray Epps, 61, claims in a new lawsuit that he became the subject of various conspiracy theories after comments by the network’s former host Tucker Carlson.

The suit states: ‘Just as Fox had focused on voting machine companies when falsely claiming a rigged election, Fox knew it needed a scapegoat for January 6th.

‘They’re Coming for Your Cars’

Even if politicians can push us all into e-vehicles, they will have to be small and scarce to achieve emissions goals.

“The Impossible Dream” is the title of a new report on electric vehicles from the Manhattan Institute’s Mark Mills. After reading the particulars one wonders whether that title is too optimistic. One issue that probably hasn’t received enough attention is that even if politicians can manage to force all of humanity out of cars with internal combustion engines, it will still be extremely hard to meet political emissions targets unless the surviving electric vehicles are small and scarce. What also may not be appreciated given all the alleged innovation surrounding EVs is that production of the minerals needed to make them may become less environmentally friendly, not more.

Seattle public schools will offer ‘gender affirming care’ to students as young as 11 years old at no cost

Schools in Seattle are currently offering free ‘gender affirming care’ to students as young as 11, a prominent parental rights organization has found – already enraging parents.

The service, laid bare in documents obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE) this week, is provided by medical provider Country Doctor Community Health Centers – a facility that already offers hormone therapy and sex-change surgeries for adolescents.

PDE announced the arrangement Tuesday, singling out two health centers in particular – both of which are set in Seattle public schools.

Doug Ford not impressed with Olivia Chow’s threat to take the province to court

WINNIPEG— Premier Doug Ford is not impressed with comments made by new Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow — but says he expects she’ll work “collaboratively” with the province.

“The comments are disappointing — you know, already her first comments are about going to court,” he said Wednesday.

Chow has said the city will sue the province if it expropriates land for its Ontario Place plans, while also calling the province and federal governments “reluctant partners” when it comes to funding for Toronto.

Boom!

Woke up to a lightning strike around 5:30 am.

Everything in the joint turned on due to a power surge.

Now I have power in half my unit.

Waiting for Hydro to do their stuff.

This happened once before and we lost K’s Apple computer and the TV, we had a surge protector installed in the breaker box after that episode.

So far everything that has power is working.

And now for a fridge update …

Thanks to everyone for their help.

In the end it seemed prudent to write the fridge off.

Not only had the fresh food section ceased to work but the door seals are also failing and I just couldn’t justify spending more on a unit we had paid around 1200 bucks for over a decade ago.

11 years seems a long lifespan for an appliance these days. Right now it doesn’t have power.

I hope the replacement lasts longer, I opted for a basic top freezer model from Frigidaire, one they’ve been making for years, lots of good reviews and I’m sure the internet never lies.

Cost is reasonable after a discount with taxes and delivery charges it’s just under $1100.00 Bucks

Delivery is Saturday. That was a motivator, other models I looked at had an August delivery “estimate.”
