Musk suggests Trump is being targeted after indictment: ‘Far higher interest in pursuing Trump’ than others

Twitter owner and billionaire Elon Musk argued that former President Donald Trump’s indictment by the Department of Justice risks losing the trust of the American public.

Trump is the current front-runner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

“There does seem to be far higher interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics,” Musk tweeted Thursday night. He added, “Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement or they will lose public trust.”

The energy transition Ontario really needs is to nuclear

If Ontario wants to keep its lights on and its economy stable, it needs to abandon the fantasy that wind and solar power can make a meaningful contribution to its energy needs. In the absence of untapped hydroelectric sites, the provincial government’s determination to outlaw fossil fuels in pursuit of an all-electric society means Ontario has no choice but to go nuclear.

How Ukraine finally launched its counter-offensive – and whether it will succeed

Ukrainian military opted for a series of mini-offensives in phase one of their counter attack

“Tonight is the night of nights”.

These were the words in the ears of US paratroopers as they boarded planes on Monday 5 June 1944 in Kent.

They were about to step off on the most complex operation in history – the Normandy beach landings that eventually led to the liberation of occupied Europe.

Exactly 79 years later, Ukrainian officers have been quoting these words to their men and women. The long-heralded, much advertised, and anxiously expected Ukrainian counter-offensive against the Russian invader started this week, or at the very least it significantly stepped up a gear.

Justin Trudeau to consider public inquiry into foreign elections interference

OTTAWA—In a major shift, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will now weigh whether to call a public inquiry into foreign elections interference after former governor general David Johnston stunned the government Friday, resigning as outside adviser after weeks of controversy over his appointment and the conclusions of his interim report.

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc, in a statement issued within an hour of Johnston’s resignation, said the prime minister has “tasked me with consulting experts and opposition parties on next steps and to assess who is best to lead that work.”

I bet John McCallum gets the nod.

12m Americans believe violence is justified to restore Trump to power

University of Chicago research finds support for violence to achieve political goals and general distrust of democracy

Two and a half years after the January 6 attack on the Capitol, an estimated 12 million American adults, or 4.4% of the adult population, believe violence is justified to restore Donald Trump to the White House.

Though the number of adults who believe this has declined since the insurrection, recent survey data from the University of Chicago reveal alarming and dangerous levels of support for political violence and conspiracy theories across the United States.

Kenneth Green: Canada’s burning because of bad forest policy, not climate change

Unless you’ve been living in an underground cave, you’re aware that there’s been a massive explosion of forest fire activity across Canada that’s sending clouds of smoke south to our American neighbours. Not surprisingly, they’re not happy — the orange skies are more than a bit reminiscent of Hollywood post-apocalyptic movies.

Judge Declines To Dismiss Lawsuit Against Kim Kardashian, Floyd Mayweather, and Other Stars Accused of Pushing Now-Worthless Crypto Tokens on ‘Particularly Vulnerable’ Fans

A lawsuit against celebrities who promote now-worthless crypto tokens is creating alarms among Hollywood figures as they realize they could be found liable if followers take their advice.

A Los Angeles district judge, Michael Fitzgerald, refused Tuesday to dismiss a lawsuit accusing celebrity Kim Kardashian and two former professional athletes, boxer Floyd Mayweather and NBA player Paul Pierce, of promoting EthereumMax tokens in 2021. According to the ruling, there is proof that celebrities had influence over their followers when they endorsed the tokens.

This was pure scam.

Tucker Carlson takes aim at Barack Obama with bizarre remark about his ‘strange and highly creepy personal life’ in second Twitter show – as more than 40 million people tune in

Tucker Carlson launched a bizarre personal attack on Barack Obama as he used his second Twitter show to urge Americans to ‘cling to your taboos’.

The axed Fox News host amassed tens of millions of views in less than 24 hours after posting the 13-minute monologue on Thursday night, which also made the inflammatory suggestion that white supremacy is simply an ‘unfashionable opinion’.

At one point, he claimed former president Obama, who served two terms from 2009 to 2017, had a ‘strange and highly creepy personal life’. He also spoke about Bill Clinton’s extramarital relationships while talking about how adultery was once ‘considered disqualifying for anyone seeking higher office’.
