“Bigger = better” isn’t working out for wind

Back in February, I had a post on the troubles the wind industry was having with excessive warranty claims. Companies who pioneers in wind turbines, like Siemens and Vestas, had noted huge losses in their quarterly profit reports because of equipment failures under warranty. Coupled with declining orders, their answer was – of COURSE – more government subsidies to artificially prop (*snicker) them up until they got their act together.

GOLDSTEIN: Long medical wait times cost Canadians $3.6 billion last year, says report

Waiting for necessary medical treatment in Canada last year cost more than 1.2 million patients almost $3.6 billion in lost wages and productivity — an average of $2,925 per patient — according to a new study by the Fraser Institute.

The report by the fiscally conservative think tank, “The Private Cost of Public Queues for Medically Necessary Care, 2023” says this is a conservative estimate because it only factors in the median wait time of 14.8 weeks patients face from when they see a specialist to when their treatment begins.

Trump found liable for sexual abuse, defamation in E. Jean Carroll case, ordered to pay $5M in damages

UPDATE: Trump Campaign Statement

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation — and ordered to pay more than $5 million in damages — by a federal jury in writer E. Jean Carroll’s lawsuit accusing him of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman fitting room decades ago.

Carroll, 79, held her head down as the verdict was read — and nodded when she heard the jury finding in favor of her claim that trump, 76, defamed her when he branded her a liar when she spoke out about the assault.

I think he is sunk this time. Desantis it is.

Navarro: Blacks/Hispanics Not ‘Immune’ from Being ‘White Supremacist’

As a follow-up to their earlier conversation on Monday where they denied that mental illness played a key role in mass shootings, even proclaiming that the mentally ill were immune from committing mass shootings, the radical cast of ABC’s The View dove to a new level of lunacy as faux-conservative co-host Ana Navarro proclaimed that blacks and Hispanics were not “immune” from “being a white supremacist.” It’s an accusation that has been leveled at black and Hispanics just for voting Republican.

John Robson: Self-Congratulatory Tone at Liberal Convention Belies the Grim Reality

Apparently it’s grand being a Liberal in Canada. You’re the best, you know it, and you want the world to see you dance before your own tabernacle. Which might not be the best approach just now.

It doubtless seems weird to emerge from the heady atmosphere of the Shaw Centre to a lecture on political tactics from me, of all people. Ditto on humility. But according to the Angus Reid “tracker,” Trudeau’s net approval rating is now minus 20 so those sunny ways aren’t casting much warmth.

Nolte: Get Ready for Movies and TV Written by Artificial Intelligence

One of the primary motives behind the ongoing Hollywood writer’s strike is a concern over artificial intelligence (AI) replacing writers.

For the first time in 15 years, some 11,000 Writers Guild of America (WGA) members have walked off the job, which stops anything in the entertainment business having to do with writing. No guild member can write anything. Even if a WGA member is directing a movie or TV show and wants to change dialogue, he can’t. Everything has stopped, especially the late-night shows that can’t survive without up-to-the-minute comedy bits.

Trudeau Liberals declare support for ‘mandatory vaccination’ to ‘finish the fight’ against COVID

Canada’s Liberal Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, officially added support of mandatory COVID-19 vaccination to its platform after members voted in favor of it at the 2023 Liberal National Convention, which took place from May 4 to May 6 in Ottawa.

The mandate would force all travelers on interprovincial trains, commercial flights, cruise ships, and other federally regulated vessels be COVID-jabbed. It would also mandate COVID injections for federal employees.

Now FRANKENSTEIN is ‘racist’!

Students at the University of Florida are being invited to study horror in literature and film through a racial lens, with the professor asking how works such as Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein are about ‘racial identity and oppression’.

The course is provided as part of the African American Studies program.

Entitled ‘Black Horror, White Terror’, it is taught by Professor Julia Mollenthiel, whose dissertation was on the same theme. Mollenthiel is also writing a book on the subject.

Why did Canada take so long to expel China’s diplomat? It’s ̷o̷u̷r̷ ̷t̷r̷a̷d̷e̷ ̷r̷e̷l̷a̷t̷i̷o̷n̷s̷h̷i̷p̷ to protect the money Trudeau’s backers in Canada’s ‘China Class’ have invested in the communist slave state

One would have thought that Zhao Wei, a Chinese diplomat and suspected intelligence officer, would have been sent home by the evening the news broke that he was part of an effort by Beijing to target MP Michael Chong’s family – or better still, two years ago when CSIS first learned about this.

But the expulsion came a week after The Globe and Mail brought the matter to the public’s attention. Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly had said the government was considering what economic, consular and diplomatic retaliation might be visited upon Canada if it went through with the move.

She’s really saying Justin had to look out for the best interests of Canada’s China Class, they after all have money invested with the Communist Slave State.

‘Wonderland fight club’

Canada’s Wonderland officially welcomed back guests this weekend, but opening day excitement was dampened after multiple fights broke out between the park’s young guests, leading to arrests.
Of course, videos were taken and promptly shared on social media platforms including TikTok and Snapchat, with some on Twitter dubbing the behaviour “Wonderland fight club.”

Liberals’ convention pitch to fight online disinformation denounced as assault on free press

Without debate, Liberal Party members passed a policy resolution to combat online disinformation this weekend that critics warn could give the government control over Canadian media outlets.

The resolution calls for the Liberals to “explore options to hold online information services accountable for the veracity of material published on their platforms, and to limit publication only to material whose sources can be traced.”

“It’s deeply troubling this was sort of waved through at the Liberal convention,” said University of Ottawa law professor Michael Geist.

Alleged pedophile Peter Nygard accused billionaire Louis Bacon of being KKK member as part of $15M smear campaign

Disgraced fashion mogul Peter Nygard launched a $15 million smear campaign against his billionaire neighbor in the Bahamas – including portraying him as a member of the Ku Klux Klan – that led to a record $203 million awarded in damages against the accused pedophile, according to details from the bombshell ruling.

The Canadian-born playboy – who is cooling his heels in a Toronto jail as he awaits trial on multiple charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement – was ordered to pay the largest sum for a defamation case in New York State history last Thursday.

Peter Menzies: Instead of Mulling Fox News Ban, CRTC Should Have Banned China’s CCTV by Now for Airing Forced Confession

Canada has become a country that harbours a higher level of tolerance for Chinese communism than it does for American conservatism.

That’s a conclusion that’s easy to draw from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) May 3 decision to act swiftly on a complaint from the LGBTQ2 advocacy group, Egale, which has asked that Fox News be removed from a list of foreign broadcasters approved for carriage on cable.
