New poll reveals why Canadians won’t abolish the monarchy even though they don’t like it

We gave Charlie a horse.

Abolition of the monarchy seems always in Canada’s future, never its present.

This is one message of a new poll of Canadians and other Commonwealth citizens by Michael Ashcroft, a pollster and former deputy chairman of the U.K. Conservative Party.

Even a clearly phrased referendum held tomorrow is not certain to succeed, despite strong republican opinions across Canada, the poll suggests.

I find myself wishy one day and washy the next on the question of the Royal family. If woke lectures become the norm I would lean toward severance in short order however.

Will the EV transition cost more auto jobs than it creates?

As the North American auto industry’s transition toward electric vehicles shifts into higher gear, amid a subsidy war whose long-term consequences remain unknown, there are big questions about whether the move to EVs will eliminate more jobs than it creates.

There are also questions about whether legacy automakers that have relied on boosting sales of gasoline-powered SUVs and pick-ups to generate record profits in recent years can successfully navigate the biggest disruption they have faced yet.

EV’s like wind and solar are not a practical solution, ICE vehicles should remain dominant assuming the lunatics currently at the wheel in Ottawa are ousted.

The choice of either heating your home or driving your EV is likely to be on your future personal agenda.

Assuming you can afford a home or a car and that’s doubtful given the grandiose highschool theatrics of the con artists guiding our nation.

These Toronto folks aren’t lining up to purchase one of Justin’s “Magical EV’s”

Former Trudeau Foundation trough hog says engaging with Chinese officials was ‘naïve’

Morris Rosenberg, the former president and CEO of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, says in retrospect the embattled charity was naïve to think it would have “soft power” over China when it accepted money in 2016 with ties to the Chinese government.

The former veteran public servant told a parliamentary committee Tuesday night that at the time, there was a belief that engaging with Chinese officials would familiarize them with Canadian governance, rule of law and human rights.

“Was that naïve at the time? In hindsight, probably it was naive,” said Rosenberg.

“We felt we could do more good.”

What gall.

The alarm on China’s interference is ringing louder

The evidence of China’s interference in Canada’s democracy was already alarming. Now, it’s doubly so, with fresh revelations that Beijing not only meddled with successive federal elections but also attempted to intimidate a sitting MP.

The Globe and Mail previously reported, based on Canadian Security Intelligence Service documents, that Beijing operatives tried to swing some riding outcomes in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections, although no one is saying those efforts changed who formed government.

Amnesty International criticised for using AI-generated images

While the systemic brutality used by Colombian police to quell national protests in 2021 was real and is well documented, photos recently used by Amnesty International to highlight the issue were not.

The international human rights advocacy group has come under fire for posting images generated by artificial intelligence in order to promote their reports on social media – and has since removed them.

The images, including one of a woman being dragged away by police officers, depict the scenes during protests that swept across Colombia in 2021.

Jamie Sarkonak: Trudeau Foundation has deep history of donors with ties to lobbyists

What exactly was going on at the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation when a 2016 donation was made supposedly on behalf of the Chinese government in an alleged attempt to influence the prime minister? A clear answer would be welcome, but the foundation has a long association with donors, and members, who were also trying to gain influence with the Liberal party and the government.

Trans Media Matters Employee Says Posting Images From ‘Gender Queer’ on Twitter Timeline is ‘Sexual Harassment’

In a stunning display of cognitive dissonance, a transgender Media Matters employee who is a vocal opponent of LGBTQ laws aimed at protecting children, strongly objected to being shown an illustration from a controversial school library book on Twitter, calling it “sexual harassment.”

Ari Drennen, the LGBTQ Program Director for Media Matters for America, attempted to defend Chelsea Clinton on Monday after she wrote that banning LGBTQ books from school libraries is “nothing but harmful.”

Why the Bud Light disaster could cripple the entire company’s many brands for years

Bud Light – The Beer Of Sexual Mutilation Fetishists

The damage done by the casual embrace of a transsexual by Bud Light came at an extremely bad time for not just the brand, but for all the brands sold in the US by the parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI). The reason is rooted in a critical aspect of commerce that mostly escapes public notice: physical distribution.
