The bizarre transition in the West

There is a bizarre transition in America from suporting liberty, non-violence and justice to submission to evil ideologies.

Over the last twenty years in four books and dozens of essays, I have sought to understand the bizarre transition in the West from supporting the goodness of liberty, non-violence, justice and other Judeo-Christian values to what I now realize is an almost complete submission to evil values and ideologies, including those of the so-called Palestinians.

Is This the End of Corporate Media?

Fox News’ dumping of Tucker Carlson probably ends an era in cable news.

As a business proposition, Monday morning’s earth-shattering announcement that Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News comes off as the dumbest thing since, well…

Maybe tying Bud Light’s brand to a transgender attention grabber? I dunno.

With CNN’s alleged rebranding to be practicioners of “journalism” maybe both they and Fox are signaling they hope to capture the political middle. If that middle even exists any longer.

Germany arrests 28-year-old Syrian over ‘radical Islamist’ bomb plot

German authorities arrested a 28-year-old Syrian national on Tuesday morning, one of two brothers suspected of planning to blow up civilian targets using a homemade explosives belt for “radical Islamist and jihadist” reasons, a statement said.

Public prosecutors in the northern port city of Hamburg carried out searches as part of a joint probe with police, arresting the man whom they believed bought raw materials for bomb-making off the internet over several weeks.

Confidence in Leadership

Military journals report that the United States is preparing to make the Pacific island of Guam a veritable “fortress.”

One suspects no one has used that phrase since the days just before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor when the United States finally woke up to the fact that the Land of the Rising Sun had every intention of owning the Pacific. History would go on to record that our decision to fortify Guam would come too late as our isolated defenders would eventually be forced to surrender to overwhelming enemy forces. Few would survive their imprisonment.

Five kids killed in Westchester crash were likely panhandling: video

The five children who were killed in a horrific car crash in Westchester County last month were likely coming back from panhandling at a New Jersey shopping center, according to surveillance video.

Sisters Zahnyiah, 12, and Shawnell Cross, 11, their half-brothers AJ Billips Jr., 17, and Andrew Billips, 8, and cousin Malik Smith Jr., 16, all died March 12 on their way home to Connecticut when Smith, who was driving them, ran off the road on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale.

Is this a CBC staffer’s kid?

A family paid over $400 for Nike shoes that lasted 10 weeks

Spencer Potter, 15, has his eye on the ball when it comes to becoming a professional soccer player.

He’s been playing the game since he was three, practises several times a week with an elite team in Mississauga, Ont., and dreams of joining a pro team.

So when Nike released a limited edition of soccer cleats last fall — the Zoom Mercurial Superfly 9 Elite CR7 Firm Ground Cleats — Spencer wanted in.

Sorry kid, you got ripped off, 3rd world sweatshop multinationals do that every minute of every day.

But was this news? For whom?

As Dictated By Katie Telford & Xi Jinping: Even small leaks can reveal big problems

The message: there is trouble at CSIS, and if the government doesn’t wake up, it could leave Canada vulnerable to threats from hostile foreign interests – or, conceivably, from domestic terrorism

… The message sender(s) – one or more disgruntled, or genuinely alarmed, CSIS officers – were not whistleblowers in the customary sense. Their mission was not to expose malfeasance, corruption, or some ghastly mistake that the agency had made.

Their message was political, its delivery staged to embarrass the government without revealing any truly damaging information. It conveyed a sense of festering antipathy in the relationship between CSIS and the Trudeau Liberal government.

Haitian ‘gang members’ beg for mercy before vigilante lynch mob stones then burns them alive

This is the horrifying moment suspected Haitian gang members beg for mercy before a vigilante lynch mob stones and burns them alive.

The mob beat and burned 13 men to death with gasoline-soaked tyres on Monday after pulling them from police custody at a traffic stop, police and witnesses in the capital Port-au-Prince said.

Six more burned bodies were seen in a nearby neighbourhood later on in the day, and witnesses claimed to have seen police kill them before residents set them on fire. News agencies said this could not be verified.

CBC must stop glorifying Palestinian terrorists

The Palestinian city of Nablus is located about 49 km. north of Jerusalem. With a population of some 157,000 Palestinians, Nablus is an ancient city in the heart of the West Bank.

However, Nablus’s rich history is not why this city has recently gained notoriety in the news. Over the past year, this town has been a point of friction between Israelis and Palestinians since the Lion’s Den terror group began using it as its base of operations.

Would forcing drug users into treatment help ease the toxic drug crisis?

As the poison drug crisis grows more lethal and visible, hence becoming more politically and socially untenable, politicians and policy-makers are grasping for new solutions.

Both B.C. and Alberta, for example, are promising to expand involuntary treatment – essentially forcing some drug users into treatment, whether they want it or not.

This get-tough approach has obvious appeal.

My cat and his food …

Fridge is bare!

So it looks like the two varieties of wet cat food that Xavier eats consistently may have become permanently unavailable.

As explained by the PetValue guy the contract manufacturer just won’t schedule their orders in a timely manner as they are too small relative to the large runs they prefer.

That’s unfortunate as they were reasonably priced relative to a lot of what’s available.

I am down to two tins of the “salmon” he likes and about 18 tins of the “chicken pate” he loves and I had to drive around to 5 different stores to secure those supplies.

He eats a little dry every day but much prefers his wet.

We experienced a similar supply shortage last year and it was maddening trying to find another variety he would eat.

Typically with “new food” he will for all appearances enjoy the first serving then turn up his nose at the rest.

The one brand he does like other than his fave is now priced wildly out of range at nearly 5 bucks per 5 ounce tin. It’s so out of hand that PetValue will likely drop the line.

So… has anyone had experience making DIY cat wet cat food? I tried a simple chicken and potato recipe that I pureed in the blender and he did eat it but I have not yet sourced the Cat specific minerals that are evidently needed for his health.

I cooked him a haddock filet as trial, it was devoured, but in my research I see that no ‘reliable source” recommends real fish as a steady diet, only as a once a week treat. Some fish like tuna may pose a mercury hazard to cats. Haddock is apparently not one of them but still not recommended as a staple.

I wonder if the Pet Food companies, and it is a Billion Dollar industry, deliberately spread disinfo about DIY pet food and other alternatives to their offerings.

Let me know what you think and tip me to any recipes you may have found.

Greed of federal workers knows no bounds

In February 2019 when the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) was in a dispute with the Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), Chris Aylward, PSAC’s National President said: “This is corporate greed, plain and simple.”

It is a favourite talking point apparently, as it is one he is using today as federal workers are on strike. He blames corporate greed for rising costs and the tragic situation he and his members feel they find themselves in.
