The real threat to the 2024 election isn’t AI

Conspiracies are more likely to come from journalists than technology

If you thought the social media elections era was bad, AI is about to cram a new layer of derangement into an already busting system. “AI will be a significant influence in elections,” Elon Musk told Tucker Carlson, on a recent Fox News interview. “People will use the AI as a tool and then if the AI is smart enough — are they using the tool or are they using them? Things are getting weird and they’re getting weird fast.”

Ralph Yarl and the poison of identity politics

This awful shooting is being used to peddle divisive racial myths.

It’s a miracle he’s still alive. Sixteen-year-old Ralph Yarl, a schoolboy from Kansas City, Missouri, was shot in the head and arm last Thursday night. He had gone to the wrong address, pulling up outside a house on Northeast 115th Street, instead of Northeast 115th Terrace, which is just a block away. Yarl knocked on the door, expecting his two younger siblings to come running out (he’d been asked by his mother to collect them early from a sleepover). Instead, he was shot at twice by 84-year-old Andrew Lester from the other side of the threshold. Lester claims he feared for his life – and that Yarl was pulling at the door handle (a claim Yarl denies). Incredibly, mercifully, Yarl is not only still with us, but is also expected to make a close-to-full recovery. Lester, meanwhile, has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. If convicted, he will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

Crime-ridden Chicago searches for new top cop after police chief retires after ONE month on job, as residents flee the city which has run wild with liberal policies

Brandon Johnson – Looting Enthusiast

Chicago’s interim police chief is to retire after only month in the job – stepping down after a series of headline-grabbing crimes, on the same day as the ultra-progressive new mayor takes office but insisting that his decision was made months ago.

Eric Carter, the interim superintendent, will retire on May 15 after 30 years on the force.

He took over when David Brown resigned after the February 28 mayoral election. Brown turns 63 in September, which is the mandatory CPD retirement age.

Traumatised British spy sent to jihadist camp killed his own child

A British spy sent by MI6 to a jihadist camp despite warnings about his extreme vulnerability went on to kill his own child.

The man, then in his twenties, was vetted for his suitability for overseas work by the Secret Intelligence Service. It produced a report that said his emotional instability was the “highest it is possible to score”.

The leaked document said he had more in common with a psychotic person than an average member of the population on some traits and was at risk of severe shock and trauma.

Unfairness in the name of equity

Last year, in its wisdom, the Toronto District School Board decided that students applying for entrance to its specialized secondary schools for math, science, the arts and other subjects would no longer have to pass tests, do auditions or submit portfolios.

Backers of the idea said that these entrance hurdles favoured privileged students whose parents could afford lessons and tutors, giving them a leg up over other contenders. So the specialty schools tended to have fewer students from some racial groups than the public school system at large. Under the new system, says the TDSB, “priority is given to those from underserved communities” and “then a lottery is used for remaining spots.” Essentially, successful candidates are chosen by drawing names from a hat.

I am so grateful I went to TDSB schools before the racist rot set in. I pity the parents who can’t afford to home educate or send their children to private schools.

Conrad Black: Liberal partisan David Johnston the wrong man for a pointless job

The Chinese contribution to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation does not seem to me very worrisome in itself. A contribution of $200,000 from a wealthy Chinese businessman apparently closely affiliated with the governing Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China, is not an especially consequential event for a foundation that was launched the year after Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s death and was endowed with $125 million from the government of Canada.

TERRAZZANO: Privileged federal bureaucrats don’t deserve a penny more

Canadians shouldn’t feel sorry for privileged federal bureaucrats.

They don’t worry about losing their jobs or missing a paycheque. They get pay raises and bonuses, even if they don’t meet their own performance targets. Now they want billions more from taxpayers who are struggling to pay for groceries and make their mortgage payments.

To be fair not all civil servants are predators: Only a third of 120,000 striking PSAC members cast vote on work stoppage

… The complaint, which was filed with the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board, was filed by a public servant seeking to invalidate the strike.

His complaint was dismissed but the board did find voting irregularities of “significant concern.”

‘Sleazy’ Is the Word for the Burgeoning Biden Scandals

As most people know by now, an IRS supervisor has told lawmakers he has information that the Biden administration is improperly handling the criminal investigation into the president’s son Hunter.

This IRS supervisor is seeking whistleblower protection, probably from Chairman Jason Smith’s Ways and Means Committee because it’s a tax matter, or so we think. The whistleblower also claims to have information that would contradict sworn testimony by “a senior political appointee,” who allegedly provided “preferential treatment” for Hunter Biden.

A lament for the Los Angeles we lost — and why I’m off

As much trash as I’ve talked about this city, this state, it’s the closest thing to home I’ve had

Like so many wannabe actors before me, I came to this gritty city with big dreams of “making it” in Tinseltown. I thought I wanted to be an actress until I got here and realized that driving around begging casting directors for approval wasn’t for me. Nonetheless, I stayed in Los Angeles — and over the last sixteen years, this big, messy, giant suburban sprawl has become a part of me.

My husband and I have agonized over the decision of whether to stay or go. Making a cost-benefit analysis — like whether to stay near family in perfect weather or go where we can provide a better quality of life for our daughter in a place with unbearable heat — has felt like trying to solve an impossible math equation. You can’t put a price on either of those things — but as Thomas Sowell said, “There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.”

Western Weapons Supplies Fall Short of Ukraine’s Needs, Documents Show

Western allies this week delivered some of the most powerful weapons that Ukraine says it will need for a looming counteroffensive against Russia: a Patriot air-defense system from Germany and the Netherlands. Fighter jets from Slovakia. More 155-millimeter artillery from the United States.

And on Friday, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III announced that Ukrainians would soon begin training, for the first time, on American M1 Abrams tanks — an important step to getting the sophisticated weapon to the battlefield.

Biden Administration Still Negotiating a Secret ‘Deal’ with Iran: As Many Nuclear Weapons as They Like?

Nothing seems to stop the Biden administration from wanting to reward the ruling mullahs of Iran with a nuclear deal that will pave the way for the Islamist regime of Iran legally to obtain as many nuclear weapons as it likes, empower the ruling mullahs with billions of dollars, lift sanctions against their theocratic regime, allow them to rejoin the global financial system and enhance their legitimacy on the global stage.

These benefits presumably include further enabling the regime’s ruthless expansion throughout the Middle East — Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and the terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip — and into Latin America.

Racist Hostin: The Problem With Gun Owners Is ‘White’ Skin, Fox News

Despite her whining to the contrary, View co-host Sunny Hostin is a staunch racist and shows it often from her ABC platform. On Friday’s edition of the show, she spewed her toxic racism again when she suggested the problem with gun owners in America was that they had white skin and were “radicalized” by Fox News, thus a danger to the country.
