Douglas Todd: Federal Liberals are directly inflating house prices

Canadian polls show young adults are drifting away from the federal Liberal party. It seems they’re slowly figuring out that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, despite his sympathetic rhetoric, is working against their dream of buying a first home.

While it’s taken a while for young and old to realize it, top bankers, retired civil servants, housing analysts, former property developers and housing activists are now declaring the Liberals are directly causing house-price inflation.

The retired head of B.C.’s civil service, Don Wright, recently wrote a piece titled, “Will Trudeau make it impossible for Eby to succeed?”

It explained how B.C.’s effort to reduce housing prices and build affordable dwellings “will be largely hostage to the federal government’s immigration policy.”

Wright, an economist, said Trudeau’s government routinely raises the “almost entirely fallacious” argument that Canada has a labour shortage to justify welcoming a record 438,000 new permanent residents in 2022, while adding another 680,000 non-permanent residents, including foreign students and other guest workers.

Intelligence agency says cyber threat actor ‘had the potential’ to damage critical infrastructure

One of Canada’s intelligence agencies says a cyber threat actor “had the potential to cause physical damage” to a piece of critical infrastructure recently.

“I can report there was no physical damage to any Canadian energy infrastructure. But make no mistake — the threat is real,” said Sami Khoury, head of the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security out of the Communications Security Establishment.

They won’t say but they’re talking bout BCF.

I Helped Make Corporations Woke, and I Regret It

I sat in the Washington office of a major airline’s head of government relations, where we were joined by the top lobbyist for one of America’s largest hotel chains. It was 2013, and I was president of the gay conservative group Log Cabin Republicans. I had come to secure corporate support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would have banned discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Pressure from leading corporations, I correctly assumed, would push waffling Republicans to vote for the legislation.

Where’s the DEI at Historically Black Colleges and Universities?

The lack of diversity policies at Historically Black Colleges and Universities makes clear that the concept means something other than its public definition.

It’s a curious feature of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that they rarely have any diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) administrators or policies on their campuses, beyond what federal law requires.

Howard University, for instance, the alma mater of Vice President Kamala Harris, has no central administrator dedicated to DEI, and its student affairs programming aims to help the disabled and LGBTQ students. Neither Jackson State nor Grambling State, two famous HBCUs, have DEI plans or central administrators. North Carolina’s four public HBCUs also have very little DEI presence on campus. Much the same is true of Texas’s HBCUs, none of which has DEI deans at the college level and almost none of which has DEI in its college strategic plans. Tennessee State has less DEI than any four-year university in the Volunteer State. One could go on.

Starbucks Does It Again With Oleato

The media is lampooning Starbucks for its biological miscalculation.

What can you say about a 52-year-old multinational behemoth that caused intestinal distress in its clientele? That it didn’t test the product first?

In Italy in February, Starbucks introduced a new suite of products named Oleato. Speaking with near-cosmic euphoria, interim CEO Howard Schultz gushed over “ the next revolution in coffee that brings together an alchemy of nature’s finest ingredients – Starbucks arabica coffee beans and Partanna cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.”

Biden DOJ recommends no jail time for cross-dressing vandal of Catholic church: ‘F— Catholics’

President Biden’s Justice Department offered what critics are calling a sweetheart plea deal to a vandal who admitted to defacing a Catholic church with profane graffiti, destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary, assaulting a church worker, and resisting arrest.

A plea agreement reviewed by Fox News Digital shows that the DOJ recommends zero jail time for the perp, Maeve Nota, a 31-year-old transgender individual who vandalized the St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, following Roe v. Wade’s overturning last June.

What Is Really Happening at Jerusalem’s Holy Sites?

Since the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan on March 22, Israeli authorities have taken a series of measures to enable free access for Muslim worshippers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, also known as the Temple Mount or Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary), in Jerusalem.

The measures include providing free-of-charge shuttle services for the worshippers, as well as sealing off several main streets in Jerusalem to traffic so that the Muslims will be able to enter and exit the city without delay.

CBS Pushes Dubious ‘Gun Violence’ Study, Includes Accidents/Suicides

The liberal media are all for live fact-checks and dishing out Pinocchios when they’re targeting conservatives, but their obsessive desire to nitpick and say “It’s accurate, but…” goes right out the window when it’s for their agenda. This was the case on Wednesday’s CBS Mornings when they pushed a dubious “gun violence” study from the Kaiser Family Foundation that wrapped firearm accidents, suicides, and defensive uses together with mass shootings and crime for an anti-gun rights message.

Pity the Poor Budweiser Clydesdales

A Missouri Budweiser distributor is canceling events featuring the beer giant’s famous Clydesdale horses. This is in response to the boycott Bud Light faces in response to its man-girl media influencer and spokesman Dylan Mulvaney. They are also pulling back from events in the South, according to the Beer Business Daily newsletter. “We reached out to a handful of A-B [Anheuser-Busch] distributors who were spooked, most particularly in the Heartland and the South, and even then in their more rural areas,” it wrote.

Netflix Debuts Cleopatra Docuseries Trailer Depicting the Queen as Black

I’m rooting for the Asp.

A documentary on the life and tumultuous times of Queen Cleopatra is on the horizon for Netflix with the planned docuseries veering from accepted historical wisdom by changing the subject’s ethnicity. The documentary appears to propose the case Cleopatra was a black woman with several of the commentators featured in the film arguing Cleopatra could potentially be of African descent instead of Greek.

Poilievre’s pitch to defund CBC while keeping French services would need a law change

OTTAWA – If Pierre Poilievre wants to “defund the CBC” while maintaining its French-language programming, he’ll have to overhaul the country’s broadcasting law in order to do it.

That’s according to the corporation, which has found itself in a back-and-forth with the Opposition leader over his pledge to axe the roughly $1-billion in taxpayer dollars it receives annually.

McGill student newspaper drops ‘McGill’ from name due to ‘violent, colonial and racist origins’

Saying that McGill University has exhibited “continued indifference toward its violent, colonial and racist origins,” the Tribune has dropped the name of McGill from its masthead.

The publication’s decision is based on the fact that James McGill (1744-1813) was a slave owner and profited in part from the international slave trade.

I think the students should do the honorable thing and quit McGill university.
