Mark Zuckerberg is turning into Howard Hughes, isolated and out of touch with reality

Meta, the company once known as Facebook, has already started slimming down its virtual operations. Disney is cutting its division. Microsoft is shutting its unit.

The metaverse, the imaginary universe we were all meant to migrate to just a couple of years ago, is turning into a great corporate collapse, at least in the immediate term, with billions of dollars of investment at risk, and reputations taking a hammering.

Over the last three years, the internet giants have built a vast new world, only to discover that many people don’t want to go there.

Biden hands the Middle East to China

While the United States has been hypnotized by our domestic battle of Biden versus Trump, China has made a major move in the Middle East.

It has negotiated an alliance of convenience between those thousand-year enemies, the Saudis and Iranians, whose theological feud goes back to the generation after Mohammed.

China has thereby effectively countered the Abraham Accords negotiated by the US, the Arab states (with Saudis in the background) and Israel.

A Year Later, DHS STILL Won’t Come Clean About Its Disinformation Board

What are they hiding?

The Biden regime’s abortive Disinformation Governance Board was a sinister initiative from the beginning. The board’s chief public proponents, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the board’s head, Nina Jankowicz, set off alarm bells when they were never entirely forthright or clear about what the board intended to do. Even now, long after the whole thing went sideways on them when they discovered, to their dismay, that many Americans still valued the freedom of speech, they’re trying to cover their tracks

Have we reached peak green?

Ignore Joe Biden’s climate posturing – fossil fuels are here to stay.

Politicians will often boast of their commitment to tackling climate change. Yet their posturing is invariably contradicted by their actions.

US president Joe Biden is perhaps the prime example of this contradictory policymaking. For years, he has been virtue-signalling to the environmental extremists, promising to put an end to the fossil-fuel industry. Yet, while in office, Biden has quietly been undercutting these pledges.

Former President Donald Trump has been indicted on a slew of criminal charges, including 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, according to the unsealed court records released on Tuesday afternoon.

Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan announced the felony charges during Trump’s initial court appearance on Tuesday afternoon, marking the first time a former president has been criminally charged in U.S. history. Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts.

Keep child abusers off the rainbow flag

‘Minor Attraction’ is not a queer sexual identity

“Julie Bindel takes to right wing GB News to smear the trans community with the same trope that was used against gay men in the 1980s — that they are all paedophiles. Has she forgotten that made gays a target for physical violence? Does she care if trans people are now targeted too?”

Billy Bragg didn’t much care for my appearance on Andrew Doyle’s Free Speech Nation.

Assault and Battery: Beware Those EVs

There can be little doubt in any serious person’s mind that Green technology is an unmitigated disaster. It is no longer an issue of Big Oil, which the Leftwaffe is strafing and bombing daily, but of the multi-billion-dollar industry of Big Green, or the Climate-Industrial Complex. The game has changed. As The Epoch Times reports, “a powerful lobby of politicians, scientists, and media pushes climate-related falsehoods into the popular perspective,” to the advantage of Big Business and the attendant cohort of technopreneurs.

Russia’s long history of female assassins

The news that a young woman anti-war activist, Darya Trepova, is suspect number one in the bombing assassination of Russian pro-war blogger Vladlen Tatarsky may shock those schooled to believe that political violence is an all-male preserve. But it will come as no surprise to anyone with the sketchiest knowledge of Russian history. For in Russian politics, as Rudyard Kipling wrote, ‘the female of the species is more deadly than the male’.

Why Chinese interference is an everyday problem for many Canadians: ‘They brainwash people’

Dan Hao was once a wealthy entrepreneur in China. Now, he’s in self-imposed exile in Vancouver working as a contractor — with an international warrant out for his arrest.

Hao fled to Vancouver in 2019 after, he says, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) forcibly took over the securities brokerage firm he was running. In the years since, Hao has become a vocal protester of the CCP and is now the leader of the Vancouver branch of the Democratic Party of China — activities, he says, that have made him and his group the target of harassment campaigns.

WaPo ‘Fact-Checker’ Humiliated After Smearing Criticism Of Soros-Backed DA As ‘Antisemitism’

The fact-checker got fact-checked, and it didn’t end well for him.

The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler frequently manages to make himself the story, often due to his not-so-subtle left-wing partisan bent. It was on full display over his handling of accurate portrayals of billionaire George Soros backing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. And it was so egregious he was hit with two community notes on Twitter for his misleading spin.

Canada’s grave errors

Why does a country once regarded as a model of moderation and sanity now view itself as a seething den of blood-soaked bigotry and white supremacy?

Canadians used to have a reputation for being sane and moderate,” Oxford University professor Nigel Biggar said to me on a recent Quillette podcast. “If you have time, I’d like to know why you think Canada has gone the way it has.”

By “the way it has,” Prof. Biggar was alluding to my country’s strange, somewhat manic-seeming lurch into progressive radicalism since the election of Justin Trudeau, whose government now litters its policy agenda with paeans to intersectionality and anti-racism. This has been done with the express approval not just of Canada’s academic and activist establishment, but of the many Canadian journalists who now devote much of their time to hectoring readers and viewers about privilege, systemic racism and “decolonization”.

The Anniversary of Mireille Knoll’s Murder and France’s Jewish Exodus

March 23 marked the anniversary of the murder of Mireille Knoll, an elderly Jewish woman and a Holocaust survivor who was living in Paris. Her murder was one of many brutal, antisemitic attacks in France over the past several years.

On March 23, 2018, two men, Yacine Mihoub and Alex Carrimbacus—both Knoll’s neighbors—entered her apartment, stabbed her eleven times, and lit her body on fire. Allegedly it was a botched robbery that turned into a murder. But, during the investigation and trial, it became evident that antisemitism was a factor in Knoll’s murder.

OPEC is helping Russia

In spite of the US’s drive towards energy independence in recent years, the world remains depressingly reliant on OPEC for oil

Just when we thought inflationary forces were softening, the price of crude oil has shot up sharply on Monday in response to an announcement by OPEC that it will try to reduce production. A barrel of Brent crude, which touched $120 last summer before falling back to $75 last month, reached $85 at one point yesterday. Some analysts expect it to hit $100.
