If Americans don’t believe in God, country or hard work, what do they believe in?

A new poll finds that love of money has taken the place of values we once revered

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? It’s all pretty bad, but let’s get it over with: the share of Americans who say patriotism and religion are “very important” to them has fallen sharply, as has the number of Americans who value involvement in their community, hard work and having children.

Sorority sisters are suing the Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) sisterhood for admitting a male University of Wyoming student, according to a complaint.

KKG admitted biological male Artemis Langford, its first transgender-identifying member, into its ranks in Oct. 2022. Guidelines set by the National Panhellenic Council define a sorority as a “single-gender organization comprised of women and individuals who identify as women” while leaving admission decisions up to individual chapters.

Italy says no to lab-grown meat

Italian plan to ban lab-grown food criticised as misguided

The Italian government has approved a draft law that would ban food grown in laboratories, including artificial meat, as it seeks to “safeguard our nation’s heritage”.

Under the ban, which needs to be passed in both houses of parliament, those who produce, export or import food grown from animal cells would face fines of up to €60,000 and risk having their manufacturing plants closed.

Coldiretti, Italy’s biggest farmers’ association, has lobbied for the ban, arguing that homegrown produce needs to be shielded from “the attacks of multinational companies”.

Russian spies more effective than army, say experts

Russia’s security and intelligence services have achieved greater success in Ukraine than its army, says a leading UK defence think tank.

Russian spy agencies began preparing for the invasion of Ukraine as far back as June 2021, says a report by the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi).

The Federal Security Service (FSB) has quickly dominated populations in occupied areas of Ukraine, Rusi adds.

The report was compiled using sources including captured documents, it says.

Is education for kids or teachers’ unions?

It’s quite remarkable: What is in the best interests of students in Ontario coincides exactly with what will make the teachers’ unions richer, more powerful and less accountable. I learned of this remarkable coincidence last week while commuting in the Toronto subway, where the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), a union of over 45,000 teachers, is currently running an ad campaign. By happy synchronicity, everything the union says will improve students’ learning and well-being benefits the union, too.

Someone is going to have to bust the public service unions one day.

King Charles to lay wreath to German victims of wartime air raids

King Charles will this week become the first British monarch to lay a wreath to the German victims of allied air raids in the second world war.

The move is a departure from his mother’s handling of the historically sensitive subject on previous royal visits to the country.

At the end of his first state visit as monarch, Charles III is scheduled on Friday to visit Hamburg’s St Nikolai memorial, a 12th-century church severely damaged during Operation Gomorrah in July 1943 and since preserved in its ruined state to commemorate its victims.

Trump ‘hush money’ grand jury taking a month-long break: source

The Manhattan grand jury that’s hearing evidence against former President Trump in the Stormy Daniels “hush money” case plans to recess for a month, The Post has learned.

The break, which will cover the city school system’s weeklong Spring Recess next month, was pre-planned, according to a source familiar with the matter.

It will also push back any potential indictment of Trump, 76, in connection with the $130,000 that his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election to keep her quiet about an alleged affair with Trump in 2006.
