A complaint about the conduct of Supreme Court Justice Russell Brown, who has been on leave with pay since Feb. 1, relates to an altercation at a hotel in Arizona.
Justice Brown, in a statement through his lawyers on Friday, said he was assaulted in the Jan. 28 incident.

Ever since the shock of the 2016 election, there has been an explosion of handwringing in Washington about the danger of information silos. This moral panic took on a newly aggressive character in the age of fake news and Covid — and has expanded to target Fox News, social media and even newsletter businesses like Substack as culprits in a world segregated by news sources.
Yes, these people are most certainly beyond parody. An actual headline in Thursday’s Los Angeles Times informs us that “White drivers are polluting the air breathed by L.A.’s people of color.” So now Whitey, whose perfidy simply knows no bounds, is breathing free and easy and leaving the poor people of color gasping for breath. Oh, when will the racism end?
For years, Aurora residents have heard the allegations of violence and criminality by some members of the Colorado city’s police force: officers punching, choking, and threatening to shoot unarmed civilians; holding innocent people at gunpoint; stalking and sexually assaulting people.
In 2018, a man died after Aurora officers punched and pummeled him with batons and shocked him more than a dozen times with stun guns. A year later, an on-duty officer with a blood-alcohol level more than five times the legal limit passed out while driving. He wasn’t fired, arrested, or charged with a crime, and was later promoted.
While the forces of “woke” march resolutely across the world of sports, darkening our spirits as they thrust leftist mantras into our daily ration of athletic contests, some glimmers of hope, some slivers of free-speech sunshine, manage to break through the miasmic overcast once in a while.
And it’s no surprise that they’re coming from professional hockey. While the NFL, the NBA, and MLB have all made it their business to shove left-wing causes in our faces in the past few years, the NHL has retained its reputation as the least woke of the major American sports leagues.

US tax dollars paid for “gain-of-function” research that caused the “greatest pandemic our world has seen”, the former head of America’s national public health agency told Congress.
Dr Robert Redfield was director of the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention at the start of the pandemic and a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
He told a Congressional committee that “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology had been funded in part by the US government and that the virus “looked engineered”.
Dr Redfield also said his initial analysis that the pandemic resulted from a laboratory leak had been “squashed” early on.
The virologist said he was excluded from a phone call on the origins of the pandemic in February 2020 by Dr Anthony Fauci and others, because they “wanted a single narrative” and he had a “different view”.
During the first presidential debate in 2020, Joe Biden claimed that the left-wing violent movement known as Antifa was merely “an idea, not an organization.” He was trying to paraphrase a statement by FBI Director Chris Wray who had described Antifa as an ideology or a movement, not an organization, but who also referred to Antifa as a “real thing.”
In other words, FBI Director Wray was taking Antifa seriously as a real movement that was of major concern to law enforcement, while Joe Biden was pooh-poohing Antifa as just “an idea.”

Say ‘far-right extremism’ and most people will think of fascism. Perhaps Hitler, Nazis and swastikas. Or closer to home, it’s Enoch Powell and his infamous ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech. Or the National Front of the 1970s. Far less likely to spring to mind are feminists defending women’s rights. Or concerned parents who object to the sexualisation of children and to libraries hosting drag queens.
The fight between Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre was never going to be pretty, but this week both politicians fired off some words that could define not just their own fates, but the state of future Canadian political debate.

The motion introduced at the House of Commons’ ethics committee on Friday to call the prime minister’s chief of staff to testify on its investigation into foreign interference means there are now two parliamentary committees seeking an audience with Katie Telford, and, presumably, two committees that are about to be gridlocked by Liberal filibusters.
Wednesday was a gruesome day for the Prime Minister. It began with a report by Global News citing two high-level memos to the Prime Minister’s Office warning, in highly specific terms, not just about foreign interference in our elections generally, but about infiltration and funding of Liberal campaigns by the government of China.
The first, a “Special Report” prepared by the Intelligence Assessment Secretariat within the Privy Council Office – which reports directly to the Prime Minister – warned that Chinese officials had passed money via intermediaries to a clandestine network of 11 candidates in the 2019 election.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has removed Progressive Conservative MPP Vincent Ke from his position as parliamentary assistant, following a Global News report of allegations by intelligence sources that Ke was involved in an election interference network directed by China’s consulate in Toronto.
