Inflation is causing some to think twice about having kids: ‘It doesn’t make sense’

After giving birth to her first child in August of last year, 24-year-old Autumn Oliver-Giasson has decided to hold off on having more children until the high cost of living in Canada eases.

“It’s just not plausible. It doesn’t make sense,” she told Global News from McQuade, N.B.

My Mom was for the most part a stay at home housewife, though she did do “sewing” for a small clientele. Later she did work both full and part time as a seamstress doing alterations for clothing stores and dry cleaners for about 4 or 5 years.

Stay at home Mom’s were common during my childhood, my parents managed to raise 7 kids on a working class salary.

No we were not well off but no one starved despite occasional hard times.

Ukraine war costs Germany’s economy €100 billion

The head of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) has said he expects Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to continue to hamper growth and inflate costs in the German economy.

German government interventions and a mild European winter have cushioned the blow of the war and its consequences, but Europe’s largest economy is likely heading for a recession.

DIW President Marcel Fratzscher said the war and its effect on driving up energy prices have already cost the German economy about €100 billion ($107 billion), or about 2.5% of gross domestic product (GDP).

Near Roxham Road, RCMP border patrol relies on locals’ help – and tests their patience

While politicians in Ottawa and Quebec City bicker and negotiate over what to do about Roxham Road, locals must put up with frequent RCMP stops while at the same time trying to keep an eye open to help Mounties enforce border rules.

Matthias Kaiser, a farmer who owns land in the area near what is now internationally known as the official unofficial point of entry for asylum seekers in Canada, is used to interacting with law-enforcement agents from both sides of the border.

Hey you racists let’s talk Mass Immigration, Housing, & Healthcare

A discussion on limiting mass immigration will still get you called a racist.

None of the mainstream political parties will speak out against it because they all dance to the same master’s tune.

Canada’s immigration policy is driven by the greed of the corporate class to your detriment.

McKinsey is stealing your country.

The LPC-NDP-CPC Uniparty will not be getting my vote.

US faces new threat from Canadian ‘super pig’

‘Incredibly intelligent, highly elusive’

For decades, wild pigs have been antagonizing flora and fauna in the US: gobbling up crops, spreading disease and even killing deer and elk.

Now, as fears over the potential of the pig impact in the US grow, North America is also facing a new swine-related threat, as a Canadian “super pig”, a giant, “incredibly intelligent, highly elusive” beast capable of surviving cold climates by tunneling under snow, is poised to infiltrate the north of the country.

The Newswashing of ISIS Bride Shamima Begum

While around 3,000 Yazidi children and women are still being held captive at the hands of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization, many in the Western media are portraying a former “ISIS bride” not only as a victim but as a celebrity.

The ISIS bride in question Shamima Begum, a British citizen who left the UK to join ISIS in Syria in 2015, and was later stripped of her British citizenship. Begum was chosen by The Times Magazine in the UK to lionize on February 4, both on its cover and in an eight-page feature. She is now part of a glamorized “newswashing” campaign to help get her British citizenship back.

The UK’s Special Immigration Appeals Tribunal is scheduled to rule this week on Begum’s appeal against being stripped of her citizenship.

Adam Pankratz: Trudeau’s finger-in-the-eye politics is what sparked the Freedom Convoy

This is the Liberal Party.

Justice Paul Rouleau has reluctantly ruled that the invocation of the Emergencies Act was justified. While this will inevitably have some Canadians spitting mad, there is little reason to doubt him. Rouleau is an accomplished lawyer and justice and, if we believe ourselves to be a country ruled by law, it is incumbent upon even those furious with the decision to accept it and move on.
