Most Canadians don’t know about Liberals’ plan for ‘just transition’ away from oil: poll

EDMONTON — A new poll has found the overwhelming majority of Canadians have never heard of the Liberal government’s “just transition” plan, and more than half of respondents doubt that Ottawa can achieve its stated goal of replacing jobs lost in the oil and gas sector due to a transition to a low-carbon economy.

Plaque commemorating Ottawa’s Karen Kulture during ‘Freedom Convoy’ removed

A commemorative plaque celebrating a watershed moment of citizen resistance to the ‘Freedom Convoy’ last year has been taken down.

The plaque commemorated the so-called ‘Battle of Billings Bridge,’ when hundreds of people blocked an intersection to prevent convoy protesters from driving downtown on the third weekend of the occupation.

Why is the head of the CBC picking a fight with Pierre Poilievre?

CBC/Radio-Canada president Catherine Tait is a magnet for controversy. Since she took the helm of the public broadcaster in 2018, she has waded into political debates that most of her predecessors would have religiously avoided in the name of protecting the CBC’s independence.

Ms. Tait may feel she needs to be an advocate for public broadcasting at a time when the CBC’s raison d’être is being questioned as never before in its 86-year existence. But she more often than not comes across as thin-skinned and self-serving in her defence of a taxpayer-funded institution that has an obligation to serve all Canadians, not just the ones it chooses to.

Cause found in Keystone Pipeline’s massive oil leak

A spill of more than 500,000-gallons of crude oil from the Keystone Pipeline in December in Kansas was caused by a combination of a faulty weld and “bending stress fatigue” on the pipe, the conduit’s operator announced Thursday.

TC Energy, the pipeline’s Canadian operator, said the cause was determined by an independent lab analysis on the failed section of the 2,687-mile conduit.

Ottawa on ‘Wrong Track’ Handling Inflation, Housing Issues: Internal Government Poll

A majority of Canadians believe that Ottawa is on the wrong track when it comes to handling issues the public deems important, and its actions to address them have produced “little in the way of tangible impact thus far,” according to confidential polling conducted for the federal government.

The polling results, reported to the Privy Council Office and obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter, found that most individuals surveyed thought the Liberal government has been slow to act and is not doing a good job tackling inflation and housing issues.

MPs call for ‘transparency’ from intelligence officials on election interference claims

Opposition MPs pressed Canadian intelligence officials — often unsuccessfully — to share more information during a Thursday meeting of a Commons committee studying foreign election interference.

The House of Commons standing committee on procedure and House affairs has been delving into a story by Global News that reported the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) briefed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Chinese efforts to interfere in the 2019 election. The interference reportedly included Chinese government funding of at least 11 candidates.

Ex-swimmer demands transgender locker rooms after Lia Thomas allegedly exposed ‘male genitalia’

A former college swimming star demanded that the NCAA establish separate locker rooms for transgender athletes, after she claims she was exposed to Lia Thomas’ “male genitalia.”

Riley Gaines, 23, a 12-time All-American and five-time SEC champ at the University of Kentucky, alleges that she and her teammates had no other option than to change in front of Thomas, who switched from the men’s team to the women’s team at the University of Pennsylvania after undergoing hormone replacement therapy.

Public sector workers and the federal government on a collision course over double-digit wage demands

The federal government and unionized workers are preparing to lock horns over double-digit wage hikes to account for higher inflation and rules for remote work in what is shaping up to be a heated series of contract negotiations.

This year’s negotiations are particularly unusual and intense not only because of inflation, but because of the size and scope of public-service departments that are at the bargaining table, and the number of workers gearing up for strike votes.

‘Where’d You Go to Medical School?’: GOP Rep Rips Ex-Twitter Official for Censoring Stanford Doc’s Covid Opinions

Representative Nancy Mace (R., S.C.) blasted former top Twitter official Vijaya Gadde during a Wednesday hearing for presiding over the company’s censorship of alternative medical perspectives.

Gadde, former general counsel and head of legal, policy, and trust at Twitter, admitted under questioning that no one at the company had the medical standing to assess claims about Covid-mitigation strategies and vaccines so they instead deferred to CDC guidance and censored information that contradicted the agency’s guidance.

Are King and Country worth fighting for?

WHO today would be willing to fight for King and Country? With the parlous state Britain is in right now, I wouldn’t hazard a guess.

But when the question was famously put to the test 90 years ago today, the answer was resoundingly clear, triggering outrage and condemnation.

On February 9, 1933, the Oxford Union, the university’s student debating society, discussed the motion: ‘That this House will in no circumstances fight for its King and Country’. The motion was carried by 275 votes to 153.

Bill Gates finally addresses his jet-setting hypocrisy: we’re the problem, he’s the ‘solution’

The apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. We’ve all known that leftist dweeb Bill Gates holds absurdly misplaced views regarding his status as an “elite,” but he’s finally expressly verbalized (on video no less!) the same pseudo-superiority of his late father, and it’s just as gross and pathetic as you can imagine.

Sliding Toward the Abyss in Scandinavia

Islamization is a gradual process, but not so gradual that you can’t see it happening.

As Islam continues to gain numbers and power in Western Europe, certain questions take on greater importance. If you’re female or Jewish or gay, for example, and the only local doctor without a full patient list is a Muslim (and given how some nationalized medical systems work, this kind of situation arises not infrequently), do you choose to assume that he doesn’t take his religion’s teachings seriously, or do you move?

A rise in Muslim numbers means a rise in Muslim influence on many fronts. In Norway, there are about 1500 Jews and about 175,000 Muslims. When Jewish parents complain about their kids being beaten by their Muslim classmates – a charge that, if acted upon, can lead to major unrest – how do you expect teachers, principals, cops, and politicians to respond?

Madonna is no rebel

Her quest for validation gets more tragic by the day.

We’ve all spent an inordinate amount of time looking at Madonna. Hers, after all, is the face that launched a thousand dissertations. But now she is quite cross that we’ve seen a photograph of her at last weekend’s Grammy Awards, probably the last place in the universe you’d want to be if you were in any way trying to avoid your appearance receiving robust critique.
