Urgently needed: An internet archive system for the pro-freedom right

Gaslighting over the banning of gas stoves underscores the need to keep facts inconvenient to the fascist far-left from disappearing down the memory hole.

You know the drill by now: Bloomberg News had a story on January 9: “US Safety Agency to Consider Ban on Gas Stoves Amid Health Fears,” based on one study.  The resulting backlash was swift and sure, but instead of admitting their mistake of banning first and asking questions later, national socialist media sources went for the propaganda options of denial and ridicule, because that’s always conducive to discourse in a free society that values liberty and limited government.

How identity politics fuels anti-Semitism

A damning report about the National Union of Students shows that Jew hatred is festering in ‘progressive’ circles.

Published earlier this week, an independent report into anti-Semitism at the National Union of Students (NUS) makes for dispiriting reading. Written by barrister Rebecca Tuck, the report depicts an NUS that views anti-Semitism as a second-order problem, the scale of which is exaggerated by Jewish students. Too many NUS leaders seem to believe that anti-Semitism is far less important than other forms of discrimination.

Tuck’s report is damning. ‘For at least the last decade’, she argues, ‘Jewish students have not felt welcome or included in NUS spaces or elected roles’. Indeed, many Jewish students feel that the NUS treats them as pariahs. In numerous instances, leading NUS members have consciously downplayed the significance of instances of anti-Jewish hate.

El Chapo’s daughter-in-law calls the shots for Sinaloa drug clan

Mexico’s new cartel queen comes from trafficking royalty. Not only is she the daughter-in-law of perhaps the most infamous drug lord of recent years, her father was a high-ranking Sinaloa enforcer until he was tortured and murdered.

Adriana Meza Torres, believed to be in her early 30s, is said to have established herself as a queenpin of Los Chapitos, a faction of the deadly Sinaloa cartel. Her husband, Ovidio Guzmán López, a son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, was captured in a gunfight this month that claimed the lives of 29 people, ten of them Mexican troops.

Meza Torres is flaunting her newfound power, calling herself “boss’s wife” on social media and demonstrating her wealth in a series of flashy posts and videos on sites such as TikTok. Her apparent elevation to the role has been long in the making.

We cannot but conclude that, to them, social trust is not a good to be preserved. Indeed, economic determinism is often used to obscure social agendas and pretend non-economic goods like social trust are imprecise or ‘fuzzy’ categories.

The above social-scientific findings correspond to what the Amazon-owned Whole Foods company found when investigating the factors that lead to an increase of worker unionisation (unionisation being a useful proxy for social trust in this context).

After a leak of internal documents, it was revealed that low ethnic diversity was a predictor for higher unionisation: “stores at higher risk of unionizing have lower diversity.”

Conrad Black: Jordan Peterson is only the beginning — professional organizations come for us all

Last week in this space, I inveighed against the College of Psychologists of Ontario’s assault upon the constitutionally guaranteed civil rights of my eminent friend and probably Canada’s greatest contemporary public intellectual, Dr. Jordan Peterson. Continuing in the same theme, I’ve been looking at this creeping and under-publicized phenomenon of professional and craft organizations stifling and regimenting their members, in particular the struggle that has been conducted for the last six years between the supporters of the Statement of Principles, the so-called SOP, and its resisters in the Law Society of Ontario, (the Bar of Ontario), generally known as StopSOP. No one would seriously dispute that these professions and all learned or skilled associations of specialists do require some level of group regulation to oversee admission and standards, and that, in principle, it is better to come from associations led by people elevated by and answerable to those pursuing the relevant occupations, rather than indulging the current ravening public sector ambition to impose its fiat on all of society like an attacking swarm of Sheridan battle tanks.

Did Aliens Land on Earth in 1945? A Defense Bill Seeks Answers.

The Defense Department’s annual spending bill requires it to review U.F.O. sightings dating to 1945, the year some believe an object from space crashed in the New Mexico desert.

For the casual student of U.F.O. history, the modern idea of life beyond our planet usually dates to 1947, when a top-secret U.S. military balloon crashed in the desert near Roswell, N.M. The wreckage prompted decades of conspiracy theories and gave rise to the idea that Roswell was the site of an alien crash landing.

Now, thanks to a new congressional spending bill, U.F.O. enthusiasts may look to 1945 as the beginning of that era.

An amendment tucked into this year’s $858 billion National Defense Authorization Act, which funds the Defense Department’s annual operating budget, requires the department to review historical documents related to unidentified aerial phenomena — government lingo for U.F.O.s — dating to 1945. That is the year that, according to one account, a large, avocado-shaped object struck a communication tower in a patch of New Mexico desert now known as the Trinity Site, where the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated that July.

And so it is that, yielding to the entreaties of publicity, he has been interviewed by the estimable Bryony Gordon for the Telegraph. It’s an interesting feature, full of colour and anecdote, and demonstrates, as if it needed to, that the rebellious prince remains a source of endless fascination to everyone in his former home country.

Western officials increasingly fear that Ukraine has only a narrow window to prepare to repel an anticipated Russian springtime offensive, and are moving fast to give the Ukrainians sophisticated weapons they had earlier refused to send for fear of provoking Moscow.

Over the last few weeks, one barrier after another has fallen, starting with an agreement by the United States in late December to send a Patriot air-defense system. That was followed by a German commitment last week to provide a Patriot missile battery, and in the span of hours, France, Germany and the United States each promised to send armored fighting vehicles to Ukraine’s battlefields for the first time.

Outspoken Ontario Physician Against COVID Vaccination Has License Suspended

A physician who has taken a publicly critical stance to pandemic measures such as COVID-19 vaccination was suspended by his college on Jan. 5.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) suspended Dr. Chris Shoemaker through an interim order under the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Under the act and its Health Professions Procedural Code, the college can impose an interim suspension on a physician if it is “of the opinion the conduct of the member exposes or is likely to expose the member’s patients to harm or injury.”
