Well over a decade ago when I was working part-time in a Philadelphia calling center, one of the employees, an artist, asked a fellow employee if he would pose for him for a series of sketches he was doing for an art class. Although the situation seemed innocent enough, the 20-year-old employee who was asked to pose told his family about the artist’s “proposition,” and that’s when nasty stuff hit the fan.

They know enough, the ayatollahs, to get rid of their morality police who have for decades subverted Iranian civic life, as they’ve reportedly done this week after protests in that country continued.
The morality police in Iran were known for harassing Iranians — women especially — who were deemed insufficiently devoted to Islamic purity. Yet when the morality cops apparently killed a young women for her gall in showing too much hair, public protests erupted.

Afew years ago, I found myself in Amsterdam watching the French intellectual Bernard-Henri Lévy debate Russian intellectual Aleksandr Dugin on the subject of American hegemony and the global order. Abortions have dropped drastically in the U.S. state of Texas since the procedure became almost completely illegal in the state approximately five months ago.
Statistics from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission show that in the month after the state’s nearly complete ban on abortion went into effect, abortions in the state dropped from approximately 2,500 per month to just 68.
In June 2022, a U.S. Supreme Court decision returned the right to regulate abortion to state governments, ending over 40 years of nationwide court-imposed abortion on demand up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. In Texas, one of several states with a law criminalizing abortion still on the books, this meant abortion automatically became a crime unless the procedure was done to save the life of the mother.
A nonprofit group has discovered 48 new overseas police stations with ties to China’s communist regime, including two previously unknown facilities in Los Angeles and New York City.
The newly identified sites are among more than 100 police outposts that are spread out across 53 nations.
The facilities have been used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to carry out an illicit campaign of transnational repression, according to Safeguard Defenders, a nonprofit organization that published a Dec. 5 update to its findings from a previous investigation released in October.
