A security breach linked to Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine portal exposed the personal information of approximately 360,000 people in the province.
Those who are impacted will start receiving email notices on Friday if their personal information was part of this breach.

TDSB rules out return of armed police in school hallways amid rising student violence
The Toronto District School Board has ruled out the return of armed police to school hallways, even as it grapples with a rise in violent incidents amongst students.
That was made clear at a board meeting Wednesday night in which trustees discussed how to boost school safety and endorsed a plan that involves reaching deep into the community for help with what some are calling a crisis.
The TDSB’s 13-point action plan includes hiring more staff trained in de-escalation to work with youth, working with local groups to expand programming, creating an ad hoc team of experts, and growing partnerships with culturally responsive community organizations and faith-based groups.

Auditor General Karen Hogan told MPs on a parliamentary committee Thursday that foreign vessels without transponders can travel undetected through Canada’s Arctic because of “gaps” in surveillance technology and resources.
“Does Canada possess the capability to track a vessel that is without a transponder throughout the entire Arctic?” Conservative MP Pat Kelly asked Hogan during a House of Commons national defence committee meeting on Dec. 8.
“That was an identified gap that the government themselves had identified several years ago,” Hogan replied. “In repeated assessments on gaps, they re-identify it, but there’s just no action or solution taken to resolve that gap.”

A felony warrant on grand larceny charges was issued for Sam Brinton, the deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy, 8 News Now reported Thursday.
