We Can Reasonably Blame Former Twitter Executives’ Censorship for at Least Five Major Consequences

Friday night, journalist Matt Taibbi provided the first installment of internal Twitter communications. The first dump focused on the suppression of information during the 2020 Election, specifically the censorship of Hunter Biden’s laptop. According to Twitter CEO Elon Musk, there is more to come about shadow banning and other forms of censorship as thousands more pages are released. Still, taking what we have already learned at face value, some former Twitter executives have quite a bit to answer for.

Corporate Media Keeps Tossing Softballs At FTX Fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried

Usually when a person defrauds investors of millions of dollars and launders the funds to personal pet projects, he goes to jail. (See: Bernie Madoff.) But in FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried’s case, you get kid gloves.

It was obvious corporate media decided to treat SBF differently from the start. When FTX first crumbled, the New York Times characterized SBF’s fall from grace as pure mismanagement. SBF was described as a “charitable entrepreneur,” while the words “fraud,” “crime,” or “stolen,” do not appear anywhere in the article.

Virginia elementary school to host Satanic after-school program

An elementary school in Chesapeake, Virginia, will allow an “After School Satan Club” hosted by the Satanic Temple, according to a flyer for the program.

B.M. Williams Primary School will hold the monthly event starting December 15 in its library. The flyer states that children will work on science and community service projects, puzzles and games, nature activities, and crafts. It includes a cartoon of Satan dressed as a professor and claims that Lucifer is merely a literary figure who represents the human mind and spirit. Children who attend the program, the group says, will learn “critical thinking” skills.

A California high school teacher who told their thousands of followers on TikTok about their ‘queer classroom library’ is being slammed by parents over the sexually explicit content in many of the books.

The teacher, who goes by Flint and uses they/them pronouns, recently posted a video in which they opened a box of new Pride flags while discussing their queer-centric library, which they say has helped students who are ‘figuring out who they are.’

Is there any truth to Russia’s ‘Ukrainian Nazis’ propaganda?

Ever since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and even before, there were stories circulating that claimed many Ukrainians were adherents of Nazism. On well-known propaganda channels such as the German-language Telegram group “Neues aus Russland” (“News from Russia”), run by the allegedly independent journalist Alina Lipp, assertions regarding “Ukrainian Nazis” are rife. Such posts are influential — Lipp’s channel alone has more than 183,000 subscribers.

A simple search on the channel shows that the word “Nazi” occurs 285 times, “National Socialism” 22 times and “swastika” 17 times (as of November 25).

But why is there this narrative about Ukrainian Nazis? And what about the alleged evidence spread by pro-Russian accounts on social media?

The Pope’s Shameless Coddling of the Chicoms

He dignifies this stance as the “way of diplomacy.”

Early in his papacy, Pope Francis tweeted out, “Inequality is the root of social evil.” That statement remains a defining moment of his pontificate. Contained in that one remark is a Marxist mindset alien to the Church’s teachings which has animated many of the pope’s worst policies, including his appallingly sympathetic treatment of China’s brutal regime. One of his Argentine cronies at the Vatican, Bishop Marcel Sorondo, has said with a straight face, “[A]t this moment, those who best realize the social doctrine of the Church are the Chinese.” Tell that to the millions of Chinese peasants suffering under the Marxist heel of crude Chicoms for whom the degradation of human life is routine. Forced equality, not inequality, is the root of social evil in China.

Why Hasn’t Sam Bankman-Fried Been Arrested Yet?

On December 11, 2008, Bernie Madoff was arrested and criminally charged with one of the biggest financial frauds in history — an audacious, long-running Ponzi scheme that resulted in tens of billions of dollars in lost investor funds. At the time, the scandal sparked a national conversation about the gross deficiencies of our country’s white-collar enforcement regime, but ever since the initial revelations about the problems at FTX and about Sam Bankman-Fried’s criminal exposure, the Madoff case has resurfaced as a point of comparison for Bankman-Fried’s alleged misdeeds — and as a rallying cry for people who believe he should already have been locked up by U.S. prosecutors.

Bankman-Fried was asked about the comparison by Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos and (of course) rejected it, arguing that FTX was a “real business” in contrast to Madoff’s outright Ponzi scheme.

Canada’s overly educated work force is nothing to be proud of

Several months after receiving my second bachelor’s degree, I found myself working behind an espresso machine once again. When I graduated from high school in 2004, postsecondary education was presented as the ticket to high salaries and trappings of middle-class life such as home ownership.

Instead, my generation graduated from university into a global recession, followed by rising home and living costs and the global COVID-19 pandemic. The conventional wisdom was thrown on its head. Today, with the exception of certain professions, higher education guarantees little to workers.
