Those most responsible for the opioid epidemic are part of America’s most privileged classes

More than two decades into America’s catastrophic opioid epidemic, the demographics of this unprecedented tragedy are clear. By far, the brunt of the harm has been borne by America’s poor and working classes.

Multiple studies show a strong correlation between lack of employment, economic distress and overdose fatalities. Indeed, a 2021 study by the National Academy of Sciences concluded most of the decline in life expectancy beginning in the mid-1990s among working-age men and women was attributable to drug poisonings of people with a high school education or less.

Ukraine war: Wagner chief Prigozhin defends brutal killing video

The head of private Russian military group Wagner has defended a brutal video apparently showing the death of a mercenary who defected to Ukraine.

Putin ally Yevgeny Prigozhin said unverified footage of Yevgeny Nuzhin, 55, being struck with a sledgehammer was “a dog’s death for a dog”.

The convicted murderer announced in September he had changed sides.

In the video he says he was hit on the head while walking in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and woke up in a cellar.

Last week, a photo from the COP27 climate talks in Egypt went viral. Posing next to UN secretary-general António Guterres was 20-year-old Sophia Kianni, an American climate activist and student at Stanford. She claims to be the youngest adviser to the 73-year-old Guterres.

‘White nationalism’ a threat the Canadian Armed Forces aren’t equipped for: watchdog

“White nationalism” is an “active” threat to the Canadian Armed Forces, a new report says, but the Forces’ counter-intelligence unit is under-resourced and unable to “proactively” deal with the issue.

In a report released Monday, the independent National Security and Intelligence Review Committee (NSIRA) said the Department of National Defence has known for years their internal “counter-intelligence” branch has been underfunded and hindered by policy constraints.

After over two years without leaving his country, Chinese President Xi Jinping isn’t missing the chance for in-person diplomacy as he joins other world leaders at the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, this week.

Following a highly anticipated summit with U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday, Mr. Xi will meet with the leaders of Australia and Japan, as well as Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Not on the list however, is Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Canada’s harrowing euthanasia experiment should be a warning to the world

Parliament is now calmly discussing whether disabled children could be euthanised by doctors. In other words, infanticide

The representative of the medical regulator spoke in a straightforward, unemotional voice, as though his statements were self-evidently true. Sick children between the ages of 14 and 17, he told the parliamentary committee, should be allowed to choose to commit suicide with medical assistance.

Parents of babies who are born with severe disabilities should be allowed to kill them. Elderly people for whom “life no longer makes any sense” should also be able to end theirs. And so should the mentally ill, and so on and on. Members of the committee ask some follow-up questions, but no one pushes back.

Junior’s Canada is so progressive you can’t tell us apart from the Nazis.

Biden and Xi Hold ‘Very Blunt’ Talks After CCP Aide Shoves Reporter

President Joe Biden met with Chinese communist leader Xi Jinping on Nov. 14 for the duo’s first face-to-face meeting of the Biden presidency. The two discussed the future of Taiwan, human rights in China, and global competition but appeared to reach no new ground on any of the issues in a meeting marred by Chinese communist violence.

“We had an open and candid conversation about our intentions and our priorities,” Biden said after the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia.

Update: 4 University of Idaho Students Dead in ‘Crime of Passion’

The four University of Idaho students who were found dead in off-campus housing Sunday have been identified.

According to Moscow police, 20-year-old Ethan Chapin, 21-year-old Madison Mogen, 20-year-old Xana Kernodle and 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves died in a homicide at their off-campus house on King Road.

Mogen, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Goncalves’ Facebook profiles show they were members of the Alpha Phi sorority on campus, while Ethan Chapin was in Sigma Chi.

Citing Russian Mercenaries, UK to Withdraw Troops From Mali

LONDON (AP) – Britain announced Monday it is withdrawing its peacekeepers from Mali, saying the West African country´s growing reliance on Russian mercenaries is undermining stability.

Armed Forces Minister James Heappey said the 300-strong British force that has been stationed in Mali since 2020 as part of a United Nations peacekeeping mission will leave earlier than planned. He did not give a timeline.
