The federal prison service is hiring an executive to address soaring rates of Indigenous incarceration, yielding to 18 years of demands from prisoners’ rights advocates.
The job posting for “Deputy Commissioner, Indigenous Corrections” at Correctional Service Canada appeared on the government’s job site in recent days and calls for applicants who can “champion Indigenous Corrections and ensure the appropriate attention and accountability towards Indigenous issues, including the overrepresentation of Indigenous offenders, and help CSC to implement the many calls for justice.”
It’s unfortunate but are we solely to blame?

How Iran’s security forces are shooting to kill with ‘non-combat’ shotgun shells

At least 277 Iranians have been documented killed in the protests that have wracked Iran since September 16 over the death of Mahsa Amini, a young woman who died after being arrested by the morality police. Security forces have repressed the protests by force.

While the single highest death toll – more than 66 people killed in the city of Zahedan on September 30 – happened when police opened fire using live rifle bullets, other protesters have been killed and injured by beatings and the use of so-called “less-lethal” weapons – notably shotguns.

Vaccine heart damage and the warnings brushed aside

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has failed to act on repeated calls to ‘stop the Covid shot’ from doctors and scientists concerned that the jabs are injuring hundreds of thousands of people, sometimes fatally.

The predominantly industry-funded MHRA insists that the vaccine is the single and most effective way to reduce deaths and serious illness from Covid-19, and that the benefits ‘far outweigh any currently known side effects’. The National Health Service also continues to insist the jabs are ‘safe and effective’.

Should America be more like Ukraine?

There’s nothing wrong with liberal nationalism

For those of us in the West, the Ukrainian response to the Soviet invasion has been somewhat embarrassing. We are used to living in peace and prosperity and are not in the habit of fighting for our way of life or making sacrifices for the common good. I don’t think I’m alone in asking myself whether, under similar circumstances, we would be as courageous and unselfish as the Ukrainians have proved themselves to be. The question brings a blush to the cheeks.

Cowardice kills

The failures on the night of the Manchester Arena bombing are so shocking they’re almost unbelievable.

So now we know the grim truth about the dark hours that followed the suicide bombing of the Manchester Arena in 2017. Which is that our slow, slack response exacerbated Salman Abedi’s atrocity. Our hesitant reaction to this act of Islamist barbarism contributed to the suffering of the people who were caught up in it. It even seems that one of the deaths on that most calamitous of nights was a consequence not only of Abedi’s vile, bloody act but also of the paucity of the emergency services’ response. Take that in: someone died because we did not act. This is an extraordinary scandal.

Fiasco: Anti-Defamation League in Hot Water After Botched Attempt To Partner With Anti-Semite Kyrie Irving

NBA star Kyrie Irving left the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) with egg on its face after the group pledged to partner with Irving and his team, the Brooklyn Nets, to steer a $1 million donation to Jewish organizations following Irving promotion of an anti-Semitic documentary. Then, on Thursday, Irving said that — actually — he had nothing to apologize for.

Now, the ADL is backtracking, with CEO Jonathan Greenblatt pledging not to take any money from Irving but saying he is nonetheless willing to “engage in a process of healing and learning” with the unapologetic anti-Semite.

‘People are pissed:’ Ottawa police logs describe confrontational, abusive crowds during protest

Ottawa police officers assigned to work with the convoy protesters described abusive and confrontational — but also sometimes cooperative — crowds during last winter’s blockades, according to their logs presented at the Emergencies Act inquiry.

Hundreds of pages of logs from the police liaison team were entered into evidence on Friday at the Public Order Emergency Commission, which is investigating the federal government’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act on Feb. 14 to clear the crowds.

The document includes the date and time of the record, the officer’s last name and badge number and a brief summary of what each officer observed on a given day.

The Great Reset: A Perfect Storm

Such a storm is now upon us. All its elements clearly point to an orchestrated intention; in other words, it cannot be an accident. And the intention we discern in the current historical moment, the underlying plan, would appear to lay the ground for what has been called a “techno-totalitarian digital dark age,” associated with the Club of Rome, the United Nations, and the World Economic Forum, that is, what has come to be known as the Great Reset — the corporate takeover of property, health, currency, travel, energy, and sustenance. The upshot involves a thorough restructuring of democratic society along neo-medieval lines, an elimination of the middle class, a two-tier political order, and a reduction of the global census.
