Iran to soon sanction US, Canada individuals, entities

“Based on the ratifications of relevant authorities, within the framework of related laws and sanctions mechanisms and as a reciprocal action, the Islamic Republic of Iran will soon place sanctions on American and Canadian individuals and institutions for their intentional measures to support terrorism and terror groups and to fuel and provoke terrorism, violence and hate-mongering, which have led to riots, violence, terror acts and violations of the Iranian nation’s rights,” he said in response to a question by reporters about the Ministry’s planned measures in retaliation for the recent sanctions by the US and Canada.

Following the recent riots in Iran, the United States and Canada, while issuing interventionist statements, imposed sanctions on Iranian individuals and institutions on several occasions.

First Nations say the decision by the B.C. government to not support an Indigenous-led bid for the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games is a step back for reconciliation.

This would have been the first Olympic bid led by an Indigenous group but the province said it could not support it.

They host the Olympics but we pay for it? That’s not “reconciliation” that’s a scam.

Poll: Most Americans Ever Say Crime Up in Their Neighborhood

More Americans are reporting a crime increase in their neighborhoods than at any point since 1972, when Gallup first polled the issue.

Fifty-six percent of U.S. adults perceive more crime in their area than the year prior, the group’s latest poll found—a 5-point increase from 2021. The highest level the pollster previously recorded was 54 percent in 1981 and 1992.

Ilhan Omar drops thousands on security following calls to dismantle police

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s campaign recently dropped tens of thousands of dollars on private security services following her calls to defund the police and support for a campaign to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department, federal filings show.

The Minnesota Democrat’s campaign spent $27,081.14 on “security services” between July and September, almost all of which went to Relative Intel LLC, Federal Election Commission records show. Relative Intel offers protection services, training and consulting.

Canada restricting foreign state-owned firms from critical mineral industry

The federal government is restricting the involvement of foreign state-owned companies in Canada’s critical minerals sector.

Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson say critical minerals are key to the country’s prosperity and security.

They say that is why Ottawa is rolling out new rules that will make it more difficult for companies owned or operated by foreign governments to buy or invest in the industry.

In other words they found a way to make their buddies rich.

MPs back motion calling on government to recognize residential schools program as genocide

Members of Parliament gave unanimous consent Thursday in favour of a motion calling on the federal government to recognize Canada’s residential schools as genocide.

Leah Gazan, the NDP member of Parliament for Winnipeg Centre, introduced the motion following Question Period Thursday afternoon. Gazan brought forward a similar motion in June last year, but it did not receive unanimous consent.

That sets a pretty low bar.

Why have climate activists made temper tantrums their primary tactic?

Dumping milk onto floors. Hurling food onto walls. Refusing to eat. Gluing body parts. Throwing paint. Refusing to leave. Threatening to pee and poop in your pants. Screaming accusations. Are those the behaviors of a toddler’s temper tantrum? Yes. But they’re also the dominant tactics of today’s climate activists.

Consider the case of Gianluca Grimalda. On October 19, Grimalda, along with 15 other members of a climate activist group called Scientist Rebellion, glued himself to the floor of the visitors center next to a Volkswagon factory in Germany. The VW security guards brought pizza to Grimalda and the other activist scientists, but Grimalda felt disrespected and so he declared a hunger strike in retaliation.

Controlling immigration has proven difficult because the political establishments in destination countries tend to view mass, unfettered, and unvetted immigration as a benign phenomenon. Two examples capture this outlook. In 2014, Sweden’s establishment parties, making up 86 percent of the parliament, joined forces to marginalize the civilizationist party (that is, the party focused on controlling immigration and demanding the integration of immigrants) with 14 percent. Angela Merkel, the establishment German chancellor, waved in over 1 million unvetted migrants, leading to a pan-European crisis in 2015-16.

With worries about inflation, the war in Ukraine, and tension over Taiwan, it’s easy for Americans to forget that we are now deep into the four-year period marking the eightieth anniversary of World War II. Last December marked eighty years since the day of infamy at Pearl Harbor, while this June passed the date of the critical victory at Midway. In a little less than two years, it will be eight decades since the greatest invasion in history, on D-Day. Soon after will follow commemorations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and both V-E and V-J Days. Each year, living memory of that global struggle continues to fade, with the passage of both time and the Greatest Generation.

A Vermont school allowed a transgender pupil to make ‘death threats’ against another student who complained about them using female changing rooms, a lawsuit claims.

Blake Allen, 14, was suspended from Randolph Union High School after she called a biologically male student, who identifies as a female, a ‘dude’.

Her father Travis was fired from his job as the girls’ soccer coach for also calling the student in question a ‘male’.

So he’s done it. The richest man in the world and self-styled ‘free-speech absolutist’ has taken over Twitter. The bête noire of illiberal liberals has got his hands on social media. Cue meltdown. Listening to the woke set you’d be forgiven for thinking that the gates of hell had been flung open and every manner of evil and blasphemy will now pour forth. Twitter could become a ‘soap box for hate speech’, fretted one media outlet yesterday. It really is extraordinary how much some people fear freedom.
