The founder of the online group “Diagolon” remains in custody after being denied release following a bail hearing in Saskatchewan.
Jeremy MacKenzie was arrested on September 29 in Cole Harbour, N.S., on a Canada-wide warrant related to charges laid by the Mounties in Saskatchewan in July.

French police appear to be checking fuel tanks before allowing people to fill up their cars as the nation experiences severe shortages, according to one local news outlet.
France24 reported Saturday that some motorists have been turned away in Arras as the nation struggles with fuel strikes spurring shortages. One clip shows a motorist arriving at a fueling station only to be told he could not fill up his tank.
Sweden has said it will not allow Moscow to participate in its ongoing investigation into the causes of multiple leaks in underwater pipelines transporting Russian natural gas to Europe.
Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said on October 10 that while Russia would not be allowed to join the investigation, Stockholm would invite a joint EU probe and Moscow was free to carry out its own inspections of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines.
“In Sweden, preliminary investigations are confidential, and this is of course also true in this case,” Andersson told reporters.

This week Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Counsel John Durham will begin presenting evidence in the trial of Igor Danchenko, the serial liar whom the FBI used as its “source” to justify spying on the Trump campaign. Durham has already made a bombshell disclosure that the FBI secretly put Danchenko on the bureau’s payroll despite knowing that the information he fed them was fabricated. There is much speculation that more evidence of the bureau’s misconduct will be revealed as the Danchenko trial unfolds.

Viral videos of senseless violence have captured public attention since crime began rising in 2020. Some of the most extreme examples are attacks against Asian-Americans. Yet many academics, advocates, and reporters argue that these cases leave a false impression. “While news reports and social media have perpetuated the idea that anti-Asian violence is committed mostly by people of color,” reported NBC News last year, “a new analysis shows the majority of attackers are white.” Unfortunately, the crime against 70-year-old Mrs. Ren is representative in many ways.
Research shows the media is far more concerned about right-wing extremism than its left-wing counterpart.
Giorgia Meloni’s recent victory in the Italian national election prompted an outburst of references to far-right political extremism in American and European news media. Given the challenge of establishing a politically neutral reference point for determining precisely what counts as political extremism, it is natural to wonder whether media outlets are equally likely to denounce ideological extremism from the left as from the right. Our recent research shows that when it comes to calling out political extremism, media figures are much more likely to decry political extremism from the right than from the left. We have the data to prove it.

Like America, Canada is a nation comprised of people from around the world. And like America—perhaps even more than America—Canada is wearing racial blindfolds that make the government incapable of seeing that, just as “people of color” represent many different races, lands, and cultures, the same is true for “pale faced” people. This blindness erases Canada’s rich ethnic history.
As an anthropologist who spent 17 years living and working in Sub-Saharan Africa, where Black lives really matter and where everyone belongs to a tribe with which they identify, it pains me that I must explain to fellow Canadians (and Americans) that pale-faced people are not all the same. Are they just one thing — that is, one ethnic group in contrast to the myriad of “others”? No.
We have known for some time that today’s young people face more debt, more job competition and lower relative incomes than their parents and grandparents at the same age. But when we surveyed 1,509 young people – including those who did not attend college – we found there is a worrying lack of optimism about their economic prospects across the board.
In research undertaken for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, we explored the economic outlook and attitudes of young adults aged under 30 who were born or went to school in Canada. What we found paints a picture of a generation frustrated by intergenerational inequality and a strong sense that the deck is stacked against them.
Police’s new ‘hate crime’ officer bombarded with abuse on social media
Leicestershire Police is investigating trolls who bombarded the force’s new hate crime officer with abuse when she introduced herself online. Sumaya Bihi announced herself as the force’s new specialist officer on Twitter in a post on Monday, October 3.
However, she faced a barrage of abuse from numerous Twitter accounts. Some used racist and derogatory language, including comments about her appearance and referring specifically to her hijab.
Not sure I care for a “Hate Crime” officer that looks like a member of Iran’s Morality Squad.
