Bruce Pardy: Racial discounts for violent criminals was inevitable in equity-obsessed Canada

In December 2021, Everton Downey stabbed his girlfriend Melissa Blimkie 15 times in a stairwell at a shopping mall in Burnaby. She died. Downey was convicted of second-degree murder. In February, the British Columbia Supreme Court sentenced him to life in prison, the minimum sentence set out in the Criminal Code. The Crown sought no chance for parole for at least 15 years. But Associate Chief Justice Heather Holmes decided on 12 years instead, in part because of “mitigating circumstances of his background,” as described in his Impact of Race and Culture Assessment (IRCA). The time to parole was reduced because of Downey’s experience of being Black.

Diversity for Thee—But Not for Me

White progressives vote one way with their ballots, another way with their feet.

White progressives in America, as in Britain, avoid diverse neighborhoods and are more likely to leave diverse places than white conservatives. In effect, they don’t practice what they preach. These are the findings from large-scale quantitative research in the United States and Britain, recently published in my academic article, “White flight from immigration?: Attitudes to diversity and white residential choice.”

Diversity is a core value for white progressives in America and other Western countries. Over 60 percent of them support increasing immigration. As the Manhattan Institute’s Zach Goldberg shows, they are the only major part of the population to feel warmer toward other racial groups than toward their own: they rate whites as more lazy and violent, and less intelligent, than blacks. Among white progressives, 87 percent say that having an “increasing number of people of many different races, ethnic groups and nationalities” makes the U.S. a better place to live, while virtually none says that it makes the country worse.

A crisis of masculinity imperils the foundations of the West

In Britain and elsewhere, too many men and boys are being ostracised, with tragic results for both sexes

We need to talk about boys and men. For there is a growing crisis of masculinity in Britain, and – by tackling only the symptoms and not the causes – we risk making it worse.

In recent months, following the arrest of British-American social media personality Andrew Tate, stories about misogynistic misconduct by police officers, and concerns about sexism among schoolboys, the crisis of masculinity has gained increased prominence. And Labour, which had already attempted to make misogyny a hate crime, sees a political opportunity. Keir Starmer has pledged to halve violence against women – without saying how – and promised to add lessons on treating girls and women with respect to the school curriculum.

Keep your children away from public schools if you can at all avoid them.

Men’s spaces were colonised by feminists first

There has been a good deal of talk lately about women’s spaces being invaded by biologically male persons identifying as women. Some women’s campaigners claim that the trans phenomenon constitutes an attack on womanhood itself, an attempt to ‘erase’ women and replace them with men who perform womanhood. Some even call it a new form of patriarchy.

But well before women had their single-sex spaces threatened, something similar had already happened to men. Beginning in the 1970s, men’s spaces were usurped, their maleness was denigrated, and policies and laws forced changes in male behaviour that turned many workplaces into feminised fiefdoms in which men held their jobs only so long as women allowed them to. The very idea of an exclusively male workspace or club – especially if it was a space for socialising (not so much if it was a sewer, oil field, or shop floor in which men did unpleasant, dangerous work) – came to be seen as dangerous. In light of the recent furor over single-sex spaces for women, it is useful to consider the source of some men’s justifiable apathy and resentment.

No Boys Allowed? New CyberStart Canada Program Will Cater Only to Girls and Non-Binary Students

… Canadian liberals have decided to follow America’s lead on creating their new cyber initiative that reeks with overtones of overt anti-male discrimination, as Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, which is Toronto Metropolitan University’s National Centre for “training, innovation, and collaboration in cybersecurity,” has recently announced a new program called CyberStart Canada.

The program, which is funded by Canadian taxpayers via Public Safety Canada’s Cyber Security Cooperation Program, will initially provide services and education to 700 girls and non-binary students from Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia in 2022-23 in what is being described as a “gamified environment,” and then throughout Canada the following year.

According to the eligibility requirements listed on the program’s website, “Priority in 2022 will be given to students in Ontario, Alberta or British Columbia who self-identify as girls or non-binary. Students must be over the age of 13 to participate.”

The Anti-White Lie Behind Multiculturalism

Like America, Canada is a nation comprised of people from around the world. And like America—perhaps even more than America—Canada is wearing racial blindfolds that make the government incapable of seeing that, just as “people of color” represent many different races, lands, and cultures, the same is true for “pale faced” people. This blindness erases Canada’s rich ethnic history.

As an anthropologist who spent 17 years living and working in Sub-Saharan Africa, where Black lives really matter and where everyone belongs to a tribe with which they identify, it pains me that I must explain to fellow Canadians (and Americans) that pale-faced people are not all the same. Are they just one thing — that is, one ethnic group in contrast to the myriad of “others”? No.

Ottawa will implement legislation to decrease Indigenous incarceration, Canada’s Justice Minister says

Canada’s Justice Minister is adamant that Liberal legislation will begin reversing the country’s disproportionate rate of Indigenous incarceration, but he acknowledges more needs to be done to address racial inequities in the justice system.

In an interview, Justice Minister David Lametti responded to recent criticism that the Liberal government has produced little in the way of policy response to the problem. The Globe reported earlier this month that Indigenous women now make up 50 per cent of the female population in federal prisons, even though just 4.9 per cent of women in Canada are Indigenous. For all Indigenous prisoners, men and women, the rate stands at 32 per cent.

HHS Sec. Xavier Becerra Promotes Critical Race Theory-Based ‘Health Equity’ as Top Priority

“Health equity has to be part of everything we do,” Becerra said, during an address marking his first year in office. “You will see health equity pervades everything we do.”

For the left, “equity” means rationing and redistributing resources based on perceived oppression, privilege, and social status — typically based on race or gender identity.

Biden admin to send crack pipes to drug addicts to advance ‘racial equity’

The baffling measure is included in the Department of Health and Human Services’ fiscal year 2022 Harm Reduction Program Grant program. In the document, the crack pipe plan is described as the dispersion of federal government funds for the slightly more anodyne “smoking kits/supplies.”

More than 50 attorneys sign letter to Lightfoot urging her to abandon new ordinance targeting gang members

The proposal, called the “Victims’ Justice Ordinance,” was introduced as Lightfoot is under pressure to crack down on Chicago’s gun violence and high homicide rate. It was expected to prompt legal challenges from civil rights attorneys and social justice organizations, who believe the measure could wrongly accuse Black and Latino residents of being involved in gang activity.

In practice, ‘diversity, equity and inclusion’ boils down to leftist dogma, including hatred of Israel

Kudos to the Heritage Foundation workers who pinned down crystal-clear evidence of ugly bias among those pushing “diversity, equity and inclusion,” or DEI.

Specifically, proof that US university DEI staffers are overwhelmingly anti-Israel — and pro the government of China.

They identified 741 DEI officials at 65 different campuses, then examined each one’s Twitter feed for statements on Israel and China.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Result in Anti-Semitism

G. Tod Slone has written that “as a political ideology, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), has proven time and again to be against freedom, reason, and truth.  Proponents of the ideology tend to be hypocrites and anti-white racists [.]”

In fact, DEI is also a pathway to anti-Semitism.
