Last month, in the middle of the COVID panic, a group of freshmen at the University of Connecticut were welcomed to their campus via a series of online ‘events’. At one event, students were directed to download an app for their phones. The app allowed students to input their home address, and it would piously inform them from which group of Native Americans their home had been ‘stolen’.

The so-called “global community” that Western liberals frequently look to for formulating and implementing “global governance” showed its true colors by voting down a proposal by the United States, Britian, Canada, and other, mostly Western, countries to debate a UN report on human rights abuses and alleged crimes against humanity committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against its Muslim Uyghur population in China’s Xinjiang province. The vote in the UN Human Rights Council was 17 for debate, 19 against, and 11 abstaining. CNBC reports that the defeat of the motion to debate marks the second time in the council’s 16-year history that such a motion has been defeated. The vote was a victory for China and a defeat for the United States and the West.
Jury selection begins today in Harvey Weinstein’s Los Angeles trial where nine women – including Gavin Newsom’s wife – will testify about how he allegedly abused them.
The trial is expected to last for months and could put Weinstein behind bars for life. In this case, he faces 11 charges relating to alleged crimes against five women. An additional four will testify as bad character witnesses.
Among the alleged victims to whom the charges pertain is Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Although Germany is one of the richest countries in the world, signs of increasing poverty are becoming increasingly visible across the country. Homeless people sleeping rough, mothers forgoing meals in order to feed their children, pensioners looking for discarded bottles to trade for the deposit.
According to the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband, Germany’s umbrella organization for welfare organizations, 13.8 million Germans either live in poverty or are at risk of slipping below the poverty line. The German government also voices its concerns about the growing gap between rich and poor.
The term poverty in this context does not mean that millions of people in Germany are at risk of starving or freezing to death. Instead, it refers to relative poverty, which is measured by the average living conditions of the society in question.

Germany is to pay most of the nation’s December gas bills as part of an effort to shield citizens and the economy from the energy crisis fuelled by Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Berlin has riled EU neighbours by allocating up to €200bn (£175.5bn) for a “defensive shield” to ease the strain, amid warnings in Berlin that Europe’s largest economy must reduce its gas consumption by 20 per cent to prevent a potential shortage this winter.

Full disclosure There is a bit of history between Hayden and me. I opposed his nomination to be CIA director, by saying at the time, “Bottom line: I do believe he’s the wrong person, the wrong place at the wrong time.”

To peddle its neoliberal ideological wares, the multinational corporate state, after years of ignoring the “far right” and hoping it would go away, is now forced to contend with its electoral successes as it works to marginalize the undesirables. First the power structure ignores, then it attacks.
