The United States secretly manufactured biological weapons in Ukraine. It trained birds to carry pathogens into Russia. It created Covid-19. It operated laboratories in Nigeria that engineered this year’s outbreak of monkeypox.

Of the many falsehoods that the Kremlin has spread since the war in Ukraine began more than six months ago, some of the most outlandish and yet enduring have been those accusing the United States of operating clandestine biological research programs to wreak havoc around the globe.

As the US supreme court justice Clarence Thomas prepared to take questions from members of the rightwing legal advocacy group the Federalist Society, a few years back, he turned to the moderator.

Thomas joked that the nondescript man in the blue suit and white shirt was the “No 3 most powerful person in the world”, and then fell about laughing. The target of the judge’s mirth, Leonard Leo, grinned and remarked: “God help us.”

It’s time for a fightback against rainbow authoritarianism.

Imagine there was a political movement so powerful and so intolerant that you might be visited by the cops for making fun of it. A movement so dominant that desecrating its symbols came to be treated as a kind of blasphemy. A movement so fawned over by the elites that any town or village that refused to bow down to it – to wave its flag and shout its slogans – risked being written off as unsafe, and essentially as unclean. A movement so embedded in the ruling class that every wing of the establishment, from the political set to the military to the financial elite, was duty bound to display its insignia.

The Paradox Of Fermi’s Paradox

Is it possible some UAP are extraterrestrial craft? Is it reasonable to think there is intelligent alien life visiting earth?

Scientists still debate whether the universe is infinite, but at a minimum, our visible universe contains trillions of galaxies, each with hundreds of billions of planets and moons. As best we can tell, the same laws of physics apply everywhere, and the heavy organic molecules that form the basic building blocks of life are abundant. In short, from the nearest solar systems to the most distant edges of space and time, we are surrounded by endless opportunities for life. Amidst these endless opportunities, intelligent extraterrestrial life is a near mathematical certainty. But what about the prospects for intelligent life to evolve in Earth’s galactic neighborhood? Although estimates vary considerably, many indicate we are probably not alone in the Milky Way.

I can’t say that UFO’s exist but a growing body of evidence indicates that it may be so. Personally I am leaning toward toward a belief in their existence.

Dowd is familiar with predicting trends and observing patterns, and became interested in studying CDC data after he heard many anecdotal accounts of vaccine injury. He found a monumental spike in sudden deaths occurring in the fall of 2021 to early 2022 in the working age cohort, which corresponded to the Biden administration’s vaccine mandates for federal and corporate employees.

As a humanist who writes about the impact of digital technology on our lives, I am often mistaken for a futurist. The people most interested in hiring me for my opinions about technology are usually less concerned with building tools that help people live better lives in the present than they are in identifying the Next Big Thing through which to dominate them in the future. I don’t usually respond to their inquiries. Why help these guys ruin what’s left of the internet, much less civilisation?

Can Pierre Poilievre contain the populist beast he has unleashed?

The polarizing Conservative leadership front-runner “caught a tiger by the tail and he may not be able to control what he has created.”

Having just watched the first episode of the hyped-up “Rings of Power” streaming series, it got me thinking about the upcoming Sept. 10 coronation of Pierre Poilievre and the path the new leader of the federal Conservative party will choose as the ring-bearer of the Official Opposition.

Like the dwarves who dug too deep for riches in the mines of Moria, Poilievre has plumbed the depths of social media for conspiracy theories and grievance rhetoric, coming up with campaign gold by embracing the freedom convoy and anti-vaxxers. It has earned him a ton cash for party coffers and a record number of new memberships.

The question now is whether Poilievre can contain the populist beast he has unleashed by channelling his inner Stephen Harper, or whether he’d rather hop on its back, ring firmly embedded, and burn the place down.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau weighed in last week on a vile campaign of racist and misogynist harassment currently being endured by several Canadian women in the public eye, including journalists — a campaign that police have not been terribly interested in addressing, according to the women’s reports. (One reported being advised to “lower your expectations,” which some Canadian police forces nowadays may as well adopt as their motto.)

Suspect, 38, is charged with kidnapping billionaire heiress ‘by forcing her into his black SUV’ while she was out jogging: Cops raid apartment and search McDonald’s dumpsters in Memphis

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the kidnapping of billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher, police said early Sunday morning.

Cleotha Abston was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence following Fletcher’s Friday disappearance.

‘The investigation into the abduction of Eliza Fletcher is still active and ongoing. Investigators are continuing the search and following all leads,’ police said in a statement.

It was 2014, and the militants had issued an edict that Eitizaz and fellow colleagues working for BBC in that country were to be shot on sight. They received messages warning they were living on borrowed time.

Eitizaz fled to Canada as a refugee, she found work with CBC and then the Toronto Star, and the dread faded. But new threats have landed in her inbox — this time, targeting her for being a journalist in Canada.

A young woman cries and pleads for her life. In a 19-minute video published by Afghan media on August 30, a former medical student named Elaha showed images she says came from being beaten, raped and tortured by Saeed Khosty, a former Taliban official, during the past six months. She says Khosty threatened her family and forced her to marry him.

University feminist society ‘purged by trans activists’ with members frightened into quitting

A university feminist society has been “purged by trans activists”, with its email accounts shut down and members quitting for their safety.

The women-only Swansea University Feminist Society had dozens of students attending its meetings, advertised as a “space away from men” to discuss issues such as the Welsh city’s surge of spiking incidents.

But campus activists made “transphobia” allegations and demanded its leader be expelled after the society publicly supported Kathleen Stock, the professor bullied for her trans views at Sussex University, and promoted the feminist writer Helen Joyce’s book.
