Last week, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that Canada and the People’s Republic of China will enhance law enforcement cooperation on drug trafficking, transnational and cybercrime, and money laundering. On paper, this sounds reasonable. Fentanyl is devastating communities. Cybercrime drains billions. Organized crime adapts faster than borders.
Europe is headed for another civil war. They had two in the previous century, the Great War (rebranded later as World War I) and World War II. This one splits the East from the West as the Eastern countries trapped by communism under the Soviet Union do not want to be part of the Western countries foolishly chasing communism and embracing the Muslim invasion.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says a global order based on rules has been rendered “fiction” and is urging smaller countries to forge new strategic alliances to keep from being subjugated by “great powers” acting in their own self-interest.
Carney’s speech Tuesday to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, did not specifically name-check President Donald Trump or his administration, but it amounted to a rallying cry for smaller countries to work together to wrestle economic control of their future.
“This fiction was useful,” Carney said. “This bargain no longer works.”

The AfD is divided. Donald Trump’s latest foreign policy adventures have split the Right-wing nationalist German party which, as Politico reports, is are now becoming increasingly sceptical of the US President’s agenda. This is clear from the response to Trump’s threat of further tariffs on Europe over Greenland, with AfD co-leader Alice Weidel suggesting yesterday that Germany should enter talks with the US to avoid a trade war.

When a Canadian prime minister praises the idea of a “new world order” while sitting in China, he is not engaging in neutral diplomacy. He is endorsing language that carries an extremely specific meaning in Beijing and an unmistakable warning signal in Washington. For a country whose security and prosperity depend on solidarity with the United States, with whom it has had a historically challenging relationship, Carney’s comments carry significant risk, if not real damage.

The FBI has served Minnesota officials including Gov. Tim Walz, attorney general Keith Ellison and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey with grand jury subpoenas for allegedly conspiring to hinder ICE operations in the state, according to FOX reports.
The subpoenas are requesting “records and communications” from the officials, according to FOX News, as anti-ICE protests roil the Twin Cities nearly two weeks after Renee Good was shot by an agent after she clipped him with her SUV.

Trump has been a bad neighbor, so maybe Carney is trolling Trump for musing about making Canada the 51st state. They had, Trump said, ‘journeyed to Greenland for purposes unknown’ and he accused them of playing a ‘very dangerous game’.
