Nolte: Spielberg‘s ‘Woke Side Story‘ Dives 68% at Box Office in Week Two

All hope for Steven Spielberg’s racially divisive West Side Story remake died in week two, plummeting 68 percent with a humiliating take of just $3.4 million.

After ten days in release, which includes two weekends, this historic box office bomb has grossed just $17.9 million.

Review – ‘West Side Story’: The Music Survives Socialist Realism

The new film adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical play “West Side Story” opened Dec. 10 to the conundrum of rave reviews and limp box office. Why director Steven Spielberg decided that the highly celebrated, Oscar-winning 1961 film of this musical needed remaking is anyone’s guess. If his purpose was to update the script to reflect current politically correct attitudes, he succeeded.

Tony Kushner’s screenplay includes several laughable interpolations of present cultural beliefs, including the pointless inclusion of the Puerto Rican national anthem sung with raised fists. Another is the evolution of tomboy character Anybody’s into a fully trans female-to-male whose monstrous physical strength somehow allows her/him to beat up a roomful of police officers.

That sounds like Oscar Bait. I’m not kidding.

Trump demands China pay $60T in ‘reparations’ for the coronavirus pandemic

Former President Donald Trump said Sunday that China should pay reparations for its role in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Trump, a leading figure within the GOP, told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that the communist regime should be held responsible for its role in helping spread the coronavirus.

“China has to pay, they have to do something,” said Mr. Trump. “They have to pay reparations and China doesn’t have the money to pay those reparations.”

Kim Potter: ‘Taser mix-up’ ex-officer weeps in manslaughter testimony

A former Minnesota police officer has tearfully recounted the “chaotic” moment she shot and killed a black motorist in April.

Kim Potter, 49, claims she mistakenly drew her gun instead of her Taser and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright.

She now faces two manslaughter charges for his death. Her defence team claims he was resisting arrest.

I feel very sorry for this woman. She will not get off despite this being a horrid accident.

The CBC’s ad revenue problem continues

Advertising revenues at the CBC fell again last year. According to Mother Corp’s annual report, recently tabled in Parliament, ad sales were down from $220 million in 2019 to just under $199 million in 2020, a drop of about 10% in one year.

On top of that, CBC’s share of prime-time viewers fell by 2%, despite the fact locked-down Canadians watched more TV than ever before during the pandemic. At any given time during prime viewing hours (8 to 11 p.m.), just 5% of Canadians are watching our state broadcaster.

5% ??? The CBC has succeeded in uniting Canadians in their disdain for the CBC.

BC Forbids Unvaccinated From Hosting or Attending Private Gatherings During the Holidays

British Columbia is forbidding residents who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine from hosting anyone in their homes or attending gatherings in other people’s homes over the holiday season.

“If you are unvaccinated or have members of your family who are unvaccinated, we cannot have personal gatherings in those settings right now,” provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said at a press conference on Dec. 17.

Does this make any sense given who is being infected? The vaccinated vastly outnumber the unvaccinated by infection in Ontario, it can’t be any different in BC.

The Ministry of Health says 905 of Sunday’s cases involve unvaccinated people, 142 involve partially vaccinated people, 2,977 involve fully vaccinated people and 153 involve people with unknown vaccination status.

Stop sharing air says power mad Doc

Epidemiologist says COVID-19 is airborne and it’s time to rethink measures

“I would like to see people cleaning the air, putting in HEPA filters, wearing N95 masks when they need to be indoors with others, such as for grocery shopping, and to physical distance in terms of not sharing air, as opposed to physical distance in terms of standing six feet apart.”

A second opinion… The bottom line from Evans though is: “If you have a lot of money and you can afford an N95 mask or one of those equivalents, go ahead and buy them.”

You buying the filters and masks Doc?

Will Poland Have to Defend Europe from Islam Again?

In 1621, the city of Chocim in today’s western Ukraine witnessed a mighty battle between the Polish-Lithuanian Empire and an invading Ottoman army. Chocim is rightly remembered by Poland as a victory, although the conflict ended in a political draw. But this stalemate was fought by only about 50,000 men against three times as many Turks and Mongols. After the death of the Polish commander-in-chief, Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, it was Stanisław Lubomirski (1583–1649), not yet forty years old, who turned the tide in favor of Warsaw.

University could hire professors on ‘woke score’ – media

Oxford University’s race equality task force has reportedly published recommendations that could see academics judged and hired based on what’s been described by one professor as a “woke score.”

The proposals are aimed at raising the number of hires from ethnic minority backgrounds, according to The Telegraph, which reviewed the task force’s consultation document. The equality panel reportedly noted that it was “important to embed EDI [equality, diversity and inclusion]” into “all recruitment.”

Progressive District Attorneys Radically Change Rule of Law in California Cities

LOS ANGELES—Amid a wave of “smash-and-grab” robberies and other crimes, a former prosecutor is claiming that more than 50 prosecutors, support, and victim services staff have quit their jobs over San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s progressive criminal justice reform policies.

“The office is imploding,” said the former prosecutor, who produced the list of those who’ve left their jobs since Boudin was sworn into office on Jan. 10, 2020.

“Not all of them quit, but most of them quit. Some were fired,” said the individual, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal. “The list isn’t up to date. I think more have left.”

What Is Evil?

Everywhere we turn these days we see evil in action. It was always thus, but in the current social, political, and medical environment it seems especially prominent. We observe a pandemic that has caused global and historically immense damage and devastation, a cataclysm of biblical proportions. We see governments, official agencies, and corporate consortiums that have fed the public with lies and misinformation as to the origins, causes, and cures of the plague…

The paradox of black Chicago

African-American politicians benefited from segregation

Earlier this year, the Mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot declared racism to be a public health crisis. Her announcement followed a comprehensive report by the Chicago Department of Public Health, which contained a litany of grim statistics: Black children born in Chicago are three times more likely to die in the first year of life than other infants in the city; half of Chicago’s HIV-positive residents are black, in spite of African Americans making up just 30% of the population; African American Chicagoans are nine times more likely to be murdered and can expect to live nine years less than average; in Englewood on the South Side, where 95% of residents are Black, life expectancy is just 60-years-old, lower than in Afghanistan.

Can protectionism bring back my father’s world?

… And make no mistake, we need to be ready for that war. Xi Jinping, unlike Boris Yeltsin, isn’t going to go gaga over the hyperabundance of the American grocery store. We hollowed out our domestic manufacturing sector in the hope that China would liberalize. Instead, they’ve perfected authoritarianism, and now they’re coming for us.

“The era in which the US acted arbitrarily in the world under the pretext of so-called ‘democracy’ and ‘human rights’ is over. The day will come eventually when the US military, who killed innocent civilians in other countries, will be brought to justice,” a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said in response to Biden’s recent Democracy Summit.

Channel migrant welcomed to Britain stands accused of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl in Vienna

At a popular tourist haunt in Vienna, the handsome Afghan refugee in a blue denim shirt and shorts poses by the side of a bridge overlooking the riverboats on the Danube Canal.

The picture of him looking relaxed and confident was taken last summer, just weeks before he became the prime suspect in a crime that has shocked Austria: the drugging, rape and suffocation of 13-year-old schoolgirl Leonie Walner, whose slim body was found wrapped in a roll of carpet dumped under a tree in central Vienna.

Within hours of the terrible discovery, Rasuili Zubaidullah had run away, dodging Austrian police.

Fighting Crime the Soros Way

The loony-left donor is bankrolling criminal-allied district attorneys and building a bodycount.

Last week in Philadelphia, during an episode which is predictably all too common in that city and lots of others like it, a rampaging looter invaded a pizzeria and sought to pillage the contents of its cash register.

What happened next was a slice of old-fashioned America.
